    We are in the same boat. As a 1st generation farmer this stuff isn't easy. Especially with us both working full time jobs. Yesterday we saved the lives of one of our goats and her new borns.

    If you see one rodent there is always more normally. We had some rodents running around we tried everything in the traps We finally put dry dog food out and caught several.

    How about installing a couple of the cats from the barn in the greenhouse, the vermin won’t even get off the ground. 😜😃👍
    I agree, all your plantings look great. Keep up the super work.

    Set a trap or two right on the seeded trays. Maybe? Soaked seed for bait?

    You can see holes along the wall under the bench when you showed the traps. Plug around outside wall with gravel. Are your cats mousers? Maybe try them.

    Spent a decade experimenting with mouse snap traps for pest control company. Traps need to be placed perpendicular to the wall. Use raw bacon and attach it securely and this will also get rid of any other odors that the Trap may have. Put the traps out but don’t set them the first night, let the mice come and check everything out and think it’s fine. Then set the traps to next night. 1:26

    Your using the wrong mouse traps.. you need to buy the PLASTIC mouse traps. The wooden ones are a waste...more often then not..the mouse eats the bait and the trap is still engaged. Walmart has the plastic ones and they are great.

    Happy Easter! Mice do not like the smell of peppermint and bounce dryer sheets. I put the dryer sheets and spray peppermint oil in my car and it keeps the mice out of my car. It really does work. Use the peppermint plants that you grow or use peppermint oil around the green houses. I hope you get the mice problem under control. Everything is looking amazing. It’s good to hear everything is growing good for you.

    Hi Logan. Interesting about the colour changes in the petunias. Last year I had different variations on the one single plant. When I posted photos no one could believe it was the same stem of one plant….still beautiful. Glad your trap caught something and thanks for not showing it! 😁 Take care…👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻

    I've been trapping a lot of mice using chocolate. They love it. And the traps I use are such that you don't have to re-bait. And they never get to eat any of the bait.

    I've had good luck using a mix of Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix and baking soda. Had a problem with rats - big ones - ten inches w/o tail. eating the spillage from my bird feeders. I put a couple of containers out and they were gone in one day. Cut a hole in a yogurt container and add the mix. If you can keep water away from it - use a lid and make a little pile - that way you will know if they have eaten it.

    Thanks Logan!
    If it means enough to you to keep the rodents out, you might build some frames of 1x4 pine lumber on edge, then staple 1/2 inch hardware cloth across the top, to fit over the trays. You can also hang a couple of pieces of light chain with s hooks handing from the purlin, and hook the frame up so you can work with the trays. You'll want to hang the frame from at least 3 points, as it might get in your way if hung from only two points. When down, the frames and mesh protect the flats of seeds and seedlings. Thanks for the great video!

    The weather here is GLOOMY & RAINY and DAMP. Its so NICE to sit here and have coffee and have you show us all the stuff in the Greenhouse. LOVE those dogs they follow you everywhere even in the cold and snow. You made my day today showing me that Basil, my sauce always tastes better when I throw in my own Basil that I grow on my Patio. I took the pots out of the shed and freshened up the soil but I know its just too early to get some for outside. I would gladly buy that basil and keep it in my kitchen pots right now. Take care of that Basil.

    Seems uncharacteristic of mice to eat new plant growth; sounds more like pesky voles but did not think they would climb. Consider installing a trail cam on a post in order to verify the guilty rodent.

    • @kittiew260
      @kittiew260 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Mice can climb and will eat new seedlings. Seen that with bigger flower farmers too. Hopefully they will find a resolution.

    Can you explain like I'm five why you grow rye in the greenhouse only to kill it?

    • @JamesLawrence-hv4ti
      @JamesLawrence-hv4ti 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      the rye will get tilled into the soil its in. it will fluff up the soil letting air mix with the soil. it will also let water flow thru the soil more easily and as the chopped up rye breaks down it puts nutrients in the soil. all that is good for the roots of whatever they plant there. when you use rye or other plants like this its called a cover crop

    Sticky traps work really well. I use them for small bugs crawling into my garage. You know you can set up your watering on a timer. And those onions look great, but it'd go a whole lot faster if you maybe trimmed off the top with some tool similar to a hedge trimmer. You wouldn't even have to pick up the tray, right? I'm sure you know it's not pronounced impatients, right? There's only the first T in the name.
