I was just going to say he confused chloroform with mitochondria. Sure chlorophyll sounds like chloroform but nothing indicates that he mixed up chlorophyll in there.
9:43 I'm 47. When I was growing up 80's, my grandpa had a a payphone mounted on the wall in his basement. He worked for "Ma Bell" his entire life, which would explain how he got it. I remember playing with his POTS line test sets as a kid. Man, learned some cool stuff regarding analog phone lines because of him. Thanks for the good memories I had forgotten about Matt.
I still have quite a few of those Tiger electronics games from my childhood (Batman the Animated Series was my fav) as well as Nintendo video game watches like Donkey Kong, Star Fox, Robocop, the BEST one by far (that I got from mailing I cereal box UPC’s) Tetris. Seriously my Tetris watch is amazing.
The crossfire was one of my earliest memories. It was Christmas of 1996 I was 3 years old at the time, one of the reasons I remember so well, is my father was very sick and was in the hospital and got to come home few days before Christmas. And this a toy I remember my older brother getting and I remember the comercial jingle very well

1:01 That candle made to mask cigarettes smell guys 😂😂😂
Really brings back memories of watching Saturday morning cartoons when they would play that Crossfire commercial incessantly. I wanted one so very much as a kid.
You can totally use a SIP-ATA adapter and connect it to a VoIP system to turn that pay phone into a working telephone again. Less than $100 more tech, brand new.
The crossfire was an 80s toy here in the UK. I had many a happy hour playing it. The only difference to the one youve got is there was only one "puc" and it was round not shaped like yours
4:33 Damn editor this one get lost in purgatory? 🤣 This is the old Matt i need that new Matt. lmfao A PAY PHONE! NO WAI!!! I totally remember these i used to keep a quarter and a dime just so i could call for a ride home. Man i miss those days.
I thought I was going to be upset without seeing a tomagachi and things of the like. This video is WAY better than it had any right to be. 15/10 would call that payphone.
I gotta be honest I almost forgot CrossFire was something that could be actually bought and played and not just the theme song for my childhood. If I can find like a cheap etsy knockoff or a reproduction I might just buy this just to say I have it.
Oh good old payphone. Finding phone numbers in innocent magazines and then going with your friends to the closest payphone just to find out it's just a pre recorded audio 😂
Hey, I still have a toob of POGS!! Right next to my Lion King collectors cards, XFiles VHS, Garfield stickers, NIFTY Panda keychain, and HANSON CD, all in my LISA FRANK stationary box!!
Two-ways were the early 2000's, not the 90's. They were a VERY short-lived device type. And keep in mind, we're talking specifically about pagers that included QWERTY keyboards. The mid-to-late 90's devices that used preset phrases that you could select from were capable of sending and receiving those messages, but they were not referred to as "two-ways."
I had a pager as a kid in the 90s. I was a skater and went skateboarding everywhere and my Mom felt safer if I had a pager, and if I was out too late or she needed something, she would page me, then I’d have to track down a pay phone and call her back, sometimes poor and using 1-800-Collect or something like that. I’m too old. Ahh!
Fun fact: Austin pop out into the world same year after but a month after I officially left school at 16(england based! left on the Friday, started my a level prep the following Monday.) damn I’m old😂.
Up until 2021 the NHS in the UK still use pagers for messaging as they dont interfere with any electronics. At the time they were responsible for 10% of the still existing world pager usage. I beleive the last pager network has now been shut down in the UK after the NHS phased their usage out.
There were only 2 types of people who had pagers in the 90's, doctors and drug dealers. If you were a kid with a pager people would think you were a drug dealer. God I miss the 90's.
As did a girl at school (17-18ish) who was part of a Far Right 'Political Party' and was a runner for them. She was very proud of it and her part in organising football hooligans etc.
early 90s that was true, but they got hugely popular with teens in the mid to late 90s: a bunch in my middle school had them, they wer3 city kids who weren’t drug dealers even if they knew the dealers
I miss the smoking section because you could go out to eat then get the free experience of silently… sometimes not so silently…. Judging other people until you quickly realize that the whole restaurant becomes the smoking section 😅
I was in jr high the last time I used a pay phone, my father had forgotten to pick me up from school haha. So it had to be around 2003 I think ha. They weren’t around much after that, I had to walk to a gas station
1:35 I think Matt mixed up chloroform with chlorophyll, which is impressive because that isn't the powerhouse of the cell either, that's mitochondria
I was just going to say he confused chloroform with mitochondria. Sure chlorophyll sounds like chloroform but nothing indicates that he mixed up chlorophyll in there.
@@hamzasultan96 Because chlorophyll is how plants get energy, while mitochondria is how animals get energy
Hahah I caught the same thing and saw his thought process. Also what would a mitocondria candle even smell like?
I would've made the same mistake.
@@BonJoviBeatlesLedZep Mitochondria doesn't burn energy, it produces energy by burning "fuel" (read: digested food derivatives)
dude straight up bought a literal payphone, this is why matt will never be left alone with the company credit card ever again🤣
i myself bought one a year ago just because lol
believe it or not, they make great accent pieces for rooms and are actually popular, some folks go all-in and get whole phone booths too
@@wayrcwestcoasti prefer one over the old wooden telephones that folks seem to like putting up
@bostonrailfan2427 my dad bought a 1914 Northern electric and I found a 1918 northern electric phone. They are amazing old machines
I can't believe Matt bought a whole payphone on ebay, that's hilarious
←Crt is the best worst display.

