If you're going to weld up a tightly closed joint, penetration will be very poor, with no strength when it is cleaned off. There should be a slight gap between the two edges to be welded, allowing the weld-pool to melt through the thickness of the metal to the bottom face, thus amalgamating the whole piece into one. The only time butted-up edges would be acceptable is on very thin steel (sub 2mm), when it is relatively easy to use enough amps to safely create a good solid through-weld. A 'hotter' shielding gas might also help, to prevent early cooling of the weld-pool.
In my personal opinion, this can be done with anything smaller than 1'4 inch thickness, if you have a half decent welder, you can penetrate all the way through.
2. On the topic of the Video, I choose to simply spent a total of 2 minutes on the BANDSAW and miter my cuts at 45 there. I do not eat up half a cutoff wheel notching each corner, there's 3 notches per square, that adds up. And because the fitup may not be a true 45, and you might have to grind more, or less, and if you notch incorrectly, you are filling a gap. It's less efficient imo
I agree I adjust the clamp on my cut off saw to 45, the thing I like with this idea is no weld required on the outside corner .

Io qualche annetto ho saldato e volevo dirti che sinceramente nel secondo caso il taglio e' ben eseguito ma quando andrai a molare le superfici dopo averle saldate , proprio perche' cosi precise della saldatura restera' molto poco e al primo colpo potrebbe innescarsi una cricca , se poi capita dopo la verniciatura e' ancora piu' fastidioso .
Se invece lasci un po sulle giunzioni un po di cianfrino allora la saldatura penetra e quando vai a molare comunque qualcosa rimane nel cianfrino e rende la saldatura piu' stabile...

desde el punto de vista mecánico hay mucha sobrecarga en el doblez, mejor es soldadura alrededor de 2 piezas unidas a 45°
La soldadura es más resistente que el doblez? Pensaba que con acero dúctil se endurece pero aún aguanta mucha deformación

Welders dont talk about it because cutting it on a 45 and welding it is a lot better than this
if you have only 4 corners to weld and you are not a very skilled welder this is an easy way in my opinion. Better to spend half hour to prep your weld than 3 hours to fix a twisted bar.
If you just cut 2 pieces of pipe at 45deg and you weld them if you don't have the right tools to align them (welding magnets, square magnets etc.) and if you are "occasional" welder there is a big chance some may get a shitty weld and/or twisted bars.
@@alinmihaistoicescu6821 if they had the time to commit to buying a welder there is no excuse that somebody did not go out and not get magnets, squares and so on.
