I love this game! It's short, so a great game to introduce non-boardgamers to the wonderful world of boardgaming. Easy to learn, easy to explain and, easy to play. Because it's fairly quick, even if a player loses, the player could quickly play again. The strategy/complexity could be simple if you want it to be or complex/deep if you want to consider card drafting strategies, meta gaming, etc. The artwork is superb too!
The thing I like in this game over Fairy Tale, it's that it's so much easier to explain. The theme makes it feel more... "logical". People have a hard time grasping the concepts of the card flipping and why do you get x points for having x dwarves... stuff like that.
I also agree that this game feels a bit samy after lots of plays. Like someone said on Ryan's review it feels that you are constantly playing with same 7 cards :) But it is still very popular in our group, because it's so simple, unpredictable (who's winning), and takes so little time to play. Correction: owner gets both 2 coins for selling a resource . Bank is getting nothing.
I prefer Paper Tales over Seven Wonders by far. They have so much in common, but Paper Tales has so much variety, combos, and strategic options. It's a little more randomic than Seven Wonders, but that's also part of the fun... and the challenge! ;)
I've always felt like if your game uses a scoring sheet, it's a bad game. sorry to be negative, but there's nothing fun about long drawn out math to calculate the winner of the game. You HAVE to re-work that, it's a deal killer. I like end of game/secret points because everyone has hope when they take their last turn, but score sheets take away all that drama. Agricola is also guilty, but at least its a meaty eurogame. 30 min card games have no excuse for using a scoresheet.
This review is like an ancient relic now!
I really like this game, and the fact that plays in only 30 minutes means I'm going to take it out a lot.

Great review as usual, but there are some serious sound issues at the start
When you buy a resource from your neighbour, you pay them 2 coins. This "one coin to the bank" thing is WRONG.

*giggle* "Use their wood."

Seriously. Good review. As usual.
This review is the 8th Wonder of the Ancient World.
With Seven this game is fairly chaotic / light. You should try this with four, three, or even two, it becomes far more strategic.

I'm guessing Sam's wearing the mic and rubbing the box against it as he holds the game box ...
Great video

Is it good for 2 players?
M Songhula very good!
Not the greatest. Get 7 Wonders Duel.
Tom must have been on a diet, I know it was 6 years ago but I don't recall ever seeing him this skinny! Maybe the lack of beard contributed as well.
Totally agree; 7W is the best filler in my collection and a great gateway game-
Hahaha that ending.
Since when you pay 1 coin to the bank and 1 to your neighbour to buy them a ressource???
Better than the 1st review
Scratchy Audio in the start.
or SOMEBODY'S rubbing a mic ... I dunno. :P Still great fun! :D
