The new Lead Singer wants to change Group name from Maze to MFT USING FRANKIE BEVERLY &MAZE SONGS. CHRIS HAS TO DO THE WORK LIKE FRANKIE AND MAZE DID. Chris is trying to get out of paying them. I smell the person/Snake in his ear. Maze can sing from Heaven/Screen from pass Concerts while they play MUSIC FOR EVERY SONG. PLEASE PLEASE. I/WE CANNOT LOST MAZE. I/WE LIVE MAZE FOREVER. We KEEP THE LIVE BECAUSE "WE ARE ONE"

There was something much more deeper to Frankie than just the music. Music was just the instrument used to fulfill the purpose, and Frankie understood the assignment.

Thank you so much Roland for this tribute. Frankie Beverly will forever be the angel that will be around for our children and children's children. The music is timeless, and everyone around him involved in the raw feeling his music represents is timeless as well. All were great musicians that understood the work ethic. Robin Duhe, your bass lines are truly incredible and reflect the rawness that the Maze sound is signature for. Jubu Smith, thank you for keeping the forward momentum going. You and Carl, I have followed since the TTT era. Again, thank you Roland. I will forever be grateful for you giving us these valuable moments of an angelic presents in my personal and professional life. Sail on Frankie B. Say hello to Marvin. Rest well my brother. 😢

I have grown up with Frankie Beverly since the seventies, and I will always remember seeing him live playing the local venues in Washington DC. Even working at Providence Hospital I would always see him coming to visit his mom . Truly an icon and legend that will always be remembered for his music and performances along with his trademark hat that he always wore. RIP Frankie Beverly aka Silky Soul Singer🎙️🎵🎼🎶😇🙏.

He didn’t like the name Howard; I loved Frankie even more. My late father and brother was named Howard. My sister named her son Howard after our Dad. Frankie Beverly will never be forgotten. Losing him is tough!❤

    "A Girl & Her Band"
One of my dear brotha friends hipped me to Maze in 1977. I was in high school and he pulled up in front of the house and popped in an 8-track (😂) and played "While I'm Alone," and I was hooked and hopelessly in love. It was instant. I'd found my band. I went to my first Maze concert in college undergrad at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium in Los Angeles and it was transformative, even back then. Frankie played the guitar, the piano synthesizer and the drums...he was quite the musician. I've been to at least 50 Maze concerts...that's 1.25 concerts a year, over 40yrs. I would often say I needed a Maze fix. Why? It was the euphoria I felt after a Maze concert...it was like medicine. I once took 10 of my friends to see Maze, and they came out stunned and drenched in sweat from dancing. They danced and sang with people they didn't know. Their voices hourse from screaming and singing...yep, they got it. They understood the Maze magic. Thank God I took my kids to see Maze and they knew all the words and danced to exhaustion...yep, they got it. I raised them on Maze. I wish we could've kept him forever 😢.
Every once in a blue moon; every once in a lifetime a person, an event, a book, a movie or maybe a band comes along and you catch their wave and ride it into your sunset or their sunset, and it becomes part of your journey. You ride it through the ups and downs of your life because somehow the music 🎶 and the words speak to you, and speaks to the times. It doesn't happen often but it happened with Frankie Beverly and Maze. I'm thankful I discovered my band early and they were the soundtrack to my life. But I'm sad 😢. Thank you, Frankie Beverly and the phenomenal Maze band. You really made life better for us 🎉❤😢💔
Yep...I'm a professional writer. And this is my Maze experience ❤

Wonderfully written. I enjoyed reading every word. I have always loved the music of Frankie Beverly and Maze but had not gone to see him in concert until 2019 at a jazz festival in Hampton, VA and at 72 years of age, he was phenomenal. I was immediately sorry I had not seen him before now but am thankful that I did get to see and experience his live show. Needless to say, I’ve been listening to his whole catalog of music since his passing, even listening to his music when the group was known as “Raw Soul”. He will be missed. And to find out in his death that as a person, he was as beautiful as his music makes this even more sad. Yes, I loved the man and his music too. May his soul RIP.😢😢

