Hi LightSpeed Spanish. I'm a 64 year old man living in Michigan, USA. I wanted to let you know that your videos are very helpful to me. I like to watch mexican movies and the Disney Zorro tv show in spanish. I have found that by watching the show in spanish and english it improves my spanish. Mexican telenovelas are really great. Thank you both for your tremendous podcasts.
Extremely helpful! In the 7 years I've studied Spanish I've never learned this! I love the way you guys teach. It's very concise, to the point and you guys provide numerous helpful examples. I love Cynthia's advice, "When in doubt stick it in!" ;) hahaha
Thanks again for this video. I recently had an epiphany about the personal a that I think might help people remember to use it. On twitter, when you are talking about a specific person, you use an @ sign to "tag" that person. In a way, the personal a seems to function in a similar manner (and @ looks like an a). Complete coincidence I know, but it might help learners to associate it in their minds. (And of course, they don't work exactly the same, but there is enough overlap there that it might be a useful tool).
Please make your videos louder. I had to buy a speaker to hear your video. However, your videos are otherwise amazing. Gordon you explain things so well for English speakers who wish to become Spanish speakers. Love Cynthia as well.

As always, really helpful. I don't know what I would do without you. In relation to the personal 'a'. I also read in a Spainish textbook other situations when you use the personal 'a'. For example 'Amo a mi patria' or ' Extraño a Oviedo'. Finally that the personal 'a' is never used with the verb 'tener '. Is this correct?
The verb Tener can indeed be used with the personal A, but it doesn't mean just to have (got). You can say: Tengo a mis suegros en casa este fin de semana. Cx
What about using the 'a' with verbs that have a built in preposition, like mirar. For example I am looking at my friend's mom...... Estoy mirando a la mama de mi amiga?
Great question. Some verbs use a preposition A: asistir a = to attend, empezar/comenzar a = to start etc. However, be careful not to mix up the A personal with the A preposition. Mirar = to look at. The A in your example is the A personal and not a preposition. We say: mirar la casa = to look at the house (no personal A) / mirar A una persona = To look at a person..
@rsajrsaj Hey. Thanks for the feedback. We live above a row of shops and sometimes we have noises outside. Es inevitable. Espero que no te haya molestado tanto. :) Gordon (From my other account)

¡Enhorabuena Cellgrrl! Sí, cuando no lo entiendes, pones la A por todos sitios, ¿verdad? Tenía el mismo problema, yo.
Muchísimas gracias, Burrkelsey. Qué amable.
