I really love rin’s personality and the way she makes drawing with her really fun. When I see her videos I always want to pick up my sketchbook and draw with her. 😄
I fought that thought and drew on the first page as soon as I got in the car from buying it... went inside and bought another one. Don’t know where that first page sketch book went 😏
I always deliberately leave the first page blank. I don't know why, but I can never bring myself to put anything on that first page. It's like those blank pages that you sometimes see at the very beginning of books...I feel like they need to be there.
I know that this is off topic, but i like how you show us your mistakes Rin. I really means a lot as an artist to see people that you look up to have imperfect pieces as well. It really helps me when it comes to comparing myself to more experienced artists i see. Once again Thank-you and I really appreciate it. I hope you have a wonderful evening full of waffles.

She doesn't HAVE to show us everything in her completed sketchbooks, nor show us the process of decorating her new one. It always make me happy to see a new video of hers, because I know she'll help me improve; not just my art, me as a person, too. I used to be terrible, tear pages of art that I'd been working on for hours just because one small imperfection annoyed me. Why did I think of the same thing at the start? When she drew the hat and the sleeves I was like- a suit would look great with some black, shiny stilettos and a long pencil skirt. xD
I really like the inspiration image you used. It's so pretty with the 50s style. I also love that thumbnail with her feet crossed. I've had a few times where the thumbnail image turned out better than the final sketch. 😁
I love that you do this - keep numbered and dated sketchbooks that look nice on a book shelf and you can look through and see your progress over the years. That is so special, you're going to be so so glad you did that.
I kind of think you should have a light, base sketch on the cover AND THEN after mastering down a technique you've been wanting to work on, it gets added to the front cover. Like when you worked on hair in the last sketchbook, once happy and confident with what you've achieved, goes on the cover.

I find filljng the first page is extremely anxiety inducing lmao. I'll actually practice on scrap paper several ideas. It's usually a variation of my name, year, and sometimes a little quote. I kind of just fill the entire page with doodles and little hidden messages. It's fun to look back on all of em. I get nostalgic and I remember the state of mjnd I was in, and whatever else was going on that day. I write a lot of poetry, so I incorporate that heavily in to my artwork.

“....I’ve never had this problem before!” and that, folks, is what happens when artists draw on the first page. They get weird paper and hand and anatomy and coloring problems they never had before . It just solidifies for me to never draw on the first page of my sketchbooks .
I'm halfway through sketchbook no3. On the cover of this one I used acrylics to paint a kingfisher (i planned it out on the last page of my previous book) and the number 3, I was inspired by watching you drawing & painting on your last book as it hadn't occurred to me before that I could 😆. On the inside cover did some basic graffiti lettering writing out "sketchbook #3" the first page I don't really fret about, weirdly. Then the back cover has a rainbow sunburst that I did with metallic markers, I had to modpodge over it to seal it as parts of it just never dried though lol.

theres no reason you can't. keep your sketchbook out where you spend a lot of time. that way if you're waiting for something you can doodle in it.

I'm thinking about buying this sketchbook and start taking art more seriously. I've learned the basics and found my style, so now I'm not as afraid as before to not use a cheap sketchbook from a supermarket.
