Some say Cassilas, some say Neuer but for me Buffon is the greatest goalkeeper of this century... His consistency along with longevity in top tier of Europe, is incredible

@Raheel Rahman How can you say that a Goalkeeper who played in the 50s is the best ever? Football was so slow compared to today's standard. Just because everybody is conviced of that, and just because he won the ballon d'or, it does not mean he was the greatest ever. See some crazy saves Buffon did with modern balls on crazy shoots (150km/h or even more) . Buffon is the GOAT.
No question Gigi is the GREATEST goalie EVER. best saves, most difficult ones, faced the most legendary strikers throughout his long long long motherfucking long career & put them to shame, 43 next month & still doing it. Hands down the goalkeeper position belongs to super Buffon simple 🙌

I remember playing FIFA 05 and his overall was like 97 I think. Which is the highest bast stats goalkeeper ever in the franchise. Trying to score against him on world class difficulty was almost impossible.
With Gigi Buffon retirement from the national team, ends the career of a legend.
Another Gigi took his place, Donnarumma has everything, to be a legend himself. He played his first Serie A match at 16 and his first cap with Italy at 17. At 22 years old, he has played 215 matches in Serie A, 33 caps with the Azzurri with a European Cup (2021), on top of that.

You can train yourself to become as good as guys like Neuer and other keepers. Buffon is on another level. Some of his instinctive keeping cannot be taught or trained. To me, Buffon is the greatest keeper ever.

When I was 13 my nickname was Buffon because I used to play in goal (but ironically, I was awful). I’m 29 now… shows how long his amazing career has been, when I was being called Buffon as a kid I never expected he would still be playing when I was nearly 30 lol

Nice video! For me Buffon is the best goalkeeper ever! But I personally feel like giving him an 8/10 for consistency is a bit harsh just because he didn't really play abroad or for other teams...I mean, he did play for Parma and Juve, and I feel like his loyalty at Juve should be admired (especially when he remained after the calciopoli scandal, when he could've easily gone to Milan and won the Champions League as he had an offer), and he did play for PSG in his last season at the age of 40; plus he was always amazing in the Champions League, in the UEFA Cup, and internationally at the Euros, the World Cup, and the Confederations Cup against the top club and national teams...not to mention that he was a top keeper from his days as a teenager up until his late 30s, and Serie A was the best league in the world by far for the first decade of his career, so I might give him 9 or 10. I would probably give him a 10 for positioning as well personally; haven't seen anyone better in that regard! In terms of flair, I feel like in his early career with Parma he was definitely flashier, but he definitely became less spectacular after joining Juve, and that helped him in his later career, so I agree that for most of his career he wasn't particularly flamboyant. I might also give him one point more in terms of his trophy cabinet, as he still reached every major club and international final, and won everything in Italy many times over, as well as some titles in France, and a World Cup and an UEFA Cup, despite not winning the Champions League or the Euros (even though he reached the final of both). But these are just minor comments!
It's in the sense of how adaptable to new scenarios he was, when i created the rating system I wanted to make sure daring players got rewarded as I admire that trait a lot. When it comes to his positioning its like I said in one of the goalkeeper videos, I dont know much about goalkeeping but felt like itd be unfair not to rate them so Ive trying my best to rate them regardless

@@tapeplixio2419 Yeah; he had had some offers from Man U and Barca, but back then if you didn't play in Italy it meant that you didn't get called up for Italy, or if so maybe for a handful of friendlies or qualifiers only, which was why Baggio always insisted on staying in Italy (plus to be close to his family). One of the few exceptions was Vieri in 1998.
I'd argue he deserves better consistency than the already-high score you're giving him, simply by measuring up to the fact that between the late 1990s-early 2000s, Serie A was often between being one of the best, if not the best, league in Europe. During those best years of his, he also played against many clubs outside of Italy through European competitions.
Also, unlike outfield players, I think getting used to how a league plays is less of a factor for a goalkeeper. Outfield playing often varies wildly in between top leagues, which is why some players that play well in a certain league do not do so in another due to incompatibility in system/playstyle. But, GKs don't really have to deal with that. I think the only difference in between the leagues being in how GKs are tasked with communicating with their defence.
Meaning, had he been in any other team at that point, he would still perform as consistently because he'd probably be facing the same, if not less challenging, opponents than he did during those years in Parma/Juve and playstyle wouldn't be a factor.
However, overall a very very good video that manages to summarize the expansive and decorated career of one of the greatest, if not the greatest, man to have ever stood in between the sticks.

Personally speaking, I think 89 or 90/100 would be a fairer assessment. His only real downside is the fact he never won the Champion's league which ironically would score 10/10 for loyalty. That said, as a goalkeeper you can't really be blamed for the remainder of the team not scoring. His consistency is definitely a 10/10 and has been for a number of years.
Missing one of the elite trophies doesn't take a dime from footballers profile. Maradona and Ronald #9 haven't won UC yet they are the goats in their positions. CR7 hasn't played even in WC final yet he is football's top scorer of all time! Totti, Del Perio, Pirlo, Gerrard, Lampard, Xavi, Iniesta, among 10th of elite gamers haven't won the Ballondore yet they are the game finest! Consume these facts then you won't find a weakness in Buffon's profile. Unarguebly he is the goat of goalkeeper's.

I'm not sure that punishing players for staying in the same country, or with the same team, for most (or all) of their career, is fair. Like, take Paolo Maldini. He played his entire career with AC Milan, does that mean he isn't one of the best centre-back of all time? Flagship players (like Maldini, Zanetti, Puyol, Totti, Del Piero, Terry or Gerrard... and Messi, until now) should be commended, because it is so rare. In fact, it feels like one-team players are a thing of the past.

Can anyone tell me the year and match that Buffon stopped by a penalty kick (I think it was pk shootout) and he gets up with the ball and points at the kicker with this menacing face and just stares at him with his finger pointing. It was so good and I want to see it again
Oh man! That was during penalty shootout between Italy and England (eurocup 2012 quarter final). Actually, Buffon didn't point his finger on Cole, he was referring to Montolivo, who missed his penalty moments before, so he was just saying "it's for you". Hope it helped you. See ya.

obviously very few of us watched Yasin, but experts say he is Unsurpassed so I guess I have to respect it. But Buffon MUST be the second greatest . his career is supreme, his legacy, his longevity and most of all his skills. I mean one couldn't ask more from a keeper.
