    Hi Soleil, I just wanted to give a heads up that the Jetstream oakleaf hydrangea is only hardy down to zone 5 (in the video it's labeled as 3-8). Unfortunately for me I haven't found an oakleaf that's hardy in colder zones! 😢 I've thought about trying one in a protected area since I'm in 4b, somewhat close to the border of 5a, but I haven't found the courage to push my luck just yet 😂

      I just wanted to reassure you that you can have an oak leaf hydrangea. I gave some to my cousin (zone 3) and they’re doing great. You just need to make sure you plant it in a spot that’s next to your house where it will get radiant heat from the home in winter. And plant on a side where it’s protected from the winter winds. Like, for example, if the wind normally blows onto the left side of your house, then you would plant it next to the house on the right side. And mulch heavily before winter hits. That way even if on the off chance the top dies, it will come back up from the roots. Good luck 👍

    Soleil, your hydrangeas are simply beautiful! You definitely have a wonderful collection, and I can’t wait to see the fall color on your Oak-leaf hydrangeas. I don't have very many different hydrangeas in my garden, but I like the Lava Lamp Flair best because of how it has performed in my landscape and planters. I bought a couple of new hydrangeas last week which will be fun to watch grow and hopefully bloom next year. I plan to try propagating them for use elsewhere in my yard. I won’t waste money on macrophylla hydrangeas ever again because here in zone 5a, they die back to the ground every year, so I never get blooms (since they bloom on old wood). I hope you have a wonderful week in your garden! ~Margie😊💐🦋

    Love these. Im really enjoying my pinky pinky this year. I fertilized at the right time this year and it has responded so nicely. I also purchased an invincibelle mini mauvette which blooms in pink right off the bat and a little quick fire and they are both happy and doing so well. In front of the house I have 3 bobo petites and they face east but it is just enough morning sun to keep them happy as well. Soleil, I have a hydrangea that blooms on new wood that branches off from an old last year’s stem. So is that considered blooming on old wood or new wood??? The blooms are very blue and fade to pink. The blooms are more Annabelle style, not panicles. I’m in the hot, humid Piedmont of NC, 7b. I would like to reduce the size but I want to know more about how I should do it. Can u help me??? Thanks!!

    • @Suburbanoasis
      @Suburbanoasis  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like a reblooming macrophylla??? If so, you may lose any blooms that would come on old wood the first year after pruning, but would get some blooms on the new wood later in the season. My best guess from here! 🤗🌿🌼🌻
