I can't see and hear enough of John Wilson's orchestra and certainly agree the only smiling conductor , obviously enjoying himself every time we see him . The old Musicals so enjoyable . The best singers too. He has to be the best conductor of our time . BRILLIANT !!!
Love, love, love, John Wilson and his orchestra. Proof for not judging a book by its cover. Never having seen Family Guy, I took no notice of Seth until hearing him sing on BBC Proms. The BBC Proms is my favourite annual programme. So sad that it's no longer accessible to those living outside the UK. Thanks TH-cam uploaders!
We were in the Albert Hall for this concert - it was an even more exciting experience than the video. I have never experienced anything like the explosion of applause and shouts of delight when “Mame” finished - it must have blown all the volume controls in the BBC sound mixing panels. When the world seems full of hatred I turn to this video and remember what glorious things people can achieve when they work together.
Listening and watching John Wilson & the orchestra he directs on BBC Proms from Royal Albert Hall & other venues is a true delight. And using You Tube, like Joe Namath says, it's all free!
I am much entertained by the way John Wilson conducts. He is a dancing, smiling Conductor, having fun while doing it. And he has the good looks too which matches with his style. Thank you John Wilson & your orchestra! Thank you BBC!
I keep coming back to his video concerts. He conducts with such zest and happiness. Its fun to watch him. He's like a kid in a candy shop. I hope he continues for many years to come.
This guy is just a kid. How does a kid know so much, so well. What a guy. His enthusiasm for this stuff runneth over. And, does he have a brother, to go? What a cute guy-kid, just swinging that baton. We are so blessed to see an Orchestra playing to the orchestra. Thanks to everyone who made this possible for us to see. Won't see this everyday....again soon.
@@JackMason-oq8lfThis is what passion and flow look like. I enjoy watching him as much as any of the performers. That authentic smile that we wait for and then swoon over. The music is in him and he loves his orchestra.
Absolute Class, Genius, such talent from everybody involved,... composers, arrangers, performers. They knew exactly what they were doing and the legacy lives on. They don't make 'em like that no more .... the emotional response on my part comes partly from the fact that this was the music my parents grew up with and danced to... it is ingrained in the family.
Isn't it wonderful, exceptional, to see and hear and orchestra where it feels as if the entire ensemble enjoys the music they are playing, how they are playing it, and the conductor who is leading them? You rarely hear a major symphony orchestra where the players are so dedicated to playing at their best. It isn't perfection for perfection's sake so much as precision and professionalism in the English tradition. John Wilson is responsible not only for the lavish arrangements, but for a spirit that imbues the orchestra and chorus. A marvel.

The sheer joy I can share with each musician is wonderful--and it is a terrific help in getting through these dark times in the U.S. Many thanks!
The John Wilson Prom specials are annual highlights, presenting great music with superb musicianship. For me, this is my favourite, with a very wide variety of music, Anna Jane Casey out-singing Streisand in "Don't Rain on my Parade", and a finale that tops them all (helped again by Ms Casey, an amazing performer).

The John Wilson Orchestra concerts were Proms highlights for several years, bringing together top London string players with top Big Band players, rounding them out to make a complete orchestra of amazing talent, a body that really shone under Wilson's direction (just watch the players faces to see how much they enjoyed working together). Add to that a range of brilliant vocal performers and a memorable concert was inevitable. These ranged through concerts mainly like this but also including an orchestral concert of music from films (NOT including Star Wars or modern block-buster scores) to a complete and brilliant fully-performed staging of "Kiss Me Kate" and also of "Oklahoma:!". But now? - by the time it's possible to assemble large enough audiences to resume having concerts like these, will Wilson and the BBC be in a position to again assemble the performers like these, or is it an era, an era too short (2009-2019), that will be more than fondly remembered by those who had the privilege to be there (or who, like me, can continue to enjoy watching repeats from high-quality off-air recordings - only the first, as far as I'm aware, being released for sale by the BBC.) [In the details above you will find the Balcony Scene from "West Side Story" listed, but it doesn't appear in the list showing the time of occurrence for each number and it's missing from this list. The scene had to be cut by the BBC to fit the 2hr broadcast time slot.]

Wonderful Music,Wonderful Memories Of Those Wonderful Films and Shows ,Thank You BBC
The recordings of the BBC Proms performances is, as far as I am concerned, a reason to have access to TH-cam. These concerts at the Royal Albert Hall with John Wilson conducting, are absolutely amazing. Thank you to all concerned for making these recordings available.
Please post more John Wilson concerts. Cant get enough of his music. Such a wonderful orchestra and shows. thanks
