    After watching countless videos on granny videos, I was about to give up. Then I decided to watch yours and oh my days, you nailed it. I was able to follow along, you are the only who took time to explain each of the corners properly by referencing to already made squares. Now I am confident enough I can make a granny square pattern. Thank you so much.

    Hi, very nice granny, one thing, at the end of round two there's no need for a final chain as you've started with four chains. I like your videos, I learned the waffle stitch with you, thanks for sharing!

    • @SydMountaineer
      @SydMountaineer 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I noticed that too- plus, when the join is made with slip stitch to join the round into that extra chain (4th), it adds an additional chain, which makes the corner way too large. Just making a slip stitch join alone makes the corner too large, and that's without the extra 4th chain. Many crocheters do a chain 2 (vs ch4), so the join makes 3.

    I love this but I would like to know the colors you used.

  • @1jmass
    @1jmass 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I love these colors! Your directions are clear, but why do you do 4 chains at the beginning of the first group of 3 double crochets? Usually the 4th chain is used as a chain one between groups, but you have it as part of the group itself. Just wondering because I am always looking for new and different ways of working a pattern.

    • @simonleal2456
      @simonleal2456 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You do four because the first 3 act as a placeholder for you double crochet and the fourth chain acts as the space where the gap for the next layer goes

    Can you tell me why, at the beginning of each new round, you chain 4 as the first double crochet instead of only chaining 3? I am still a tad confused by that. From my understanding ch 1=sc, ch 2=1/2dc, ch 3=dc, ch 4=tc. Is it because you use one for the slst to close up the round?

      Because it is the last stitch of a cluster and you always chain one at the end. Chain three for the height and chain one for the space.
      This is the first I've seen anyone do it like this, but it all adds up in the end. In doing this, the slip stitch joining doesn't break up the first cluster, as I've seen happen on some of my other granny squares.

    • @krisheathman9053
      @krisheathman9053 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Kel P if that’s what she was doing, she’d make three more right afterwards but she only makes two. That would make sense if she chained 4 (as a dc and ch1) then made three more dc, but she only adds two dc to her four chains. It’s an error, plain and simple

      Francean Gospodarek hi! If you turn round the granny square each time you start a new row, you'll end up with a reversible motif.

    Nice, easy to understand instructions, but I find it unusual that you start each round with 4 chains rather than 3. In crochet instrs generally, I see 3 chains representing a DC.

    I am a beginner crocheter and have only made about 20 or so granny squares so I am by means no expert but I do not care for the way you ended the yarn in the purple round. Weaving in as you go seems like a good idea but unless I am mistaken it appears that your yarn is very visible on the one side. I would worry that the yarn could get hooked on something and eventually fall apart. Also, I don't like that look.
