  • Final video for this AR2ax resto. Finishing up the crossovers and reassembling so we can finally have a listen to these sweet vintage speakers. If you have any questions about parts or need help fixing your AR2ax's drop a comment down below, I'll try to help. All these videos are just being done with my Galaxy S9 smartphone for now, so audio and video is what it is.
    Thanks for watching,

Another tip use heat shrink tubing for sloppy connection's on the caps for tweeter and midrange you also could of rebuilt the controls bye pulling them apart and clean them to me that just a very sloppy repair job and is no longer Factory like would you put ford parts on a Chev probably not I am just fancy when it comes to speaker repair mostly I do surround repair and collect speakers and electronics , just saying .

What are the values of the potentiometers that you installed and the values of the two electrolytic capacitors that you put since one failed to distinguish the value, I would greatly appreciate your response since I am currently shaving equal speakers, From already thank you very much.

The replacement pots are usually available off ebay, I don't remember the values. The caps are from parts express, I used 2.7uf + 1.3uf to make a 4uf and the other cap is a 6uf. I don't remember which goes to which driver but should be easy to figure if your working on a pair of these ARs.

They should be around 15 or 16 ohms.

Where are you located? I need some AR4x redone too. I tried but they didn’t work.

I had to store them when I did a home remodel. When I hooked them up again the tweeters didn’t work. I saw that the rheostats go bad and to clean them. I tried doing one and hooked it back up but still didn’t work. I purchased new ones now and was gonna reconnect them but wondered now if it’s something greater like the capacitor ( what else could it be) . Not sure if the original tweeters actually did go bad now but if not they’d probably be better back in there. Also what I’m wondering is the new rheostats are different in the three prong configuration and now I’m unsure which wire would go where in the new ones. Any help appreciated. Many thanks.
