I have a golden angelfish in my 60 gallon. My sister started calling it Jonathan, so that’s its name now. He isn’t a problem to any other fish, and he goes crazy when I bust out the food!

I got the best beginner advice.
1: Fall in love in a spicies
2: Do your research about that spicies
3: Get your equipment and start up your tank
    4: Let the tank cyckle
5: We now head back to step 1 and make a wish come true #BuyYourDreamFish
My point is there's no such thing as an beginner fish.
People go get what ever fish you dream of, just remember fish are not an display item but a pet.
Last words from me is being an aquatist is not a hobby but a life stile.
Much love from me to rest of the fish fam. ❤️

I agree with you but I do think there are fish that can be considered beginner fish because they are easier to take care of and more tolerant of mistakes that beginners make, like temperature and water parameters. I would consider bettas, goldfish, guppies, zebra danios, mollies, platies, and corydoras all beginner fish.

Angels are FANTASTIC! My dad and I started breeding them for local pet stores when I was 8 and stayed with it until I graduated high school. So easy! So beautiful! We had one called Big Bertha who grew to be 8" long from tip to tip and she gave us thousands of eggs! She had her preferred mate, but she would breed with any willing male. She would lay eggs in batches of 200-500 at a time and for a while, we just couldn't keep up with her as nearly all of them would develop, hatch and survive.

My favorite tank setup that I have had was a planted community tank that housed 1 angelfish, a school of harlequin rasbora and a school or corries. When I get the space and money to do so I will be doing it again but in a bigger tank so I can have big schools of the fish. That tank was so peaceful, relaxing and fun to watch.

Angelfish are cool because they originally came from soft water, and because of how long they have been in the hobby they have slowly been bred to do better in hard water. Because of this they can handle almost all water hardness, and a wide range of PH.

A friend in my local fishy family group breeds Angels and GMA (Geophagus Miribilis Aripuana) together. GMA is a peaceful Geophagus, earth eater Cichlid. They work well together. Just have to care for the tank well and watch if they are breeding at the same time. They tend to corral other fish to the other side of the tank when they have eggs or babies to protect, but don’t fight. Our friend uses 90g tanks, pfs substrate, couple fake plants. Peaceful dither fish are helpful as well.
Another great video, guys. 👏 Thank you both. My boyfriend is considering platinum angels for our 105g. He’s just trying to decide on a peaceful schooling dither fish to go with them. I’ve had some suggestions, but this is his project. This is the one tank I have a hard time getting in to for cleaning. Too high and deep for me. ;-)

When I get a taller tank I will most likely get some more angelfish, the one I have right now is really too shallow and is pretty full with the fish I have now. I do really like them, do have to watch what filters you have though. My grandma lost several of her angelfish when she got a new filter that was pretty strong and kept catching them in the current. It constantly flipped them over and into the sides and bottom of the tank. The other fish were fine but the angels didn't handle it well.

My angel is in a 29. I had issues with a rainbow shark and a Siamese Algae Eater. Both in recommendations from local fish store. Now it’s with 8 x ray tetras, a clown pleco, a dwarf gourami and 2 rainbow fish with no issues, outside of getting a bit selfish during feeding time

I have two of them, I used to have 6. The two killed the other 4, since then they go after all the fish in the tank fin nipping. I recently added a couple of Bay Snooks, they even try and nip them. Not very successfully but they try. I would not class them as a beginner fish, unless you you are only having a couple by themselves.

I have two beautiful young Angel fish in quarantine that I picked up 7 days ago. My plan was to add them to my heavily planted 55 gallon tank that is currently home to a school of Columbian tetras, orange laser corydoras, and a 5.5 inch Electric Blue Acara (who is a sweetheart). Today, I've discovered that my two angels are a breeding pair and are already laying eggs. Will I run into aggression issues if I add a breeding pair of angels to my 55 gallon community tank? I worry more about my Acara being attacked then vice versa. I do have a second 50 gallon planted tank which has just tetras and corys that I can add one of the angels to if it's advisable to split them up.

Is it okay if I only get one angel (I don’t want them to breed) and get tank mates of a different species ?

I just setup my 55gal angel tank. It's all theirs to share with the pepper Cory's. I bought 8. I was told the max for a 55 was 6 but I have other tanks if it ends up being too many. I don't want babies. I'm hoping they don't procreate. 🤣🤣
Frozen brine they just ignored, fresh blackworms they ignored. I went and got Cichlid sinking pellets and they went bonkers. 🤦‍♀️ I'm hoping as they get used to being in the tank and with feeding time they get better with the brine and worms.

I have 3 adult angels in my 55G. Can I add smaller ones or they'll be killed?

If you have a group of more then one species of angel will they pair off inter species and if so, should this be avoided?

The black Angel at the 8:30 Mark looks like something is going on with the fins.
My angel has a similar thing happening... Ian trying to understand if that's rotting, or fin has been nipped?

So say you have a pair of angels(not sure their genders), can you add more angels to the tank? Will the size difference cause problems?

I had to laugh because I'm cycling a 36g bowfront and my cousin just said I should put Oscar's in there because "they only get as big as the tank" 😒

As a beginner with a 55 gallon tank, how many angels would be an acceptable amount without overcrowding and leaving room for others like Corydoras and/plecos?

Great Video; however, I wish you had addressed how many to keep per tank volume. Also I keep hearing they are a sturdy hard fish, yet they always dye for me, I never had one last longer than 6 month. And I do maintain water changes on weekly bases, filters, all the basic things an advanced beginner would do. I also never have fish with them, that nips on fins.
