Just wanted to say that I recently bought Cold Waters and been playing it for an absurd amount this past 1 1/2 weeks. Finished my first Campaign in a Permit-Class, been playing on realistic only - you've been a tremendous help in picking up the game so quickly and a huge source of entertainment, thank you so much for all you do!
I agree, this is my first Cold War series and I’m enjoying it as well. Sorcererdave has a great trafalgar campaign going on right now too that’s worth checking out. Longer and the editing isn’t as tight but the historical intros are fantastic
@@skeeterd5150 Wolfpack is great and I wish I was able to watch the Trafalgar series but I can't deal with the Tigerfish being worse than a Mark f***ing 37 American Torpedo(1968 campaign).
active pinging when you're still undetected (or at least mostly undetected) may be unwise unless the water is loud and the target is close...active sonar in Cold Waters functions less like a search radar and more like a flood light on a foggy day
That's partly how those classes got their reporting names in real life, in fact. The Romeo class and Juliet class submarines almost always were found operating together in wolfpacks. It's something that irks me about Cold Waters. You *should* see them together :3
Also, I've noticed if you have a torpedo using active sonar, it will feed targeting info back to your sub when you have the wire, but it will not do this if it is set to passive.
I don't know, if it was a coincidence or if the AI of that Foxtrot was actively trying to use the wreck as audio cover to evade you, it was nice to see!
I wonder why the navies of the world have lightweight torpedo. For example it could be simple enough to put a parachute on an ADCAP and then strap it on to a P8 Poseidon. Yet the USN went with the Mk54 lightweight to be air dropped and surface ship launched. Why??? Wouldn’t they want the larger warhead, fuel capacity (and associated benefits) of the ADCAP?
Smaller torpedoes are easier to carry, and you can carry more of them. Range is less of an issue if your goal is to drop it right on top of an enemy sub too.
@@papatango2362 They must think it's enough to put a submarine out of action, it's about defense against a submarine so as long as they can cripple it and send it back to port their job is complete. Mk48 needs the big warhead against surface ships while the Mk54 doesn't as well.
Ever see the tree trunk they call a MK-48? It’s just not physically possible to sling one of those under a chopper. And there’s no way you can have enough rocket motor to fly one
I know it's been well asked by now but how do you get the nav sensor and depth bars on the bottom of the screw? I'm running the steam version. Thanks in advance
Any prospect of trying your hand at a 68 campaign? I've been having a go at one, and man it is challenging to set yourself up to take shots successfully, wind up doing some very unexpected tactics.
Wolfpack excuse me but wtf? You trying to ping sub from ~16 KYD away?! I know you are better than this! Active is useless that far. And i know you initially baited it to shoot, but why use it after when it clearly can't find it?
@@Wolfpack345 the contact M3 phonetic would be Mike 3, at least I think. Love your videos by the way, I have been Sub Sim Gaming for over 20 years, keep up the good story telling, really brings life to the games!

@@Wolfpack345 Oh nice! I didnt even know that. You just taught me something. Thanks! Im a pilot so im very used to aviation terminology. Sorry for my crappy comment.
You know I think you are kind of treating the game as a non-realistic game. You don't see enemy submarines manually steering their Torpedoes into you. Yet you steer yours into their subs. You should try shooting torpedoes and letting them do the work instead of manipulating them. Just my two cents and my opinion.
That's because the torpedoes the enemy submarines are shooting a good portion of the time are not wire guided. When they shoot wire guided torpedoes you do see them adjust.
I know uploads have been sparse this week, IRL has just been busy. Don't worry, the counter offensive on your sub boxes will happen next week.

Take your time. Your style of editing can’t be quick and I truly appreciate it.
Excellent!
Can’t wait 😉
Keep up the good work 👍
1:35 - Raises periscope to identify surface vessels, spots Submarine on the surface.
Mission failed successfully.
If it's stupid but it works, it's not stupid.
If a sub is on the surface, it's a surface vessel.
Remember to repair the rudder, lads.

1:04 got a bit of the experienced soldier's complacency there - didn't even try to identify the contacts via sonar, just popped up the periscope!
Everytime I see you sink a new sub I can't help but have the term iron coffin come to mind 😅
Love that shot looking upwards at 00:50
That torpedo didn't miss, but instead went *THROUGH* the sail.

I can't get enough of your submarine series, seriously I'll watch every damn one.
They should have made a combo of "Romeo" and "Juliett" to make the perfect diesel pack 😄
That's partly how those classes got their reporting names in real life, in fact. The Romeo class and Juliet class submarines almost always were found operating together in wolfpacks. It's something that irks me about Cold Waters. You *should* see them together :3
Thanks for the information. I didn't know it. Looks logic now.
That Juliet must've had her ESM, but not her Radar, extended. And as soon as she detected your Radar, she crash dived.
Iv had alot of the diesel boats on the surface recently on my patrols it is quite interesting!!! Really enjoy your series!!
Was not uncommon for Soviet diesels to transit surfaced.
Diesel subs can't stay submerged for that long, remember.

I loved the intro with the sonar operator confirming your report ... nice touch right there!!! Keep up the great work!!!
I get the feeling the AI got a little too cheeky with that third torpedo which is on a wildly different bearing than the rest of the spread
Really can't wait to see how a typhoon class works with the mod
I am really loving this series. This series has really made my last semester of college much better. Thx you ❤️
I love the series. Always keeping it engaging and tense!
Great series really enjoying it.
The day war thunder adds subs will be an amazing day
LOL Wolfpack playing with his food ( torp going past S4 a few times )
Excellent episode, this series is getting a lot of attention, and rightly so, it's awesome! 👏 well done 👍😉
Thank you!
Your videos are my therapy after work
Amazing game and amazing player. Keep up the good work mr Wolfpack ;-)
Really enjoy your channel. Thanks.
Gotta to say this game is more like missile simulator ranther than submarine based game where you fight enemy in the unknown
>Saw you turn into the likely return fire zone
*That's how you know you fucked up*
Went right through the open porthole. You don't see that very often.
Interesting chicken tactic...too bad that torp ran out of juice.
Great episode man.
Narwhal is the stuff of Soviet nightmares...
Another excellent video!

Sonar seems to have a very loose definition of "submerged"
Lmao
A next one? Let's gooooo....., let's see how many fishes did you... catch...
At 15kts your array shouldn't droop at all, so you should be able to have it out.
That was fun as usual. Next new game will you please use a RN boat?
Wolf, is it possible in the game that a enemy submarine could cut the wire of your torpedo while trying to avoid getting hit?
great video.
Thanks!
Great kills!
Are we going to have another silent hunter?

How much damage can a sub take? Probably not a lot.

Question for you; what’s the background music that you used for this video’s intro?
I use music from the games Dangerous Waters and Sub Command.

I did the 68 campaign in the skipjack a while ago on the channel. It was a blast and probably my favorite campaign in the game.
How do you deploy your towed array, it dosnt do it for me
I thought the foxtrot might have bottomed-out on purpose. Is that a thing?
