Who among violinists in phono-recorded history could stand up to the scrutiny of such close miking and produce something in the league of what we hear of Vasa Prihoda?
Young Heifetz, young Enescu, maybe young Kreisler, perhaps Isolde Menges. Likely, young Sarasate himself. They all came close. Today, we have Kerson Leong. I have mixed feelings about his interpretation of this piece, but his technic is possibly the best of anyone alive today. However, there is one recorded violinist who exceeded this wonderful recording of Prihoda (at least technically), and that is Vasa Prihoda himself 8 years earlier, in his 1927 recording. That is a miracle, perhaps the greatest embodiment of virtuosity i have ever witnessed--maybe greater even than his 1926 (first) rec. of Paganini's "Nel Cor Piu Non Mi Sento". Enjoy.
What's a phenomenal bow. The astonishing point is, when watching the Paganini 12 th Sonatine by Prihoda, there's nothing special in the posture, nothing like Ferras' "strange" technics. But Prihoda's bow is still matchless. A rubber made right wrist^^. Thanks for sharing.
Hamed Triqui In the 20th they said, Vasa Prihoda is the new Paganini. Toscanini heard him in the year 1920 playing in Milano in Café Grande Italia and he gave him instantly an engagement at the Scala Milano. This was the start for a world wide career.

I agree with you!! This bowing technique is really amazing. Speed and precision at a great level have been only acquired by a few violinists: Sarasate, Heifetz, Ysaye, Huberman and Prihoda.
@@hamedtriqui I think that this very nondescript and natural appearance is in fact the very product of his secret--relaxation of the shoulders and arms, and taking the path of the least resistance. But that's only my guess.
Великолепная мелкая техника , несравненная координация в моторных эпизодах удивительное исполнение медленной части в двойных нотах , легкость в пассажах , характерное артикулирование , подражание реальным " цыганским " скрипачам в начальных эпизодах придает неповторимую индивидуальность этому исполнению . Не надо забывать. что запись почти 90 летней давности , а тогда играли совсем по иному и исполнительская техника и мастерство выросли безумно , но , несмотря на это , игра Васи Пшигоды звучит свежо и очень современно !

A wonderful performance by Prihoda. I had never heard the second (slow) section done with double stops. Amazing.
Even Heifetz does not play the third part as fast as Prihoda.
