    Morning Kenny from 🇬🇧.
In my 30 yrs as a truck mechanic I've never had the need to use a puller on any steering wheel, not even those fitted by Satan 😉
Grab the wheel opposite sides, 9 & 3 and push with the left and pull with the right then switch, push with the right and pull with the left. Work your way round the wheel 10 & 4, 12 & 6 etc.
Usually they pop quickly but for those peskies it may take a while but trust me the thing will as you guys say YEALD. No hammers and drifts, no damaged steering shaft or mullered steering wheel Centre boss.
Same idea with wiper arms. I know snap on sells wiper arm pullers or used to.
Lift the arm up, remove the nut then rock the arm 90° to the hinge action while the arm is up. A couple of back & forth rocks and the arm just gives up.
Please don't think for one minute I'm trying to teach you how to suck eggs, just passing on a couple of things that served me well during my mucky hand years.
    Take care, stay well.

Remember having to “improvise” a puller for removing a steering wheel on a 1995 Volvo FH12, what a pure bugger it was to do 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

Thank You for the awesome video Kenny. I did mine on a 2001F150 after the horn stopped working. I brought the old one with me to the parts store and the new one didn’t match. I went to the dealer and they had the same one as the parts store. The original is discontinued and I had to modify the new one to make it seat all the in. It still works the same although. I took the old one apart and just like you said, the ribbon wires were broken all the way across. By the way, my truck has 305,000 miles on it, so I figured the clock spring had a nice long lifespan.
    Much Love

Wow Kenny talk about De-Ja-Vu! Had a customer late last week that stated cruise control was inop. Noticed the SRS ( Airbag ) light on, hooked up the scan tool and sure enough, the clock spring has an open circuit. Did a quick check in wiring diagrams to confirm the harness side is doing its' job and to confirm that the cruise control ( which is on the steering wheel ) power and signal is a part of the clock spring. Changed the clock spring and kilt 2 birds with 1 stone 😉

Old Sears mechanic guy here. Never stop learning when it comes to cars. I still work on my own cars but can't do it for a living anymore with these bad knees. Love watching you and Uncle Tony's garage and others. Trying to get better at the electrical side. The cruise control on my 98 Chevy lumina stop working and the airbag light comes on sometimes. Thought it was the cruise control switch that was bad but after watching your video I am wondering if it's connected to that clockspring also. Going to have to do some research on that

Great advice for reconnecting the battery and not getting an air bag in the face. The only things I would have done differently is on the first attempt to pull the steering wheel off and where I put the airbag when it’s disconnected.
Experience has taught me to leave the steering wheel bolt in a few turns as a ‘stopper’. I was changing the steering wheel on one of my previous (pre-airbag) cars and nearly broke my nose when the flaming thing came off suddenly and hit me in the face. Let’s just say at the time my language was definitely not polite and I’ve always left the bolt in since then.
I was also taught to slide the airbag under the car while it’s off. If it does randomly go off it won’t launch across the car or the workshop and scare the cr*p out of you.

the "squib" is the charge that sets off the airbag. It is powered and checked via the clockspring

One point to make note of, with the clock spring locked in place, ensure the wheels are in the straight ahead position, and not one full turn to the left or right, with the wheel upright. That would have the same effect as allowing the clock spring to turn free.

I dont remember doing any airbags on those for the takata recalls but i do know those year chryslers had issues with the steering wheel emblems becoming shrapnel so they still had airbag recalls. Recalls involved changing airbag cover.

My 2010 Grand Caravan is currently missing the steering wheel emblem because it got hit with the recall and the dealership hasn't had a new one in stock any time I've been in with it since they removed it. (I'm also still waiting on a replacement occupant restraint control module, which is why *my* airbag light is on. Hopefully they manage to get both at once.)

When removing a steering wheel that is a bit tight a sharp tug with both hands will usually work - but leave the bolt partially threaded on or you may hit yourself in the face.

Safety tip: Loosen, but do not completely remove the Steering Wheel Bolt. When you're pulling it Left and Right, you don't want it to fly off into your face or chest.

If it’s a right hand drive car you could perhaps sit in the passenger seat and VERY carefully reach over to turn the key? It’ll still be a very loud bang but at least you won’t get smacked in the face!

It's okay not recall not everyone has total recall asI recall .Seriously replacing an airbag /clockspring can be dangerous & slow & steady is the most important thing with this type of repair.I sit in the passengers seat & turn the vehicle on after doing it also READ THE INSTRUCTIONS if you are doing it on a vehicle you have not done it on before or if it is the first time you are attempting it.(If that was easy I would hate to see one that was hard my GM-H AUS was heaps easier than that.)Cheers
