Well I suspect the comparison being set in Atlanta probably didn’t make an argument in favour of AWD. If they did this comparison test in Minneapolis, may have a different outcome!
I have had a 2007 Odyssey a 2010 caravan a 2011 town and country and a 2012 Routan. All bought used. The Routan went to the dump when the tranny dumped at 150k. The 2011 t and c was constantly throwing codes and crazy shifting tranny. My 2007 Odyssey had 221k and was a solid van still EXCEPT for the damn cylinder deactivation. Which is still used today! Burns oil and kills motor mounts. My 2010 caravan with the old 3.8 pushrods v6 was the best and since it was not over powering the 6 spd auto always stayed in check. Soooooo the winner goes too! Oh my 2001 Toyota Sienna! She only has 130k but is literally bullet proof. Driven daily and has been in my family since new!
1. No Kia Sedona. 2. The T&C, Grand Caravan, and Routan ARE THE SAME VEHICLE, just rebadged. 3. Predictable "best". Let's hope the VCM engine and 5-speed transmission hold up with time.
I bought a 2011 Routan new, now has 138k miles after 7-1/2 years and has been very reliable. We were fortunate to buy it right after they started using the new Pentastar motor and it’s been great. It has awesome power and gets 25 mpg on the highway.
Durability wise, nothing can beat Toyota Sienna. Long term transmission issue in Odyssey is still lingering. No comment for VW since no VW are comparable to Japanese robustness.
Still a great video for finding the perfect $7500 minivan. But now with 150-225k miles a passenger van might make more sense. I wish Motorweek had tested the modern Econoline and Express.
Did you forget about the sienna Also wtf the quest has a cvt, the Routan is a thousand years old, and you literally said the odyssey was the most expensive and least powerful Chrysler cousins are fine in my book, but this review isn’t Sorry John, Not impressed
BULLCRAP ..I KNOW the Sienna is WAAAAY better than the Chrysler Bread boxes. I think they took this during the Toyota recall or something. The Chrysler feel like you're riding in a cardboard box on wheels, flimsy and lite. And drives like a carboard box on wheel too. You buy one & you WILL be disapointed. I beg you buyers to take both and compare side by side , and drive each for a full Day. i bet you will choose the Sienna over the Chrysler every time. Unless all you need a $20K minivan..??
Seems a little fishy to me. Honda is #1 and Toyota is #6? Have a hard time believing that. Sienna will probably outrun (and be worth more than at trade-in/sale time) than all except the Odyssey. The Routan has terrible reliability ratings, and the Dodge and Chryslers score low as well. Routan is just a re-tooled old Dodge with a pseudo-luxury label.
I will agree!! We own a 2007 Toyota Sienna LE and it is built to last! It can tow a lot and u can pack everything but the kitchen sink in it for vacations!!
This was great, our family choose a Chrysler. All the vans are great but the fact that Chrysler base model comes loaded is a plus. Technology is easily added by iPads and GPS equipment. Gas mileage is very important. Van can tow to, which gives dad an option to haul trailers and boats. For the price they are a great investment in family fun.
If we're being realistic about what the average family can actually afford in a family hauler, the Grand Caravan is the realistic winner as far as value for money. Odyssey and Sienna are not realistic options for average families when they come with luxury vehicle pricetags. Just look at how many Grand Caravans are on the road.
A "few bucks" more? Try several thousand more. The fully loaded Honda will cost you about 15k more than a Caravan. Which is why the Caravan outsells the others... value... $$$
I have and will continue to pay several thousand dollars more. Maybe it's because I will only by a one or two year old used car. I have had two Honda Odysseys(1999,2010) and the premium you pay in price you get back in quality. Granted you service the transmission every 50k miles xD
@chrysleristhebest1 people buying a minivan should take a look at the price of regular maintenance, as well as the demands of the warranty in terms of said maintenance. Some people may not be prepared for the cost of regular scheduled maintenance. Some manufacturers reliability is due to the maintenance schedule which forces owners to conform to replace parts before they fail, with maintenance like this you'll get miles out of any make. I've heard of GM minivans with half a million KMs on them.
Overall, this comes to personal preference. Get a minivan that fits your choice. I would stay cautious with Chrysler/Doge minivans as there are still a few major reliability issues.
weird. my mom said sienna is better but we all protested for a quest. when my mom saw this, AFTER we got the quest, she was dissapointed, the odyssey was too expensive for us and the quest had excellent features and perfect pricing. Plus, we had a 1996 quest, serving us more than 15 years, and in a scientific test, the quest would last longer than the odyssey. QUEST IS EPIC...well, for us
Too bad they don’t use column shifters anymore. Look how stupid it looks in how the radio was shrunken width but not length wise for a dashboard shifter.
