Saint-Tropez is a French commune located in the Var department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, capital of the canton of Saint-Tropez.
From the corsair city dominated by its 16th century citadel to the fishing village at the beginning of the 20th century, the first city liberated during the landing of Provence became in the 1950s an internationally known seaside resort on the Var Côte d'Azur thanks to the he craze for New Wave artists, then Yéyés, and finally, a European and American jet set vacation spot like tourists in search of Provençal authenticity or celebrities.
Its inhabitants are the Tropézien (ne) s1 and the city is colloquially called “Saint-Trop '”, as the writer Boris Vian declared in a short film, devoted to the city, in 1952. Wikipedia
