    Something interesting about this:
I'm an architect from South Africa. In 2017 I was part of the team that won the African Architecture Awards beating out a lot bigger hitters from all over the world.
Part of the reason was that the museum we designed was not made to be static but was made to serve as a work horse for the historic empoverished community it was in.
One of the big problems with our informal settlements (shanty towns) is that direction and locality becomes a problem when you have km of tin shakes with no roads and small pathways.
We used what3words as a system to start geo tagging businesses and events and as a method for people to send out their pop up businesses and events to attract others.

I use that all the time. Way before this video came out. And our local 911 center also is implementing it to help locate people who are in rural/ unfamiliar areas around here

Very handy app, in the UK the operators on the emergency line use it and will ask the person on the line for their what 3 words location. They ran ads urging people to download it

Normal people do not need that because we dont use iTrash, we just go to Google maps and get where ever we want to. And I tell this as a guy who does 50 000km a year.

That's amazing that this app is still around. I heard about them years ago on the Riding With Peterson TH-cam channel and didn't think they would stick since you can share pins 📌 on google maps

I’m a 911 dispatcher in an area that includes a state park that hosts visitors from all around the world, we use “what 3 words” when we get calls from the park, as well as the common hiking area from lost hikers to help our search and rescue team.

My brother told me about this years ago when I asked for the password to his wifi. He used the three words for where he kept the router. I didn't know it was still going and it's gotten bigger and better by the looks. Cool!

People in the comments seem to be forgetting the two applications for this, first that it allows it to be spoken rather than just through a link if thats more convenient for you, and second that its so much easier than reading out coodinates, especially in an emergency situation

Co ordinates do the job but you need 5 decimal places for a similar level of accuracy, which means you have to remember 10 numbers and human brains are terrible at remembering long strings of random characters