Honda odessey is the best doge van suck town in country. It can't hold1 ponud it nissan. Quest is good but it look like a box I don't like but like the in toyta is good with awd. Ok drive with. volswagon 2nd row don't fold down I almost threw up. Maza5 so little. And ugly they need to make it bigger kia sedona is ugly and 2 plan honda odessey is good mileage feel good I can't wait I get my honda odessey this weekend. It is so hot looking
Who actually likes the boxy look? Why didn't the Quest have a navigation? There version was only $38k. They couldn't afford the navigation or it isn't offered? Why did they compare two Chrysler companies? They are essentially the same van, the town and country just has more upgrades. Why did they use a $45k price range? Most families want a cheaper car than that. So many questions. Not the best review I've ever seen. Also, the Sienna has power fold third row, too.
I actually like the Sienna a lot, but compared to this $10K off MSRP deal it would cost $13K more real dollars to buy the comparably equipped XLE. Sorry folks, but in terms of ownership cost, you just are not gonna recoup $13K over the life of the car. The actual sell-for price difference (not the MSRP) prices the Sienna Quest and Odyssey at a serious premium to the Dodge, Chrysler and Routan. Also, the Stow & Go seats are uncomfortable for adults, Routan has comfy 2nd row capt chairs.
@XenomorphLV426 yea I think it is based on the elgrand, which had been boss's minivan around the world for the past 10+ years and had been rwd until now. Bearded guy clearly a Honda fanboy, complained the nissan as boxy (LMAO, he has never seen the old elgrands which is inspired by american vans like gmc safari). And said honda is clearly his choice for no reason. Oddyssey clearly a step or 2 below quest and sells for more, wtf.
Sienna is way batter looking, driving and reliable then bunch and it's not on top 4 can't believe this review. It has way more option better engine and transmission then odyssey and buy the way Sienna is now Top selling Van and it beat Odyssey by a big margin even after all that Toyota recall no wonder why it didn't win in top 4.
Long after the quests CVT has failed and the different variations of Dodge vans repair bills outweigh its sorry resale value; the Honda and Toyota will still be running strong with good resale values.
Well thats the base model of the sienna, if they would gave you xle or platinum. But price plays a part. If the video was based on dependability well the toyota would be at number one.
wtf??? 3 chrysler's,toyota doesn't even place????????????????? These testers obviously got paid off by chrysler or something, especially when every review i've heard of the routan says it's crap, ooo, what now that the pentastar's in it it's better than a sienna???????????
ok i dont usually give toyota much credit but the idea to invert the rear wiper and hide it under the roof spoiler is so smart. its really lame that all 3 of the chrysler van get a chance in this competition a few years for now there will only be one chrysler van
6 MINIVANS?????????? WTF?????????? THE TOWN&COUNTRY, CARAVAN, AND ROUTAN ARE THE SAME VAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THE BADGE!!!!!!! THIS COMPARISON REALLY IS A 4 VAN CONTEST: THE SIEENA, QUEST, ODYSSEY, AND CARAVAN.
It's funny there is little mention of the incredibly stupid design on the Toyota second row. Once you get the seats out there are two trolleys left sticking out of the floor. And they are *always* in the way!
@joshuatree1001 also, if you buy a black Tahoe or Suburban, black out the windows, you can have fun parking in front of people's houses, wearing black sunglasses. Great times making neighbours think the FBI is watching them.
@toyota4life94 yes but it does not has bls or all the safety features the t and c has standed and ive been in 2 2011 sienna almost every day we carpool and they r nice but still toyota is very werird right now
Which one was dead last? I've had the privilege to drive 4 of the 6, all except the nissan and vw, and I really want to know what was last. I would pick the dodge over the toyota any day
@hokman1 Well the Siennas are nearly on par with the Honda Odyssey and it is by no means worse than a Routon (last gen town and country). Sienna is the only van with AWD. Has a optional 8th seat (the middle seat in the 2nd row) Toyota have great reliability (Hondas too, Chryslers not so much) Includes same features as all the other vans except stow and go But to be honest I must say that I am a toyota fanboy and probably wrote that comment enraged that my beloved toyota didn't get any honors.
Probably because none of them look good. They've gone all boxy. The best minivan days were the late 90's, and early 2000s. Flowing lines are good, rectangles with wheels are not.
chrysler and dodge are built to fall apart after 6000 miles, all the dealer are busy fixing that junk, and what is more, the parts are on back-order. enjoy!
The narrator is really annoying. Please ditch the cheesy '90s game show host voice and just speak normally, it would make the video much more enjoyable.