RIP Frankie Beverly!! Lord this is so hard!! My mother loved and played Frankie and Maze to death!!!!! I always loved their music and when I grew up and started attending Essence fest, Cincinnati music festival and New Orleans Jazz Fest it was ALWAYS a party when they were there!!! I never saw a bad show ever even when his voice began to fail!!! Thanks for all the great memories ❤❤❤❤

There was always, always, something about his music that made me feel, like when he opened up and sang, it felt like he was singing to us as an INDIVIDUAL instead of a crowd. That's what I felt, each time he performed with a crowd, or just listening to him in my spare time. His music dove down inside of me, and I hope it did the same for many. Blessings to his family and many fans, he gave us ALL of him through his brilliant music. Even though his time on earth is over, his left us with his legacy of beautiful music that will last a LIFETIME
    ❤❤❤

The ministry of his music has touched our culture in a way that nobody else has. The spirit of his music has immersed itself into the social fabric of our lives from the family reunions to the backyard parties and everywhere in between. GOD really blessed us with a jewel of a gentleman in Frankie Beverly. Through free will he embraced his Divine Purpose and shared with love and respect, all he had to give. The beauty of it all is that, we reciprocated our love for him even when he could no longer utter the words of his heart through song. The harvest of his works and deeds were on and popping. He had planted the seeds and had no worries because we would sing the songs for him. It was all love! We just wanted him to be present with that thigh slapping groove of his. Although the flowers of heaven have no match or comparison, I’m so very proud of how we showed our love and gave him his flowers while he was with us. We showed up, he witnessed it and GOD saw it all. The messages of love he has shared, will forever be embedded in our culture. Job well done! To everybody’s favorite Uncle of music, I bid you farewell my brother, with a vouching prayer of love to GOD ALMIGHTY and the Heavens above. You have been the most perfect example and steward of your gift I’ve ever witnessed in the music industry. Rest Easy! 🎶🎙️🙏🏾💯

You won’t believe this: maybe you will. Me and my sister are huge Frankie Beverly fans. Anyway through the years I always said that was my man - he just didn’t know it. We would laugh about it. I texted her with the sad news… we live across the country from one another. When she called me she said “Oh no! That was your man”. We were only a couple yrs apart in age, and birthdays nine days apart. To me he was it. It was more than his talent. He was genuine and spiritual. Who wouldn’t want a great guy like that? I can’t even imagine how hurt his family is. My condolences to them. RIP Brother❤!

I witnessed the same thing Roland. 2005 Essence Fest. Frankie Beverly and Maze closed it out. Electric Sliding throughout the Superdome to Joy and Pain then to Before l Let Go. I was on the floor looking up, you mentioned being up top looking down. What a vision to behold. Never seen anything like it before or since. That was 19 years ago, and l'm still AMAZED!!! Frankie Beverly was a true phenomenon and musical prophet! The words, the voice, the music beyond soulful and sheer excellence. Rest easy Frankie Beverly, with much love , respect and admiration! We miss so dearly, and always will. 🤍🕊🧢🎤🎶🌹😢

Roland Martin, you can’t even know how much you sharing this video means to me and I sure many others. It gave me an opportunity to see a little bit of inside the private life of Frankie Beverly and Maze. They came to The Kool Jazz Festival, and Cincinnati Jazz Festivals for many years. They usually were the closing performance except for one time and so many people were upset about that one time. Simply because we all loved to hear and see them perform last so that we could take with us wherever we went after the show. Whether it was to a party, a nightclub, or even at home. Frankie and Maze had that kind of effects on people. They were sweet, sweet memories that I will always cherish and I will always remember that white cap and his all white attire. Thanks 🙏🏾 Roland for sharing this phenomenal history of our beloved brother.
Rest in heavenly paradise, Frankie Beverly!! ❤️🌹❤️

I watched a video of him and a sister and a brother and they mentioned how he had been rejected so many times before he was finally excepted. So to be welcome wherever he performs has to be embraced. That type of embrace like the father gave the prodigal son.
    When Marvin Gaye gave
them that opportunity it was like saying welcome home you've made it
Frankie Beverly made a tribute to Marvin Gaye calling him Silky Soul Singer. Somehow Mr Beverly is referred to as that same title.

I can remember going to see him back in the day at The Carter Barron in DC.
