  • Join me as we tidy up a couple of garden beds to make them look fresh again. Are your garden beds looking a little tired this time of year? Some of mine do, but after a bit of clean up and deadheading to remove the spent blooms or tired foliage, things begin to look more vibrant. Thanks for watching!

    I have violets growing all through the lawn which really isn’t a problem for us because we live in a rural area and don’t keep our lawn highly manicured. I kind of like them even though they do pop up sometimes where I don’t really want them. I have a much worse problem with wild buttercups, they take over everything.🌸💚🙃

    What about leaving the liatris for the birds to eat the seeds? They still need to breath so why cut them so low? Native violets are nitrogen fixers so you can keep them. Your garden looks so pretty.

    Why cut them back? Then what will the gold finches eat in the winter? Please consider leaving them up this year. They have great fall colors too. It's a shame you don't let them live out there lifecycle. They are still capturing energy and storing it in the roots.

    Would you trim back newly planted perennials after they flower? I’m wondering if they will put more energy into growing than establishing a good root system?🌸💚🙃 I guess if I listened at little longer before asking my question I would have had my answer. I’m still concerned about trimming back if their not growing very well? 🌸💚🙃

    • @Suburbanoasis
      @Suburbanoasis  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I probably would as that is why I trim back many of the clearance plants I purchase. It helps them recover and then put out new growth. 🤩🌿🌷💐

    While I’m sure that’s a pretty display having to cut everything back is a lot of work. Have age I am installing more shrubs and trees that don’t require pruning. I think due diligence is needed when planning out a garden to make it as low maintenance as possible.

    Hi Solei, this year I planted Fire Light Tidbit Panicle Hydrangea. Leaves are getting a little yellow. I planted next to last year hydrangea macrophylia , which is just fine. I was trying to find the answers on line. Buy I’m still not sure. I’m watering rather often, we have very dry summer and it’s a new plant. Is it iron deficiency? What kind of fertilizer I should add? Thank you in advance.

    How far apart did you plant the Liatris corms when they were first planted? How deep did you plant the corm? I read 12 inches apart is a good distance from each corm and 2-4 inches deep. Is that close to what you did? Did you ever save the seeds from Liatris and plant the seeds instead of the corms? Thanks.
