Vola is probably one of my favorite bands right now, and their album 'Witness' has been on repeat ever since it came out. I absolutely love the production on this album, and their writing style is really interesting. There are several songs that I wanted to do a drum cover for, but I ended up landing on this one. I definitely went a bit cymbal-happy in the end, but I was having a lot of fun playing to this song.
I recently changed out a bunch of gear in my studio, and I downsized a lot. I'm still using similar pre's, but I swapped out a few room microphones and sold most of my outboard gear. This is the first video I've recorded with the new setup, and I'm still learning a few things about it. Either way, I'm really happy with my new setup because it's a lot simpler. I definitely have some tweaking to do over the next few months, but I'm excited to have a simpler setup. I've included details for all of my microphones and mic pre's below.
I'm also slowly chipping away at another solo EP, and I'm really excited to start posting more about that in the future. I still need to track and record everything, produce, mix, vocals, etc... But, another EP is definitely in the works, and I can't wait to finish everything up.

Hi Anup, I love you as a drummer and I love all the playthroughs that you do. In particular, I love the playthroughs you've done for your work on Monuments' third album. After looking through your channel I noticed you hadn't done a cover of Leviathan. It would be awesome to to see you do a live take of that! This cover turned me on to Vola, great band and awesome cover! Question: is there a pattern in the last two 8 bar sections? I’ve written it out in 4 and it seems like a pattern is there but I can’t get it. I was never good at puzzles lol. Thanks for the cover!
Thanks for the kind words. And glad you found Vola. \m/ I don't remember finding any specific pattern, but there could be..... It's also been a while since I tracked this video. I just listened to the song so much outside of learning it for a drum cover. So I somewhat knew the groove already before sitting down to learn the parts on the kit.

Not sure you'll see this Anup but man is it awesome to see you cover a VOLA song! the first time I ever heard VOLA (belive it or not) was at one of your concerts with monuments in a really small venue here in AZ! The venue was playing prog metal over the speakers during intermission , the song "I AM NOT HERE" was playing and i was blown away by the sound, INSTANTLY HOOKED. I tried so desperately hard to Shazam the song thru my phone while everyone was talking and drinking. After many failed attempts it finally went thru and man am I glad I did!! been a huge fan ever since! awesome cover !!!
