Shona being a Bantu language,we share many words.Ugandan,Tanzanian,Kenyan,Zimbabwe, Zambia,Namibia,SouthAfrican Bantu.Actually Kiswahili is a combinantion of Bantu languages and Arabic.Shona os one of those beautiful languages I love. From Uganda with love.
i'm Native American (Onondaga nation) and a linguistics nerd so i got really excited to see this after seeing your reactions to Indigieous culture and questions. reconnecting with culture is so cool and one of the best things people can do for themselves i think. way excited to see other language videos if you decide to do them. keep languages alive :)
I’m impressed by both of you. Your pronunciations are almost perfect. C I hope that’s what your husband calls you, I’m impressed that you picked up on the fact that the language you’re learning which is the main language we speak in Zimbabwe is similar to Swahili & you’re spot on. Shona is a Bantu language. Bantu literally means people & Bantu language are closely related languages spoken from East Africa (Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi ) coming down Central Africa (Congo etc) all the way to Southern Africa ( Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, Angola etc. If someone speaks a Bantu language to me even though I might not fully understand what they are saying I’d still be able to get what they are saying. I’d say our customs & cultural practices are very similar. So if I were to meet 2 people one from west Africa & another from east Africa I’m more likely to relate easier to them cultural & language wise. All Bantu people in central & Southern Africa migrated down from east Africa thousands of years ago
