bro is clueless, doesn’t know the difference between 32 bit and 64 bit, and thinks just cause phantom power (48v) isn’t on that the interface isn’t on, buddy not all mics need phantom power, yours just does and that’s y it doesn’t work unless it’s on, for people who don’t know, your mic might not need phantom power, so yes it’s on even without turning on that switch, if you can’t hear your mic it probably needs phantom power and you should turn it on. turning that on with a mic that doesn’t need phantom power might damage the mic, just so u know

I'm pretty sure anyone buying a microphone that get's damaged by 48v getting turned on won't be plugging it into a UM2, and I really hope they aren't having to look up a youtube tutorial on how to connect an audio interface and microphone to a computer.

thanks! i'm getting the at2020 and behringer in a few days and this video makes it look easy. it's my first XLR, I'm upgrading from a Blue Yeti I've had for nearly 2 years now.

@@anmolagrawal5358 Depends on how you use it. For talking, ie podcasts etc. it's good, but for recording vocals it is not. It clips horribly at the increase.

I've had this same set up for over a year, It works great. Was reinstalling drivers today and I was dumb and left it plugged in the whole time that i uninstalled and updated. Really interesting. Caused low output in both volume and pitch lol. Was super frustrated at first cause I couldn't figure out why my voice sounded so dumb for like an entire day.
Btw the nob on the far right is for output volume. You can use it as a sort of DAC for a 6.3mm/ 1/4" pin headset. More useful yet, in combo with the direct monitor button pressed in you can directly monitor(listen) to your mic with 0 latency. Lastly the nob in the middle is your gain for a 6.3mm/ 1/4" pin mic.

Asio4All driver was not working for me and the control panel was not showing up on windows 10 but your driver did and I can see my Behringer Um2 uphoria in audio settings now some how. Thank you so much now I can get audio recording going without the menacing hiss sound.

Thanks so much for this tutorial, best one out there that I have found for a couple reasons. It is super straight to the point, and there is no ranting about liking and subbing. Mine just came in after months of waiting (cuz of covid), and this tutorial easily got me set up.

The two left knobs are volume for the left and right inputs and output is for your speakers or headphones

i just plugged in my behringer to my computer and mic and it still sounds good. i didnt install the drivers
I think you'd only install those drivers if you be using DAW.

I did what you told. It picking up signal but no sound coming out of my laptop. Do i need headphone/studio monitor for this? Can't it use just the speaker from my laptop?

@@angelanicolazzo3311 yes i did. Turn out i'm dumb enough to know that interface work with headphone/studio monitor. There's where the sound should come from. Therefore, you need to buy a headphone or studio monitor to hear the sound. And if you are planning to buy a headphone please aware that most interface only accept 6.35mm jack. So you will need to buy a jack adapter 3.5mm to 6.35mm if your headphone didn't come with one or didn't provide them for you. I just buy the jack adapter and use a normal earbud for my phone and it still work. Btw, i'm new to the interface world so have to figure out how they work the hard way😊 hope you can manage to work yours!

Hello I’m back you where the most helpful I’m having a problem when I’m recording a song. My song only plays thru one headphone and when I play the song my viewers only hear it on left ear I thought it was my headphones but it’s not how do i fix it so the recording plays thru both ears??
sounds like you are recording with stereo audio. if you're on windows 10 go to settings> ease of access > audio > and turn on mono audio. also, make sure when exporting a video check the sound settings and make sure it is mono. lastly, make sure whatever you are recording with is recording through mono. this will ensure that your audio will come through both earphones.

Go to sound in settings and see if your mic and the um2 is connected

Hello. I enjoyed your video! I installed the drivers, rebooted but there appears to be an error. A friend of mine also has this audio interface but he instead has the "microphone" icon instead of what I have (which is the "line in" icon). He has multiple frequency and channel options which I'd like to have as well. I CAN set it to two channels 48khz but I'd prefer to have it on mono. What can I do to resolve this issue?

yes, the software needs to be downloaded. It is a driver for the interface so that the interface can work properly. I hope this helps!

Do you need the software in order to work it? The reason why I’m asking this is because I use OBS studio and it has an option to choose what microphone you use.
try without and if that doesnt work i would suggest downloading the software

Hi everyone. I got a problem. Since I've already installed Behringer U-Phoria UM2 with Windows 10 and driver Behrtinger 64 bit in my laptop, I could not hear sound output. I used Yamaha acoustic guitar APX-600 with preamp and Sound One software. How could I fixed the problem?
hey, i followed all the steps but when i listen to my self i can only hear it through the left side of my headset and I have confirmed it's not because of my headset. What should I do? I've tried reinstalling the driver and unplugging and plugging back in.
if you're on windows go to settings, ease of access and scroll down until you see audio. turn on turn on mono audio. this will make your audio do through both headphones. also, look for mono audio in your recording software settings if that's what you are looking for.

Im having a problem just bought this set. And I was tinkering it for the past 3 hours. Decided to put the gain to 100% then suddenly i can now hear myself and record I know its not normal but at least i know its working. Just wondering if what might be the problem is it the XLR cable?

you're wrong the red means its clipping, and the nob is the gain of the mic which makes it distort more the higher it is which cause the red flash which means CLIPPING the other nobs are if you plug in another source and headphones into it
