Snap On Spinner TMS70A vs Blue Point Spinner BLPSD14. Is the extra $14 for the Snap On worth it?

  • The 1/4" Snap On Spinner TMS70A is designed differently compared to the Blue Point Spinner BLPSD14. Is the extra $14 for the Snap On worth it? I think so because of the fit on a ratchet. The extra gap in space between the knurled wheel and the ratchet body makes all the difference in the world.

    If you’re on a budget, the Williams 30010 is the same as the Bluepoint, and only $8. I have one. Works just fine, good knurling.

      Yeah it’s odd. Williams makes the 3/8 and 1/2 in USA but not the 1/4.

      I got it for $3.29, and I noticed it's very wobbly after trying it on three different ratchets including Proto and S-K

    Hi Doc, I have now watched a lot of your videos from here in England, tuning in each day now as its all good stuff. how about some updates on how you are getting on with some of the previously unboxed stuff. I'm thinking in particular of the pb swiss hand screwdriver, the hotu power screwdriver and the knipex stuff and others.

      Hello again Doc
      Thank you for another Great Video. I don't think, I have ever used a spinner. I like the idea. My newest ratchets are the Harbor Freight Roto Head Ratchets and Husky 144 tooth Ratchets. Would be possible to do a updated review of actual work. Again thank you

    I like a finger spinner for tighter spaces, when space is no concern I use a spinner handle.
    I would prefer the blue point design myself, but my go-to 1/4 ratchets have a much smaller head and the BP spinner would work perfectly.

    The Koken Zeal series spinners give the best of both of your featured spinners. The same stick out of the Snap On and the coarse knurling of the Blue Point. That said...grabbing off of your local SO truck for one of their versions is handy

      @rwbishop 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The Koken spinners are indeed very good! They also offer extensions with nicely knurled drive ends. The 3760-250 for example.

      @ozyrob1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes. Second that. Try some Koken Zeal Doc. I'd be interested in your thoughts on it.

    • @rwbishop

      @@ozyrob1 Yes, the Koken 'Z' stuff is nice, but if I'm not mistaken, the above mentioned knurled extensions are all non 'Z'. Incidentally, Koken produces quality stuff, but their site & catalog leave a lot to be desired.

      I have a set of Koken 3/8 wobble extensions, not Zeal but still a nice fit. My Wera quick release ratchet doesn't play well with the Koken extensions though as the ball detent inside the extensions are deeper than I have seen before so the release button stays locked down inside the anvil.

      I just got a 1/4” Koken spinner in, it’s perfect.

    At first I thought those were so you could use a socket without a ratchet, and turn it by hand…. The wera sockets have a knurling around it so you can use them on their own… pretty neat.
    Ever see the craftsman professional stubby screwdrivers? I think you would really like them. I just uploaded a 30 second or so clip showing them on this account/channel.

    I have these Snap-on spinners in 1/4 & 3/8 inch, and like you said, they are very handy for when the fastener is near the end of the threads. I also have the Kobalt spinners, and they are significantly much bulkier than the Snap-on version, and it also has that flat side that makes it sit flush against the ratchet like your Bluepoint. Snap-on is worth the few extra $$ here.

    I hav about six or seven of them in 3/8 inch , and wouldnt be without them , every ratchet I lift has one on it , they mess with the quick release of course , but its a fair trade.

    You realize bluepoint is owned by snapon? The engineering design generally goes like this: first you design the good tool, the snapon and then you design the cheap option, taking away features i.e. crapifying it. Manifacturing cost is irrelevant, both of these may cost the same, the cheap one may even cost more in some cases.

      ^^^Such insight and marketing expertise! Even told us that BP is owned by Snap-on. Who knew? Impressive.