Here are my favorites to top to least. 1st favorite: both Chrysler Town and country and Dodge Grand Caravan Under that I drop the Honda Odyssey and Toyota sienna. The two minivan that I didn't whatsoever like were the Nissan Quest and Volkswagen Routan
Not really that surprised the odyssey won Looks like they saw how cheap the interior in the Toyota was and thats why it didnt come in the top 4 lol. We LOVE our 2011. Its got sooo much features. odyssey EX-L w/Nav Video on my channel if anyone is interested =)
Due to an October month end deal from VW, I just bought a 2011 Routan SE w Nav & DVD for $10K under MSRP. $25570 brand new. VW gives 3 yrs free maintenance also. No competitors can touch this deal with these features. I drove all the vans and Routan is easily the best handling with the beefier VW suspension components, and higher performance tires than the Chrysler & Dodge. No body roll or tire squeals at speed, honestly fun to drive.
Anyone who is going to engage in a comments war on TH-cam discussing which is the better minivan has given up on life and clearly has nothing else to live for.
Sienna deserved a top 4 finish. The VW didn't. MotorWeek messed up there IMO
In reliability the Toyota sienna would be 1
I'm surprised that the Toyota Sienna didn't get 1st place. I thought that the AWD would appeal more to the testers.
Well, the Sienna is kind of boring tbh.
Well I suspect the comparison being set in Atlanta probably didn’t make an argument in favour of AWD. If they did this comparison test in Minneapolis, may have a different outcome!
where is toyota sienna??
lll
I have had a 2007 Odyssey a 2010 caravan a 2011 town and country and a 2012 Routan. All bought used. The Routan went to the dump when the tranny dumped at 150k. i want to buy for transport business which u recommend, in a bad road country
@@upgradelimited1908 honda
Or Toyota. Newer Toyota has no timing belt. I think 2007 and up
Useful resource even in 2018! Looking to buy a used mini van, this helps.
Me 2
Hello from 2023 😅 (getting a 2011 Odyssey!)
Fast forward to 2023...anyone and everyone who bought a Nissan Quest is dealing with Nissan's CVT failure while all others are still running.
What's this review trying to say, that the Toyota Sienna came in at 5th place? The Sienna tops them all imo.
Fuck him
Right Toyota tops them all
True that
did i miss the placing of the sienna?
1. No Kia Sedona.
2. The T&C, Grand Caravan, and Routan ARE THE SAME VEHICLE, just rebadged.
3. Predictable "best". Let's hope the VCM engine and 5-speed transmission hold up with time.
u are well informed
Wow, that's very surprising. The Sienna is the best minivan here by far.
Nah, My vote Goes To the Dodge. We have a Honda odyssey And its great
No, way
Odyssey is the best. Speaking from experience.
Wow Sienna not even qualified for competition
I bought a 2011 Routan new, now has 138k miles after 7-1/2 years and has been very reliable. We were fortunate to buy it right after they started using the new Pentastar motor and it’s been great. It has awesome power and gets 25 mpg on the highway.
Honda Odyssey, Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Caravan is best minivans, my favorites
This test is wrong the sienna could have been at least second, the sienna is the best minivan
Durability wise, nothing can beat Toyota Sienna. Long term transmission issue in Odyssey is still lingering. No comment for VW since no VW are comparable to Japanese robustness.
Toyota Sienna will all ways be the best
Still a great video for finding the perfect $7500 minivan. But now with 150-225k miles a passenger van might make more sense. I wish Motorweek had tested the modern Econoline and Express.
well it's not hard to see that this was rigged..
Did you forget about the sienna
Also wtf the quest has a cvt, the Routan is a thousand years old, and you literally said the odyssey was the most expensive and least powerful
Chrysler cousins are fine in my book, but this review isn’t
Sorry John, Not impressed

I will agree!! We own a 2007 Toyota Sienna LE and it is built to last! It can tow a lot and u can pack everything but the kitchen sink in it for vacations!!
Nissan is the worst of them all and is the most unsafe van on the market even in 2019.
I Have A Honda Odyssey 05 But I Like The Sienna A Lot More, Especially The 2012 Sienna.
lol where did the toyota go?
the town and country is the best and always will be the best
This was great, our family choose a Chrysler. All the vans are great but the fact that Chrysler base model comes loaded is a plus. Technology is easily added by iPads and GPS equipment. Gas mileage is very important. Van can tow to, which gives dad an option to haul trailers and boats. For the price they are a great investment in family fun.
Our town and country 2012 that is the best vehicle we have ever owned Michigan and Texas Arkansas Florida
I think the Sienna should have at least made 2nd if not 1st!! This test is messed up!!
Almost 300 horsepower in Minivans. Fantastic!
I think they should have tested the top of the line version of each minivan and then compared what the manufacturers had to offer.
If we're being realistic about what the average family can actually afford in a family hauler, the Grand Caravan is the realistic winner as far as value for money. Odyssey and Sienna are not realistic options for average families when they come with luxury vehicle pricetags. Just look at how many Grand Caravans are on the road.
Yes the caravan is is cheaper but Toyota And Honda is More Safe (IIHS SMALL OVERLAP) And More reliable.
idk why someone would go for a caravan when you have the Honda and Toyota just for a few bucks more.
