I can’t help but compare Ren’s videos to the stuff I’d see that had HUGE budgets on MTV in the early days & it shows how bloated those budgets can become without a good reason. Some illicit painting in the dead of night, a few mates & a lot of fun is more my speed. 💜
YES. On first viewing of Ren's vidfeos I was so caught up in the quality of the music that it took me a few songs to sit back and realise. 'Hang on, these videos are totally engaging, that I never once thought about there budget or drew comparisons, and I, if anything, they were more entertaining and superior...matching the quality of Ren's music.

The more I hear of Rens video making, the more I get a picture of pirate scale video construction. The resourcefulness and ingenuity of a whole group of people ,some of who are never named , is amazing. Listening to Ren talk about the foliage raid to decorate the apartment for Animal flow makes me realise just how innovative the team had to be to create some of these memorable videos on next to no budget. This is one of my favorite songs by Ren and the homage to horror movies in the video is amazing. There is a funny story about the booth with the writing that he tells in a stream i think. If i remember correctly, an officer cane by as they were painting it white (its like a bus stop booth or some thing) they told them they were cleaning up graffiti....nevermind tgat they would turn atound and write all over it themselves. If i messed that up, please one of the renegades correct it.
My only complaint with this song and video is that they're both too short.😢 It's high up on my list of favorites so I could use another 10 minutes or so of it

The brass on this one just MAKES ME SO HAPPY and I really enjoy Ren's vocals here - I'm no huge Billy Talent fan but some of Ren's delivery here remind me so strongly of some of the random Billy Talent songs I'm vaguely familiar with. And I LOVE this video.

What is easy to overlook is how uninhibited and how dynamic the vocals. It isn’t for everyone, but man it is fun if you can dig what he is doing. Expressively he goes all out, complete abandon but all deliberate and calculated, clear and precise. Every word is delivered fully and with style.

I think we all know that these vids can be done easy if you have bottomless pockets, but most of rens vids are very low budget maybe just a few hundred pounds. But thats why we all relate and appreciate them. I think low budget is also part of the REN Plan.

The 'padded cell' is actually a doorway (hence the hinges and whatnot you could see) that they may or may not have been responsible for painting white and writing all over it in the middle of the night... as well as doing the filming of that 'room' that night.
