I get the feeling that the gender option is really just there as a way to see if a male wave would be feasible. Holo stars only happened because lots of dudes were applying for hololive so if lots of dudes apply for holoEN the likely hood of holostars EN rises. Holostars recently teased that they had new talents coming out in the new year so maybe new branches in ID and EN will pop up. And I mean Nijisanji EN’s male vtuber wave was a pretty good success, all of them already have over 50k subs so that’s gotta play into hololive is decisions at some level. Sorry this was kind of a rant I just really like holostars and I think holostarsEN would give the whole group more recognition, which they deserve.
Honestly for me the most intimidating factor is the question of 'do you have an existing content creator channel and what numbers have you pulled?' I know it's not a necessity but at the same time I can't shake that self-awareness of knowing some of the talents were already.. well.. talented, as well as being content creators in their own right. As a result I keep thinking that before applying I should at the very least take the time to run a channel and build a bit of a repertoir. My internal logic for that, at least, is that even if it doesn't necessarily pull numbers, it prepares you for the life of a content creator by introducing you to the ins and outs of making videos, streaming and coming up with content. That way you aren't just stumbling blind into things without any understanding of what you might be faced with if you actually do get the job.
I feel exactly like you but people gotta understand their side, if they’re looking for employees or talents they obviously want the more qualified ones they can find in the market since they will spend money on you and pay you. Why would you spend resources on an average person that has no experience in engaging with an audience and making them want to keep up with you? That’s how it works

I don't think the numbers are as important to them as what you've done and the style of your content. Even if you had no real audience, did you sit down to stream every week? How long does it take you between uploads for edited or produced content? A great factor for selecting a talent whose primary job description is entertainment is diligence. A Holo debut is gonna give you the audience, but it's on you to give them a reason to come back for you.
I think they have both kind of applications where they already have characters ready or where they make them specifically for you. I highly doubt that they have perfect models like Callis reaper rapper just lying around and she just fit it perfectly.
I think for HoloEN gen 1 and 2 they probably wanted to play it very safe, considering they were opening a new EN branch and wanted to ensure the success of these new talents. Maybe there is a possibility of them being more lenient with the girls' models as they release more and more generations for Holo EN.
The open audition does specifically state "A popular illustrator will create your very own character!" and "A popular illustrator will design an exclusive character for you [...]", but that doesn't necessarily mean that they don't have certain restrictions or criteria that you're character would need to meet, such as whatever theme your debut wave has. For example, a gen like HoloCouncil could be told what their character's attribute is, and then have to include that aspect in the character design.
On Reddit in the official post announcing these new open auditions, T-Chan (Main mod and someone we know works with the management) answered the question "will it also include male applicants?" with "YEP!". Now I might be reading way to much into this but that is a really strong response that brings me a lot of hope! Great video btw, I really think you nailed most of what people need to keep in mind. Can't wait to see how these auditions turn out.
Even if I had any modicum of skill or talent, I certainly don't have the confidence to even pretend that I could handle that kind of pressure. Still, this was informative and somewhat entertaining background while I was grinding.

On the possibility of males joining, besides other comments I've read so far I will also add that the current Holostars commented that they wanted to bloom by themselves before bringing overseas talents, so maybe they're giving them time to work and all, after all there's not really a need to rush things like this. Also It seems that on these later months there were a restructuration on management and they're developing thier games and all, this wouldn't really affect things so much but there's the chance that they want to present things tightly and I mean there's a chance they might slow their pace with the new talents(it's just a possibility, I kind of doubt it since we just had EN Council and JP6 recently). Lastly, we're still in covid era, they prove being able to find work arounds and push their stuff forward but we all know there's still some effects around that might make them more cautious when it comes to try new projects, like the fact that EN Myth can't do their 3D debut basically because Japanese goverment is not making the right call here and they're not letting foreigners in Japan, even ones that had their families there, so while there's progress on a lot of things I think they might be cautious. This in fact holds back other things, if things were a bit different I'm pretty sure they'd be planning a live concert with all branches for example, sorry if I derailed a bit, but I think that trying to get a broad view of whats happening can be useful. Btw, ty for the video, idk if I will ever try to even be a vtuber, but I have been saving some info like this just in case I decide to apply any given time. Still, I think I might try to be an indie before that if anything :)
Gosh, I’ve always thought of auditioning, but I don’t really think I would do exactly well. Knowing myself, either ways I’d probably decide to not join even I got the chance to or not. Plus, I don’t really have a talent anyways, and I don’t really fit into some of the requirements, so a no-brainer already, haha.

