Hi! I’ve been binge-watching your videos for the past few weeks and absolutely love them. I’ve just started growing veggies and flowers, and I was wondering if you could explain the differences between pot / grow bag sizes for planting? Thanks a lot!
Wonderful! So glad you love the videos. For any plant, you want to have grow bags a bit larger than the required pot size. This is because the grow bags have ability of air-pruning roots, so roots in grow bags do not grow to the wall/edge of the bag and stop short about an inch or so. Where in pots, the roots grow and fill the pot completely. So you want to select a grow bag that is a bit larger than a pot for the same size. For example for a 10" pot, the equivalent grow bag would have 12" diameter. Because the bottom of both are touching the ground, the depth can be the same. As a rule of thumb, you want to have the plastic pots fit perfectly inside a grow bag, but not too loose. My 8" pots fit in 3 gallon bags, 10" pots in 5 gallon bags,....I hope this answers your question. Happy gardening and thank you so much for your comment! 😊
So glad you like the video. I don't have an indoor setup like grow light or greenhouse. I usually keep my seed trays in a shed like room in my backyard until seeds germinate. If it is too cold, a heat mat is occasionally used. As soon as they pop out, I move them outside in indirect sunlight (under a patio umbrella), or 3-4 hours of direct early morning sunlight. I will bring them inside at nights if temperature drops below 40-50F (5-10C). I will see if I can come up with a video on that. Happy growing and and thank you so much for your comment!😊
So glad you like the videos and found them helpful. I will add it to my list to do a video on how I do composting. Thank you so much for your feedback and your comment!
