    Loved the video Eric, but I was amazed that most of it you completed with pastel pencils ! I saw the occasional spot where you used pastel sticks but mostly fine layers with pencils....I have never been able to get such a sharp point on it like you have ....it was a great video to watch and learn from. At the end when you added a few “touch ups” it amazed me how the slightest touch of the extra colours in the cats eyes wow, the difference it made ! Plus the added colours over the cat fur. A beautiful piece Eric and I am certain your friend will love it ! I would if it was mine ! 💙💙💙💙💙
    Thanks for sharing this great video ! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

    The Master of his craft at his skilful best. Thoroughly enjoyed this, so much so, I could have watched the whole 8 hours had you shown it that way, just to see you work on the fiddly bits, as I am not keen on time lapse work (although I understand why it’s done).
    I also thought that the accompanying music was great too and considered I heard some Ludovico Einaudi there.

      Thank you Andrew. Unfortunately disaster struck when my hard drive containing all of the tiger videos broke and I can't recover the data. I'm having to start all over again and paint another tiger. As soon as I've finished with my commissions I will be doing that.

    Beautiful and precise art. Have you gone over to pastel now rather than oils? Also, I noticed in one of your demos you seemed to be using pastelmat paper larger than 70x50cm. Was I just imagining this or can you find bigger than the standard size? And one last query, do you use any freeze sprays to protect your work? UPDATE: I've just come across 100x70cm sheets! I thought I might have to resort to trying out clear gesso or pumice gel to coat a larger board, but this size might be sufficient for my needs.

    • @ericwilsonfineart
      @ericwilsonfineart  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Leslie. I do more pastel than oils, but I still like to do oil paintings every now and then. Glad you discovered the 100 x 70 cm sheets :) I don't fix my work per say, but I am experimenting with sprays to assist layering potential these days.

    • @lesliesaunders7625
      @lesliesaunders7625 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ericwilsonfineart So do you find that pastelmat doesn't have sufficient tooth to get the number of layers you want? Do you find that the fixative changes the underlying colours of the pastel or is this not an issue?

    • @ericwilsonfineart
      @ericwilsonfineart  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lesliesaunders7625 No, pastelmat has enough tooth and a huge part of good pastel technique is learning to manage the amount of tooth and getting the right result before its used up. In life things don't always work out though, and you sometimes go wrong and just need that little extra. The spray can give you that, but at a cost of slightly darkening the colours. A good artist is always open to new ideas and willing to experiment. ...Sometimes that darkening may be exactly what you need, sometimes not. It's just another tool in the box.
