    One of the more unusual wild edibles, the young flowers (and leaves) of many species in the genus are a common vegetable. Edibility varies from species to species and they can be narcotic. Properly prepared they are a tasty addition to any meal. The beans are toxic and not edible.

    @EatTheWeeds thank you for that info as well. I hadnt realy thought about the aspect of water being bad. And its such a common source of contaminants.

    Not to be confused with the redflower false yucca! Young flowers look almost identical.

    Love the video dude! Although I admit that I had to rewind and pause the ocean scene for a minute cause we don't get that blue water off the coast of Texas like you do LOL!

    @n10ding : I'm from WA too. Actually, I live in Renton. Our state is beautiful especially when we Mr. Sun comes out in the springtime and summertime. Usually, Mr. Rain and Mr. Cloudy make their appearances more often than Mr. Sun. But I love Mr. Rain more. I like hearing the rain on my roof when I'm sleeping. It's really relaxing. I'm a true Washingtonian.

    @omegahpla No problem. I got that pan not to have eggs and fish stick then it got ruined. I have many well seasoned cast iron pans (see video 114) but I needed something light to hold for the camera.

    @hackysackholder Yeah, boiled poke would be good for scramble eggs but it never seems to last long enough to get put into any other dish.

    @RichTheRidgeHunter Thanks. I did a blog on tools of the trade. Most of them are straightforward except a pen than can write on leaves....I'll see what I can do.

    No edible as far as I know. Don't take a person's word for it. Find someone who will harvest, prepare and eat in front of you. Then see a week later if they are still healthy and or alive.

      We use it as medicine here in Louisiana. You have to know exactly what you are doing but it’s been used for a very long time. Story’s on people who have taken the beans in a tea and recovered from pneumonia quite rapidly.

    I was wondering if you could do a video on asperagus ferns...i'm getting mixed messages, as usual, haha, on whether they are edible or not.

    are the "narcotic properties" from the flower or beans?
    you had mentioned alkaloids in the flower...
    also, are the narcotic and hallucinogenic properties of the same alkaloid ?

  • @EatTheWeeds
    @EatTheWeeds  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @DenniszVideos Poisoned by accident? No, but I have been I'll twice because of bad water or soil the plant was in.

    Interesting Green Dean, nice video. Let me help you with something, because I hate egg residue stuck on a pan, it's so unnecessary! Oil in pan, pan pretty hot before you put in eggs, eggs won't stick. You did a cast iron vid, that's the best thing for that job.
    Seeing egg in pan like that makes me psychotic, and I would kill people who did that ... except killing them would make me feel bad and I might get in trouble. Other than that, I'd just kill them!

    I enjoy all of your videos, however, I don't think it's right that you harvested a plant from the Canaveral National seashore. I think you know it's not right as well.
