You guys should stay in San Andres, it's perfect for you, and Ricardo needs a stable environment and (Spanish) language during his vital formative years and schooling. You seem to have so many friends there too. Don't change a thing!
Seasons Greetings to you boat people and your people in Barrie & Italy. Thanks for the comments about the glasses. There are other, less expensive brands at Amazon. Hopefully, there are others horizontally oriented. Thanks again for your reviews.
Very good episode. I too wondered about all the gear you test if you kept it or not. But as usual, you make perfect sense which I’m aware is from all the years aboard. Oh yeah, I too just love the introduction, you could let it run for a full 5 minutes and I wouldn’t even skip ahead.😊
I see a lot of my favorite sailing channels moving to aluminum builds . A 55/60 tri" would be cool as ever. And you could design it for you and your family. Your cabin on the ocean. : ) But what you have now is awesome as well.
I'm planning on making a custom hard tender the same way that an OC Tender is constructed. It will be 12 ft. long with a 20 hp 2 stroke. Hopefully I'll be able to ski with it but if not, that's OK. That's a supper cool looking Hawaiian shirt! That's incredible how the doctors corrected the issue. I thought that they put you under and cut you open. By the way, I'm about ready to build a Cyber 48 so, I guess I'll see you out there.
Hey Rick and Maddie! Enjoyed the Q&A Video! So nice to see how well you two are matched with similar interests , working together and how you two are matched, Precious! Smart, taking a Break from Ocean Crossing during Little Ricky's young age. Like the New Hair-DO, Hate the Vertical Video Format,(we won't watch Vertical Video, makes me DIZZY). We've followed you for many years, and you have been a Very Experienced, Smart, Ocean Crossing & Caribbean Loving Captain! We enjoy all aspects of your Channel, the DIY, the Repairs, the Weather Trackings, the Adventures, the Friends (but not the Hospital Visits, glad you're healing well). So, Happy, Happy Holidays and looking forward to a Great, Save & Healthy New Year! LVGeorge
thanks for showing me how to add the side video to the centered video. Capt. Ric, I don't think you have to explain to the many shzTs that only sail from an armchair. I have sailed offshore on someone else's sailboat, overnight. the next morning, we couldn't get the engine to start, did all the system checks, then called for a tow very expensive one at that, the tow crew was pulling us to the marina, as we sat waiting, someone looked at the ignition and noticed the key was still switched on, then the question was "had anyone pressed the start button"? WELL, the engine started about halfway into the marina. Explain that to the charter company.
Thanks for the great Christmas post, we also are locked in the snow cycle of Minnesota. And while it’s pretty for Christmas it’s not my first choice to stay for the season. However my wife as a very aging father in care at Mayo, and our dog is on final days after being a great travel companion for years. So this year I’ll ski and tough it out. I’m with you on the dreadlocks, sometimes I just need a change. Sometimes it’s a hockey mullet to the chagrins of my hockey playing granddaughter, or a trim cut during summer heat. But during COVID I had to resort back to my HS look of hair that goes up and not long. I looked like a white version of Sly Stone. Now I just offer the occasional surprise of waking off the goatee and stash, nothing worse than skiing with icicle’s dangling from facial hair at 10 below. Carry on, and good to hear the health and voice are in better shape. My wife is going through some of that same esophageal issues and they haven’t affected voice yet but we learned a lot from your video’s.
Captain Rick merry Christmas 🎄 to you and family. I watch all your videos that pop up on my u tube channel. That fellas comment about electric to gas for your dingy bet he don’t live aboard like you guys. Your incredibly intelligent when it comes to your boat and what works. I don’t live on a boat.. but I would think that gas is the way to go.. as far as safety if you were sailing in treacherous waters and something happened and you were forced to get to safety in your dingy in rough waters gas is reliable not a battery engine. I think gas is the way to go. Again merry Christmas 🎄 cheers from Vancouver island 🏝
Merry Christmas and all the best in the new year! 🎅🤶🧑🎄- Thank you for sharing your adventures and many years of experience. Electric batteries will eventually evolve, for cars and boats, but unfortunately it seems they are not yet ready for primetime. I'm a hybrid driving Canajun, where - 24 is still considered cool.. not yet cold. 😉
At my advanced age, I am intrigued that I have actually gotten used to watching "vertical" clips on TH-cam (shorts) and don't really pay attention to the orientation of the screen. Having that said, I immediately 'know' when you're recording on your fancy glasses, and cut you some slack. 😅 I understand that they are not going to be the highest quality compared to your usual equipment. If I had to choose, I would say the same as you; say no to vertical video. I PREFER the ultra high quality landscape 1080p/8k There are times when I can pause a shot and zoom in to see a particular sign or label on something 😅 I'm a nerd like that.