A "few bucks" more? Try several thousand more. The fully loaded Honda will cost you about 15k more than a Caravan. Which is why the Caravan outsells the others... value... $$$

fildez woods yes I totally agree with you
What happend to the Kia Sedona? (My mom has the 2012 honda odyssey) and yeah im 11 years old and I know a lot about cars.
@chrysleristhebest1 people buying a minivan should take a look at the price of regular maintenance, as well as the demands of the warranty in terms of said maintenance. No Kia Sedona EX??
I dont care what nobody say town and country the king of the minivans word and is widely used everywhere including rental car agencies and etc.
You're blind to say that none are sporty when the Dodge Grand Caravan is the only sporty looking van, and they're beastly.
How is the Nissan Quest in 3rd?
Toyota is #1 van
weird. my mom said sienna is better but we all protested for a quest. when my mom saw this, AFTER we got the quest, she was dissapointed, the odyssey was too expensive for us and the quest had excellent features and perfect pricing. I wish you had included the Kia Sedona, since it was refreshed with new looks and engines for 2011.
I still think that the Sienna still outbeats the Odyssey any day!! It's more luxurious and has the woodtrim that the Odyssey doesn't have!!
Were the Sienna and Caravan not ranked?
The Sienna Is Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay Better
RIP Astro!
I like the Honda also but I'm not sure why Toyota didn't make the list.
Too bad they don’t use column shifters anymore.
Look how stupid it looks in how the radio was shrunken width but not length wise for a dashboard shifter.
wow they just kicked out the sienna like that
V tech just kicked in yo!
We got rid of our Honda Odyssey because of transmission issues. I wouldn't recommend Odyssey until the get their transmissions right.
It's only the second generation
What year
fyi Toyota Sienna should have been in the top 4
Honda odessey is the best doge van suck town in country. It can't hold1 ponud it nissan. Quest is good but it look like a box I don't like but like the in toyta is good with awd. The narrator is really annoying. Please ditch the cheesy '90s game show host voice and just speak normally, it would make the video much more enjoyable.
YOU DON'T BUY VAN FOR CARGO PURPOSES OK!!!!!!!!! IF YOU NEED CARGO SPACE, GET A PICK UP TRUCK!!!!!!!!!!!! VANS ARE FOR TRANSPORTING PEOPLE.
Here are my favorites to top to least.
1st favorite: both Chrysler Town and country and Dodge Grand Caravan
Under that I drop the Honda Odyssey and Toyota sienna.

Video on my channel if anyone is interested =)
THE NISSAN QUEST IS THE BEST. IT'S THE MOST UNIQUE IN DESIGN AND SO SO SO JAPANESE. THE OTHER VANS IN THIS COMPARISON LOOK THE SAME.
sucks how the sienna lost its position as a kick ass minivan...oh well the nissan is sweet but i guess u cant beat that pesky honda eh?
In this test, worst minivan that could get 2nd place, along with the best minivan that could get 1st place.
How the fck did the SIenna lose to the Town and country and the shtty Quest and the VW nothing van.
@hondaftw1234
just cuz u have it doesn't automatically make it a winner. you sound like the biased bearded guy.
Due to an October month end deal from VW, I just bought a 2011 Routan SE w Nav & DVD for $10K under MSRP. $25570 brand new. VW gives 3 yrs free maintenance also. If you have never driven your minivan past 70mph, then i would understand why you would like Chrysler.
@toyota4life94 mybe but the power doors on 2011s suck plus how many recalls plus they r very expensive
@DJBrothaIvan we did 110 mph on 2010 Chrysler on our last road trip, wasn't scary at all, it felt like 80mph on a full size sedan.
It was also the number one choice of vans by Kelley Blue Book!!
@whattheheck1000 not really test drove all vans and the odyssey and sienna id put last
Wow three Mopar vehicles. I guess the govt was not involved with this testing...
my list
nissan quest
sienna se
odyssey
chrysler
dodge madza 5
dodge
vw
Please next time you do a comparison include the Ford Flex.
Nissan has the best interior of all should have came in 2nd, not a Crapsler.
Must have gone to the richest side of town for this so called test family.
Was it me or did they just leave out the Sienna?
Oh, I thought it was that sport grain type thing with all models!
Anyone who is going to engage in a comments war on TH-cam discussing which is the better minivan has given up on life and clearly has nothing else to live for.
You’re telling me the Nissan Quest and Chrysler T&C best the Sienna? Reliability? Safety? Practicality? WTF?
Nissan Quest looks like a refridge on wheels
Toyota Sienna and Honda Odyssey good
Same here, definitely the Sienna!
For having hard plastic and not being well equipped.
It’s 2021 and toyota is number one lol
No Kia van? Also, a $45,000.00 price limit?!
