There was a third goal by the Hungarian squad in the '54 final against Germany, which was wrongly invalidated as an offside. Well, lots of people claimed after the game (as well as some camera footage shows) it was not.
As a taxi driver in Perth W.A. I picked up George Best it was a long ride, we talked a lot. I asked him -in your opinion who was the best player ever. He answered, "for me Puskas" ( He didn't know I was a Hungarian)
Great video mate: appreciating the historical context of Puskás’ career which is often overlooked. Players of that era possessed amazing bravery and strong mentality. Arguably Europe’s greatest ever inside forward ever, if he’d won the World Cup in ‘54 his legacy may have been regarded even higher. I believe his ‘positioning’ should be at least a 9. His natural instincts in the box or intelligent movement from deep were worldclass. Rest of his stats look pretty accurate. His finishing was GOAT-level. A great teammate too, passing and assisting Kocsis and Hidegkuti.
@Toasted' Nugget_' It was one of the best teams ever. The best players were forced to play in Kispest, and the Hungarian national team is also one of the best teams ever. Not many teams had such dominance. They easily beat Botafogo and such teams with 5-0. They were like Santos a few years later. Kocsis, Bozsik, Puskas, Czibor etc. all played in the team.
This guy is arguably the greatest player ever. Honved, hungary and rm were all the best teams in the world when he played for them: that's not a coincidence
"Throphy cabinet: only 1 win in europe's top 5 league" - if you look up the european matches before the 1956 hungarian revolution the hungarian league was definitely one of europe's top 5. Im Hungarian so i can make a comment or even 2. For Hungarians and for Hungary PUSKAS will always be a 10/10 for everything Football stands for, Nobody compares to him. When Hungary lost that very talked game of 1954 to Germany Puskas went to the German Capitain and congratulated him!! Despite knowing very well that Hungary was the favourite to win the World Cup in 1954, Puskas still received the Golden Boot for the best player of the Games, The Hungarian Football Team of the early 1950s been the best team Hungary ever had!! It was called AZ ARANY CSAPAT The Golden Team.
Puskas would have been the best player but sadly that German butcher on purpose injured him. Because he couldn't play against Brazil & Uruguay Somebody had to step up and it was Sandor Kocsis scoring 2 goals against each of those two powerhouses. 11 goals for the tournament, so I would say Kocsis was the GOAT of '54.

They wouldn't "buy" all the greatest footballers. They would conscript them into military because Honved was a Red Army of Hungary. This was practice at that time, in many East European countries. To get a player, they would tell the player via ministry of defence, he can go to real military service or join the army team.

@@andrearalf1021 Hungary had a golden generation that time, and we were even close to winning the world cup. The only disadvantage for him, that he went to Madrid a bit older aged. He would have got even more unrealistic numbers if he was there since young age.

Trophy cabinet - "... no EUROs..."
Have you checked why is that?
UEFA European Championship has been held every four years since 1960. When Puskás was already 33, fled out of Hungary and haven't got his spanish nationality yet. Hard to win a trophy if A) it doesn't exist or B) you cannot play at it.
Great video, thanks!
Being born in 1950, I still remember the great Puskas and Real Madrid's run of 5 trophies at the onset of European Football Tournaments. Sadly enough, they don't make 'm like that anymore!
Puskas just invented V-turn and he can't do it in FIFA 21
Whats v turn
@@adamheath3708 V-turn is a skill move in football, check his goal against England and you will see.
A v-turn konkrétan a drag back csak nem hátra húzod, hanem előre
This is oroginal Puskas skill 🤗🇭🇺
Komolyan Puskásnak meg kéne adni a 5*Skills Moves
Thank you this amazing video! ❤ Love from Hungary!
There was a third goal by the Hungarian squad in the '54 final against Germany, which was wrongly invalidated as an offside. Well, lots of people claimed after the game (as well as some camera footage shows) it was not.
If only there was VAR!!!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. This one took me some extra time to get done
His time at the Budapest Honvéd is very underrated.
Honvéd was in that time the best team of the world.
@@toastednugget_3124
Yes way.
Sadly UCL wasn't invented until 1955, also the Euro was introduced in 1960 when he was already fleed from Hungary, but the WC, yeah that was a big miss.
Overall great vid, keep it up man!
This is an incredible video. I have no idea how you manage to find such incredible clips as well as dig up so much fantastic information about the players. As a Madridista I feel very enlightened learning about one of our classic iconic players. I hope you are able to find a way to make your work sustainable! Maybe a commercial sponsorship or something, anything, that enables you to keep making these brilliant videos and getting the exposure you deserve along with a way to freely dedicate all your time to it.
Keep going, and all the best!

It feels so bad that we had players like him and probably the scariest national team back in the day and now our football is just so disappointing

As a Hungarian I have a tale about puskas.once(after his retirment)he went to coach a football club full of kids.all the kids were laughing at him, because of his physicality and were asking, who is this person?I bet he can't hit the crossbar from the halfway line!so puskas walked to the halfway line with ten balls, and hit the crossbar every single time.the kids asked who is this person?
And the coach replied,
"he's señor puskas to you..."

Puskas is an All Time Great, in Opinion one of the 5 best Players ever in the Game. Great Person, Great Captain, Great Player and Assist-Giver. Magnificent Player of the Magical Magyars.
One of the best ever, top 5 easily
One of the more enriching things is learning about these legends.
@@habsallways So that means Hungary without Puskas would have win the Cup?
@@alextakacs768 He wasn't fit but I can understand he wanted to play. Most of us would.Would they have won without him? We'll never know, one thing for certain with a 100% fit Puskas we would have won easy.
@@habsallways What i don't get why in Hungary nobody mentioned Puskas and the Arnycsapat in early 1970s and i first heard about Puskas and Kocsis in 1975 Italy!! We lived there and almost every Italian over 30 knew who Puskas was!! And me as a new Hungarian boy had to pretend i knew both Puskas and Kocsis and the Italians informed me about the Golden Team of Ferenc Puskas!! I was really embarrassed!!
@@alextakacs768 The answer to your question is very sad. After the Hungarian revolution was put down by the Soviet Union Puskas,Kocsis and Czibor decided not to return. The communist government of Hungary considered them as traitors (haza arulok). No media were ever allowed to mention their name.Of course most ppl
knew the truth, parents told their children.
Thankfully today in Hungary and around the world real football fans know who the aranycsapat was and what they did.

nice, the first goat rankings video to have the modern speech
They wouldn't "buy" all the greatest footballers. They would conscript them into military because Honved was a Red Army of Hungary. This was practice at that time, in many East European countries. To get a player, they would tell the player via ministry of defence, he can go to real military service or join the army team.
yeah, i knew that, was just poor wording i guess

There are some inaccuracies... communist dictatorship, yes, but it seems like the rest of the world was 'free': Brazil was a military dictatorship when Pele was winning the world cups and Argentina was in the hand of the military in 1978: just when Argentina was winning with Holland, dissidents of the regime were tortured to death. All coups sponsored by the CIA. And Hungary in 1956 was not in a 'war', it was an uprising, them crushed by Soviet tanks.
