I was a Huawei P30 pro user (the last Huawei flagship phone with GMS before the ban). Loved it and missed it so much. After 4 years plus of using it I have to move to Honor Magic 5 Pro, as I need GMS. I'm not too sure downloading Google apps on latest Huawei phone will solve all the issues that current/earlier Huawei phone users (eg P40 pro) are facing, like Android auto connection. And there are some apps (small niche, only certain group professionals use them) either slow to update in AppGallery, or just never exist. It is not easy for those who aren't tech savvy enough to manually download and update those apps regularly (I'm definitely one of the tech noobs) Honor is the closest shadow of Huawei to me. I really hope one day Huawei phone will be back in full glory again.
i wouldn't call not being able to google suites for school a small niche. i got a not that well to do friend who bought a 500 huawei for their kid to use for google meet. only to be conned by the huawei salesman like this youtube creator. it cannot use google suites people! stop conning people

Without MicroG, Huawei no longer having a competitive advantage over other Android phones since most Android apps requires google services. I'm currently using Huawei Mate 40 Pro with Lighthouse (comes with MicroG) installed and so far everything works perfectly fine for me. I also use Aurora Store to get apps that are not available on AppGallery

I think Google Pay will work. But you wouldn't get cloud, chrome service. Some updates will not be automatically updated like Google Play Store, and so you will have to update the playstore yourself. Notifications can sometimes also be a problem. Sometimes, they will not be displayed on your display. Sometimes, it will work if you go to the settings menu and do it manually tik the boxes for every application. Most things can be fixed with sideloaded with APKs. Be very, very careful with getting a global rom. They are not official. What you will get is a phone that is unlocked and impossible to update like a one-time hit wounder.

I was gifted the Mate X5 (Chinese version). I installed Micro G and, recently, the Play Store. However, my Android apps do not run like they do on my Samsung S23, and the Huawei phone is not recognized by Android. I still need to have my old S23 nearby for authentication from time to time. Also, US carriers throttle back my data no matter what speed I connect at, and all of the apps in the App Gallary remain in Chinese even though I selected English as my language and Canada as my region. It's a sweet phone, but I struggle to use it. When I visit a Huawei store in Manila, all of the apps are in English and you can run Android or Harmony on the phones in the store. Is there anything I can do to have it run on Android? Or at least utilize English for the apps in the App Gallary? I would love to use this phone!
Normally when you change your phone and login to Google App Store it automatically installs all you apps which were on previous phone... can this option be available here?

The funny thing is every once in a while when you open the Huawei Health APP the Watch Faces will pop ups for like 1 second and then immediately vanish

Not really at all. I am using mate x3fold everything works perfectly
I confirm using Gbox is very laggy i don't about it being slow but I know when I play a game on Gbox is not same as if I had it normally

Harmony OS is not based on Android. It just has the apk library to be able to run Android apps.
