You know virtually all medias today are inherently biased with their own agenda, and in actuality it is not more than information warfare agent for their own masters. I sat with my drinks and watched, and this interview was one of the most tense stretches of any movie-watching experience I've had. Truly the climax of the film, and it's unapologetic at how kind of early it is, but it's the right moment. Few movies can deliver with just dialogue, but this movie definitely does. I think it was just a simple way to dramatize the scene. They included the actual clip on the DVD if I remember correctly so viewers could compare them, but that was the moment Nixon committed political suicide, the most important line in the film. I can see why the director would take some liberties with the emphasis to make it more gripping.

And to be clear this has absolutely no relation to their religion affiliation but instead the countries they originate from? And you did this to try and prevent attacks like the ones in Paris from happening on US soil?"

    At least Nixon knew Yes what he had done was considered wrong but at least he put his hand up and said he did those things and gave his reasons and I think I can respect him for it, plus his resignation from office shows he had a sense of civility and a respect for the office, to make it plain I’m not saying I agree with what he did but I’m just noting that it’s a mark of a leader when you do something wrong you confess and face the consequences.

      Where the law is gray and undefined and national security is at stake, the Chief Executive can act, legally. And, incidentally, the law used to burglarize Ellsberg's shrink's office was a law used by FDR to conduct warrantless searches. All that said, if neither the FBI Director nor the CIA Director will cooperate with your break-in plan, it might not be a good political idea to go through with it.

  • @dingers5days
    @dingers5days 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    This plays out much differently in the real interview. Nixon and Frost are not as loud; Nixon more casually states “when the president does it, that means that it is not illegal”; and the movie omits the immediate response to it, when Frost replies “by definition?” and Nixon affirms by saying “exactly!”