I highly suggest so. Honestly hololive looks for consistency and talent. So you need to be able to show you can last the test and fires of content creation
I mean… would’ve kinda been a waste if one of them gave up, right? There are probably a lot of persistent people that we don’t know about because they haven’t been picked, we only know about the ones that got in, obviously. So the chance of making a model SPECIFICALLY for them is highly unlikely.
i think this is a good thing. so far they have been really selective with the en branch and the talents, and it has caused some issues due to inacessibility for some viewers. really hope they are open to expand on the reachability of the branch abit more, but in all honesty i guess if it ends up going in the same direction timezone wise i guess its fine as long they provide talent that can fit more niches to increase the varity. fingers crossed that kiara will get a couple of europeans beside her for a upcoming generation.
The onl problem I have is the video submission, do I create a character? Do I just "hi my name is government name and heres a lot about me"? Is it both???? Do I record for both?

I'm sure there's a lot of people currently that are simply looking at this and the auditions and thinking they don't have what it takes when in reality, they probably do but they are simply doubting themselves. To be honest if they can't muster up the willpower to audition anyways, even on the off chance they get in then they wouldn't be able to handle all the negative eyes on them that comes with the position. If they're not strong enough to apply regardless of their doubts, then they're not a good fit for hololive anyways More than anything, you need a willpower that won't break no matter what.
@@dicequeenDi that is a great point. A lot of people seem to forget that these idols have to deal with stress on the regular. A good willpower would be a nessasary requirement.
That cut off adieu makes me think... oh crap did the video file save correct? Did my intro randomly cut off mid sentence because the video exported imperfectly and cut a half sec shorter than I wanted? Or more likely did youtube just screw up my intro video?
Im planning to apply but the problem is I have 0 experience streaming and posting videos so far, so I need to start but I need help finding ways to be captivating and gaining an audience. rn I'm 17 but my birthday is 2 to 3 months away, and I need to start now so I can grow some experience and show that I can be a diligent worker in this field. I've been wanting a career like this my whole life, and this is my opportunity. Maybe some advice on how I should start building up by streaming rn?
I honestly can't provide any practical creation advice. But I just wanna encourage you to go ahead. There's nothing wrong with trying it at all, but be prepared for failure aswell to ground yourself into reality. Be confident in your capabilities, even if you fail and you're talented as fuck, there may be another factor involved like how they may be finding something else at that moment. Regardless be confident with your own desires.

sorry if I misunderstood, but it isn't necessary if you can bring a lot to the table eg: good singing, good gaming skills and basically just good at entertainment/social skills. having a status as a previous content creator would help immensely though (for both you and the company, and the reason why I say 'you' is because you'd have experience dealing with a ton of people), especially if you were a large one. if you're not good at most of the above however, i'd say it would be mandatory to have been a content creator before you join either agency.
I feel almost certain that EN Myth was scouted out and the designs were made with the talents in mind. This may not be true for talent going forward but that first gen seems way more talented than what I would expect a blind audition.

Ina and sana go way back and their art levels are about the same, so why choose ina over sana, was it the character bias, ie ins just happened to fit the character better than sana? Some of these girls didn't even have a yt channel, just a twitter or pixart. There are thousands of artists on both so how can they possibly scout? Plus there were vtubers before holoen, so why weren't they scouted? Scouting is just extremely unlikely.

Don't take it too seriously, do it like an exercise, whatever preparation you do to make the application will give the opportunity yo evaluate what you can do, or even see how to keep honing your skills. Remember, it's open application and once every three months, and there's a lot of other agencies out there, and you can even go as indie, so if you put it that way it makes it look less like a big deal.
I have a question, I looked at the apps and stuff and it said you don’t have to have a model/body when applying but if you do they will look at it and let you know if it is good/matches your persona/how you present yourself and how you act out your character. Is this true that they let you keep a model if it matches your vibe?