I only watch TH-cam pass on the glasses. I love the show. I always thought a gas engine was the best way to travel long distances, it's about safety too. Merry Christmas guy's.
Merry Christmas Rick, Maddy and Ricky. I am sorry some people are assholes and expect you to meet their expectations. They are jealous IMHO. Live your life. Enjoy each day. 🎅🏻🎅🏻🎄🎄🎄🎅🏻🎅🏻 I hope Ricky gets his goggles from Santa.
On the subject of "hulls", the polynesians got my attention with their multi hull, then I saw the award-winning Sailing Fair Isle documentary on the hurricane, that the hurricane winds got under their surface to flip them like pancakes. I also am anxious about SV DELOS choice of the Catamaran. "Gone With the Wynns" had a new build with a reputable Catamaran racing company. Everyone is passionate about sharing information in a democratic pat for success, yet very threatening. One unknown was the conductivity effecting galvanic corrosion 😅 of CARBON FIBER. If you have to have a vertical format (I don't like it either) it seems like your soution is better than the black vertical bars. Personally, I'd just ditch the glasses until they did what you wanted them to do. Hey, no need to explain your decisions to anyone. None of us have thought about any of these situations one tenth on the time you have. Thank you for sharing your thought process with us, but Eff the haters.
Merry Christmas Captain Rick Moore 💙 Madelena and little Rickie ❤️ love William Oberlander of Tulsa Oklahoma and little dog Jolly and Jullie Bean and the Crazy Cats 🐈 😻 🐈⬛️
Yes, your comments on vertical and horizontal framing are accurate. Your expansion to full screen width does work. It's better than vertical for some reason. Meta has chosen a selfish approach. I prefer open source. Zuckerberg bought it so he calls the shots. I'm guessing the future will be bright
Your voice sounds great! I prefer the horizontal format for a full screen view. Here in the Midwest, 75ºF is tee shirt and cut-off weather. :¬) Webhead USA
Hey Rick and Maddy, and of course Richie! Merry Christmas! The biggest challenge is all the illusions created on TH-cam and probably the reason you take so much heat for leaving your electric outboard behind. I can barely power my fridge now from solar, and it looks like many struggle to accept the reality. You would have to run your generator a lot in the South Pacific in general, and especially in South East Asia 4-5 months of the year. This is even before thinking about your electric outboard. My domestic consumption is as you know extremely low, and with 6-7 kwh of energy in on a good day from solar and storage bigger than many "fully electric" sailboats, Still I can't even power my fridge sitting at anchor. The green scam is so transparent it's ridiculous. But people want to believe and not to be realistic. So it's a religion and I for sure have pissed off many "believers" showing the truth outside their church. Just ignore it and enjoy your new epic dinghy! It's your car for anything from adventures to stocking up on food etc. Regarding my dinghy, the size is only because I need to be able to land it at a beach alone. I can have a Highfield 370 inside my tender garage. Also the trouble with the platform I believe you forgot the reason, as it was because of the forklift that crashed into BE FREE on the hard. But it's true some big wakes can basically create the same damage. Anyway, it has worked flawlessly ever since leaving Panama. Not that it is important, only details. All the best and sending you much love and warm greetings from Indonesia It is still very hot but rains a lot every day. Thomas
I agree with you rick over those glasses Horizontal. As people use laptop or computer monitors which have widescreen HD and 4k to 8k. Perhaps Google should now make glasses with horizontal camera and night vision to upset Meta.
Vertical is nice for capturing “B” roll and impromptu interactions . But I’m not a huge fan either!!! Thanks! Captain Maddy and Ricky Merry Christmas guys!!!!
Regarding the glasses, I think they would only be good for teaching were it is important for for viewers to see exactly what your looking at and you being hands free. Maybe face to face interactions as well.

Merry Christmas! The electric propulsion people won't get over it that it just doesn't work for everybody. The safety of my family comes first and I'll burn whale oil if It came to keeping them safe. You do what you do and not everybody has to go through the canal and cross the Pacific to make content. I enjoy your videos and your family life and casual moving along. I feel like you stay longer and meet more people and thrive in the community. Fair winds!
