Girl you're a tough cookie! You've got guts... I'm so sorry about your dad . I lost my dad suddenly and tragically right before the epidemic in July of 2019 ... And yes staying with your mom awhile was a very very needed support and bond that only close nit families could understand...

I am an old lady... well not old but I have 4 kids 23, 21, 16 and 13. I always tell them to give their young selves grace. If you can look back at your young self and say "oh gosh, I was a baby or a chicken" then you have grown so much and have the "young you" to thank for that. So we all need to give ourselves that grace. You have so much more confidence in the city and went through so much, it's inspiring! I hope you had a fun night out ❤

I remember I started watching your channel around the time that you moved to New York. I also lost my dad around the same time, and I found comfort in knowing that someone else is going through the same thing.(although it does break my heart to know that you suffered that loss. I’m so sorry.) I know we don’t know each other personally, but I am so freaking proud of you! Thank you for being open and vulnerable with us. Sending you all the love ❤️

I totally agree that NYers are not the rude hard-asses they are made out to be. I've seen even more kindness after having my daughter. It's amazingly child friendly.

I really think you did the right thing by making your move to NYC. This is the time to do it before other life obligations come your way. Taking yourself out of your comfort zones forces you to grow and learn more about yourself. This is a very valuable time - savor it!

Congratulations on two years!! Don’t ever feel bad about moving back with your parents. I moved back with my parents after moving and I find it a blessing. I can still see them on a daily basis and create a bond with them that I wouldn’t have had if I still lived on my own. Of course everyone’s relationship with their parents is different

Your videos over the last 2.5 years have helped me so much. I broke up with my boyfriend of 6 years in the first half of 2021. The way you made such a big change when you moved to New York, after your whole life was shaken up and then losing your dad, it continues to be something that inspires me to take good risks (what can I say, you’re my parasocial fave 💜).

I'm in my mid-40's now but I also moved to NYC with my best friend when we were 21 (happened to also be July 1st!). I was there for about 2 years and then 9/11 happened (I was working at WTC at the time so my job.....ended abruptly) and after a few months I ended up moving back. My BFF is still there with her husband and kids so I go visit pretty regularly but I realized that long-term, it wasn't for me. But I am SO GLAD I did it! I loved my time there, I grew a lot while I was there, and I learned a lot about myself and what I wanted out of my life. You should be really proud for making such a big move and stretching your wings and pushing out of your comfort zone - you can tell how good your experience has been!
Love your channel Kelly - happy 2 year NYC anniversary!

Congratulations on two years! It's been great to see you make a big change and doing what you want with your life. A lot of what you say about NYC I would say about London in the UK and it probably applies to any big city. The worst thing is how expensive it is, everything else is not as scary as you would think and Londoners are really friendly! They totally will have a conversation with you in a queue, or on the tube, they maybe come across as less open during rush hour when it's crowded and everyone's stressed and tired, which seems the same in Manhattan. I've been to NYC a couple of times and loved it, one of the best things is the people! ❤

You being young I think its great you are in NYC. More opportunities. As they say, if you can make it there you can make it anywhere. I’m also glad you are living in the same state as your Mom. You both will need that support. Sorry about your Dad. So horrible that covid took away so many lives. Congrats to you in NYC…you will do great. Make good friends.

However for me, it was the best decision I ever made and things have felt like they are moving in place for me.
It takes time to get there may I add but when I came n ask home, I started on a journey of rediscovery and it was amazing.
Im still in that journey but to me, seeing who I am will always happen because who I am today is not who I will be tomorrow.

I'm currently on the moving to another place, for the first time in 3 years I will not live together with my current roommate. It is quite a struggle to do everything on my own but I hope everything turns out fine, thank you for sharing your experience! And New York sounds like a city I want to live in, as it has really similar living style to a lot of European cities I have been to, the small grocery stores, and I could walk for 3 kilometers (about 2 miles) without feeling tired at all.

  • @wplants9793
    @wplants9793 ปีที่แล้ว +4

I love New York, I try to go there whenever I can. I’m a huge fan of the walkable and public transport way of life. If I could I’d live in Europe, but New York is the closest we have to that lifestyle. Next summer we are taking a family trip to New England and I am so excited to introduce my kids to New York, they are 5 and 8 currently.
I am from the MN/WI border and although I love the upper Midwest (winter is my favorite season), I get tired of the “Minnesota Nice” and appreciate how honest and direct New Yorkers are. For the last 13 years I have lived in Portland OR and the flakiness sometimes gets to me, people are so agreeable to keep the peace but I wish they’d be a little more Chicago or New York and just tell me what they are really feeling so we can all move on with our days 😂😂

As someone who has lived in NYC, on the UWS for ~15 years, if you’re thinking of moving here, spend some extended time here first. The city is NOT the same post pandemic, and suffers from many problems similar to urban cites today. Trash, homeless at an all time high, expense, people smoking now legal weed on the street, generally a sense of loss of community & respect for our neighbors. There is a lot of kindness too but I also came from the Midwest, and am very sad about it. Just make a well informed decision and please don’t romanticize living in NYC. Still, there is a lot to offer, you just need to find your special place.

My wife and I are more than over living in the city--any city. We're over the rude ass, constant-weed-blowing fools in it, and we want to move to a rural area when our financial situation affords.
