I'm lucky enough to have a prophecy Scud evoXL carbon, and a 2003 Supercross evoXL.
the Supercross is a really nice ride, and that extra forgiveness from aluminium actually makes the ride less tiring. I also always have that worry of carbon cracking etc?I think carbon is best left for serious riders and tech junkies- I love my Supercross, Def my preferred daily ride.

I'm just a 48 yr old father of a 6 yr oldgirl who started out racing 10 months ago in league. Got her a gate ,practiced everyday for about 3-4weeks. She has a redline mini thats taking her through novice pretty quick. Everyone talks about this at track ,aluminum vs fiber. We'd love to try out the fiber ,but so expensive for me. I want the best for her and i feel bad that i cant afford to provide her that fiber bike, rim. I would trade you one of my 90s elf bikes just get a fiber bike. I know its not worth as much as your bike but . I guees what im tryingto say is id give the world for my daughter. Ride hard guys. Loved the video. 🤘👍

Aluminum can sustain a mild dent with no issues. Once carbon is cracked it will need to be repaired or replaced.

I grew up racing BMX (NBL/ABA) and road bikes (TXBRA). When I raced road races I had both aluminum and carbon rigs. Reason being is that I raced A LOT of criterium races. Which are timed brutal thrashings on about a 1 mile circuit for 55+ minutes. Crashes happen often and lots of carbon gets broken so I raced my aluminum rig mostly. My aluminum rig on long road races on various textures of road would beat me up, the frame was stupid stiff but no where near as compliant as my carbon rig. Meaning I did not feel beat up from road vibrations. Given that I am no longer a sponsored rider and I have to pay for my own gear and bikes now, when I head back to BMX this year I will be racing aluminum just from the sheer standpoint that I cannot afford to be sending my frame to Calfee to have the carbon repaired if it gets cracked or replacing it completely if it breaks.

nice job on the video!! Your video is a good comparison between aluminum and carbon bikes. The hype always says to get the carbon at least from my 12-year-old. But I've talked to a lot of guys and you know a lot of them like the flex of the aluminum and don't like the rigidness of a carbon. But the carbon rims are nice and rigid you can grind out those corners.

Dude I'm 52 & my health is failing me. All my life, I've always wanted a nice bmx bike. In the early 80's I dreamed of a Hutch Pro Star & Trick Star. I also wanted a Predator 16 inch pit bike, because I'm only 5'4". I also liked tje mini frames because they were small. My mom was a single parent. In High School I started working, but my priorities were school clothes & a vehicle to get back & forth to work.

That's pretty much how I figured it would go. 😜 If I was a younger man with a higher skill level I might choose carbon, but being one of those "old dudes" at 48, alu- mini- um is my choice. Yes KJ, I'd like to see an aluminum rim vs carbon rim vid. This weekend at Midwest some of my riders were like carbon, carbon, carbon and quoting the gospel of carbon and how light it was.......until I took them to the J&R tent and handed them a carbon rim and an aluminum rim. I did the same with one of the dad's. They were enlightened. Anyway....... Keep em coming, KJ. Your vids are not only informative, but entertaining as well. ~Rob Gray