man before you even opened the box, I was thinking about how fun Cross-Fire was as a kid. Then it dropped out of the box! Yes!

Please do the 80's tech video and end it with Matt pulling out another payphone.
he’ll pull out a whole phone booth!
Kids who grew up with that DVD player have now grown up and are parents to iPad kids 🤣
I was born in 2005 and I grew up with DVD, CD, VHS and a little bit of Blu Ray.
That's... literally NOT a DVD player! 🤦♂

Justice for Matt and pogs
I would LOVE that payphone!!! There's so many cool things to do with them
The real thing Matt has wanted for a long time is to live through an entire mythic plus dungeon.

This Is Museum is a PHENOMENAL IDEA
Wild definition of what tech is.... starting off with a candle and a board game.........
Oh yes. The epitome of the 90s. The PayPhone.
Anyone else remember the CALLATT commercials with Carrot Top?
yes…unfortunately yes
The payphone is TOPPP

I am confident that you could find dozens of project ideas for getting the pay phone working as a phone of some kind. Have it as an VoIP phone?

I think the pay phone was the greatest idea ever on this channel
You had me with the pay phone lmaoooo absolutely hilarious
OMG THAT PAYPHONE
what makes you think he didn’t 😉
I'm all for Crossfire tournament videos with the staff!
Mod that pay phone and make it a functional phone. A VoIP phone of some kind.
Editors on point, that is why im subbed. also that payphone segment was amazing lol
Cowabunga!! 😂 love this video thx guys
Matt once the museum opens and the payphone is placed: "I'm at a payphone, trying to call home..."

if there's still a landline at the office, that payphone could easily be installed somewhere! it would be pretty cool!

The fact that you can actually buy a whole pay phone, bacteria, dust, bugs and all is wild.

the editing budget on this video phat boy
Wow the commercials for crossfire made the game look way more intense than reality
Matt respect for the Genesee shirt sir. Great beer.
man Crossfire really takes me back I had one when it came out hahaha
“Is that a god damn pay phone?” 😂😂😂

I was born in 1970’s , around Christmas time.
Matt, Me and You had that Tiger crap. it was fine for me as a 5 year old into power rangers. Most PDA's are in that condition.

I too had the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers game. As awful as it is, I'd still spend hours playing it if I had one. Good inclusion Matt
I might could help you get that payphone connected again. To the hardline anyway. If the phone itself needs repair, that's another tech..

the medical field as a whole were the biggest users, not just NHS…once the interference claims were debunked cellphones were used and pagers dropped
