Ahh shame about the sunflower 🌻 mine a few years back did the same blew over in the wind. For the first year you have done a bang up job, I’m glad you’re prepping for a new season ahead. Have a super week, Ali 🌞🇨🇦

Ask your local tree surgeon for some wood chips. They're free! Tree surgeons usually have to pay to get rid of their wood chippings so they may be gratefully you want some. Keep going! I love watching your journey!

You should net your new cabbage mate, their are still plenty of butterflies about and they will eat them and lay eggs on them. The beds with black plastic on, take the plastic off once we get the colder weather, the frost etc will kill the weeds off, then put the plastic back over and that will keep the weeds right back. Slug collars or even bits of wide plastic pipe to act as a collar around your brassicas etc. I agree with @Plot_No13 ask a local tree surgeon for free woodchip as they have to pay to dump it, even your local council can arrange for woodchip to be dropped off. The new mic is working well . Waiting for the next video now mate.

Just ordered some netting for the cabbages now thanks. Al start pulling that plastic up when the weather drops need to do some work under it as well. Wondering if Gateshead council will be able to get me some wood chip then. Yea something is going to be needed for them slugs I seen loads when I was there. Thanks for the help hopefully get another video up next week

Just a tip, cut the top and bottom off vegetable tins and put them over your brassicas after you smear a line of vicks vaporub on the rim. NO insects will cross that barrier. From NZ. Pity about your sunflower too.

Thanks for that I would have never thought of that. If I was an insect I wouldn't want to go near vaporub either thanks you

I just cut down a lot of blackberry bushes behind the fence of my property and the spicky stems are now the second line of defense in my beds against the slugs. You have to have a lot of that stuff and its a lot of work, but it really seems to be working. Happy gardening.
