@@lizynesss1081 The worst part of one of the actual victim who came on a Korean show to discuss her experience is that her two perpetrators have never faced any consequence and continue to work as a nurse and a social worker. The victim didn’t get her revenge like in The Glory and mentioned that she could not watch the show due to her trauma

Apparently school bullying is REALLY bad in South Korea. Like this show was based off of MULTIPLE different cases. I saw a street interview in Korea where they asked people if they thought the show "the glory" was accurate- and a lot said it was tamer compared to real life. That the show wasn't violent enough compared to the real thing. That's why a celebrity getting accused of bullying in South Korea can completely destroy their career.

I speak as a Korean who graduated from elementary school, middle school, high school, and college in Korea. Foreigners who have not lived in Korea misunderstand Korean school days by only seeing the extreme situations and devilish characters in dramas. Delinquent youth exist everywhere. School violence is also a phenomenon that exists in all countries. Rather, the level of school violence in Korea is quite weak by global standards. Reality and drama are different. Just as there are no X-men walking down the streets in America.

@@OneStep234I don't think anyone is claiming that school bullying and violence doesn't exist everywhere. Being American I know how bad ours get when alot of our bullying leads to school sh**tings and unaliving themselves.(ive lived through a bomb threat at my school and gun violence at my school). I understand the desire to protect and defend Korea and Korean society, especially when you say that you haven't experienced it or seen it therefore it gives you the view of things being over exaggerated. However, as the original commentor mentioned, there's a video on TH-cam where Koreans in korea were being asked about the realism and authenticity of the bullying in the show and alot of people were calling the show tame compared to real life....... Of course noone believes that all of Korea and Korean schools are like that but I'm not gonna discredit their statements either...... everyone has different experiences, yours didn't have you encounter this violence and apparently these people in the interview experienced or at the very least saw extreme bullying and violence at their schools

However, Korean cinema/series have been great since they removed the censorship regime, back in the 80s and 90s.

The South Korean ministry of education once did a survey in 2012, polling a million elementary students, middle schoolers and higher schoolers - asking about how many of them having experienced bullying, which is translated to school violence in Korean. Nearly 10% of them said they had experienced it.

Perhaps bullying is happening all around us. Schools are at the forefront prevention against bullying. However, the school's bullying exceeds the school's capabilities
that is why films from Korea tell a lot about bullying which is clear so that other people care more about the people around them and so that cases of bullying can be paid more attention not to be underestimated

Karma is a bitch! That's for sure!
I was bullied by a girl that was 3 years older than me, with earrings, tattoos and stuff and she made fun of my religion. 10 years later, I happened to have her daughter attending my religious class! I didn't even know that she was her daughter, but God helped me see that he was watching over me those years. It was one day that her daughter had a leading role at a Christmas play of the Sunday school activities and her daughter, Victoria, asked me if I could get her from her parents' restaurant because she couldn't come otherwise by herself. Both of her parents had to work at their restaurant. So, after she gave me directions, I went there to take her.Imagine my surprise to see my bully after 10 years, being Victoria's mom!!! I changed a lot since my High school years, so she didn't recognise me but oh, I did recognised her! So, she was making fun of my religion, but she let her daughter, go to Sunday school, and her daughter was one of the regulars! I let you imagine what happened next... Funny is that even to me sounds crazy and what's even more crazier is that every bully I had back then, life brought them in front of me being so miserable that because of those moments I started to believe that there is Justice! Another "friend" of mine at elementary school used to bully me, thinking that she was the prettiest and made everyone serve her like she was a Queen or something. She even made fun of me in games like Trivial persude every time I got wrong answers. Anyway, she was mostly proud of her beauty, so when I learnt a few years ago that she had a terrible accident and while she was riding a bike, she ran into a track and her face got scarred and since then she had many problems and fears. She also put on weight. I happened to see and talk to her but it was as if she had forgotten everything she did to me. Every time she talked to me, her voice was trembling and looked as if she is about to burst into tears... She is in a position that I feel sorry for her...I was lucky enough to not take revenge or anything, because God did that for me! I guess it's because I let it go and didn't think about all these years again. I went on with my life but God made sure to let me know that He didn't forget and I will never forget what He did for me!
