I gave a thumbs up as this helped me get started on my device. I think this covers all the bases without going too far forward. Yea it's probably not the best....but for free, i'd say its highly effective and more than does the trick. Thanks again to the video creator.
55xx series is a mix from the PIX firewall and the "VPN 3000" series. The vpn 3000 series is absolutly impossible to config with cli :) on the asa you sometimes have to but its not that far from regular router.
I've gone through the factory default settings and I type the 192.168 address into the address bar, it won't let me get to the ASDM page. It only says IE cannot display the webpage. Any clue what's going on?
if you cannot save the information to ASDM, add static ip to your PC then you will be able to connect to ASDM. Also you can save the changes from the command line...
Is there a specific version of Java JRE needed to actually be able to get into ASDM? It says that I need to install java webstart. I installed JRE 6u43 but it is still saying I need to install web start. I'm on windows 7 32 bit and it says it's cisco ASDM 6.4(1) if that helps.
this got me for a bit myself, try this: Internet Explorer > Cog icon / Tools / Alt+X Select: Compatibility View Settings Enter the ASA’s web portal IP address in: Add this website: but, in additon, you will also need to add the ASA IP into the Java control panel
I have changed my ASA IP and the IP is pintable in my laptop which is connected to the wifi, but when I type that IP in ASDM-IDM Launcher with no username and password it gives me an error message "Unable to launch device manager from 192.168.**.**". You have any idea why?
"Whatever word " is used lot of time which make this tutorial not up to the quality. He didn't explain IP right way as well. So far, it was nice tutorial.
Good quality video, but you keep talking about how I can change to 10 network, or 172 network, or 192 network or whatever. Then you spin your mouse around and type in a bit, then delete.
It would have been more helpful for you to create a specific example and then implemented that example. Showing the ASDM's various fields and telling us we can put whatever we want in each field isn't very helpful.
I guess we have very low expectations. You keep "humming" the entire time; try a script and practice a few times, you will notice that your hesitation goes away. Don't blame me, you wanted feedback right?
These routers are unbelievable garbage. The very fact that you need to install Java to even access them is a tribute to their frustrating design. I absolutely hate everything about them.
Best tutorial ever made. He explains every move slowly which is so awesome to absorb every bit of the tutorial.
Congrats.
I ❤️ how you break things down nicely , THANK YOU!
Great video. One of the best I have seen. I am actually excited for part 2!
Actually, as a neophyte in ASA / AP configurations. I found this to be a very useful video!
