It is an awesome one of a kind guide for surviving and preparing for a disaster minus the normal expense. Ive heard some super things about it and my mate after many years got cool success with it.

sometimes just watching someone work is awesome, especially when it concerns homesteading. even if there are very few words, showing us the hard work does many things: it lets rookies in on how hard the work is; it also gives new homesteaders tips and tricks of the trade. I'd watch even if you didn't talk to me, just went and showed at your pace. it's fascinating!

I wanted to comment on this particular episode of wranglerstar. Thank you for the inspiration of giving us hope even if were not able or have the wisdom God will give it to those who ask. Today we all need hope. I've gone through some major physical disabilities the last three years which have been quite humbling and has made me rethink my future. Even though I'm older I'm not helpless as long as I believe that someone bigger than I am can help me whether the storms that have indeed been a part of my life. So thank you for that word of hope. Keep up the good work and the fight of faith.

i know this video is a little old but as far as the gardening goes, the urban farmer, the market gardener and the lean farmer are all extremely informative books. All basically tell you how to deal with pests ( no sprays) how to deal with weeds ( no sprays) and how to pack as much production in as small of a space as possible. I started working on my 1/2 acer garden late fall this year and im expecting to no only eat like a king a spring-fall but to can well over enough for winter. 6 people. anyways, love the videos man.

You sir are definitely helping me. I figure your about two years ahead of me, but I'm staying the path. Hopefully I will catch up before things get to bad. The biggest step we have made recently was establishing a very tight budget, which has worked well. It is amazing how much waste you can eliminate when you focus on it. Currently we spend $100 each a week for groceries, fuel (30 mile round trip each a day),and sundries. So far we still save about $20 of that week, for gear or makeup.

From an OSU Master Gardener (in progress) get a soil sample analysis from your local ag univ or farm extension. Them buy fertilizer (per their soil report) for a couple years to get started. Then move to composting and sustainable soil replenishment. You could buy a soil sample kit on Amaz*n, but I reccommend the local ag university. The solar powered water well system is great, also think about solar powered water booster pumps for pressurizing the house faucets, toilets, etc.

One technique we use with our cross braces is to sharpen each end down to a dull point, about 1.5 inches in diameter. This is easily done with a sharp axe. Then with a brace and bit, drill a 1.5 inch hole in each of the brace posts at the correct height. The pointed ends of the cross brace fits in the drilled holes, holding them in place. For longevity you could use a clear silicone to seal up the holes after the cross brace is in place if you so desired.

If you are pulling off of your corners you really only need the diagonal that starts low on the corner post. But I think that you know that and are using overkill again.

I am in the southwest corner of the state of Louisiana, quite different type of growing seasons than yours. Concerning the books we all have our favorites. Most people won't ever attempt what your family is doing, and what you're doing is very wise. Are you in Colorado? I have close friends who are planning on Colorado. my garden is about 900 sqft and I do not own a tractor and it is a pain some time to weed, tend and farm. My blessing to you and your family for seeing the reality, what is really going on. We do not have to go back to the stone age, our grandparents used these very techniques with hand tools and animals. I dream to truly homestead myself one day, the simple life, god bless.

A great book to get is Seed to Seed. Shows how to plant, harvest, when to harvest and how to harvest seed and shelf life of seeds. Got one my self and would not loan it out just in case, it is there for my family to read at my place any time.

I like the that you preped your garden. The fence that you put up looks like it really should work work. How are you going store garden harvest? Were you going to use a root celler?
