Hi dean. I remember stumbling on your channel when I was very young. You were the first person that got me hooked on plant identification and ecology. I haven't visited your channel in a long while. I hope you're doing well. Thanks for all of the great lessons. You are a wonderful teacher. Your work has touched me, and I believe so many others.
I have an alarm set on my phone to check every month and see if he has uploaded. The guy absolutely changed my life. I hold out hope and follow the website closely 😁 In my opinion no one has done foraging videos better before or since. He's the OG and still the king.
Recently my book has been demanding much time. Finished the final read through today. I have a couple of videos in mind, and should get to them if the river quits flooding the plants.
@@greendeane1 I cannot wait to read it! And please don't feel pressure to overwork yourself in order to create more content. If you don't get enough rest then you'll get burnt out and everyone loses! Btw I wrote two college papers that were overviews of the available research on edible invasive weed species in developing countries where chronic undernutrition is an issue. Long term I would like to create some sort of non profit that attaches to existing organizations like the WHO and sends foragers out to work with local community leaders on incorporating these untapped resources into existing local cuisine. Something very similar was done in Kenya where they looked into incorporating Prosopis flour into traditional breads, but that was all I could find.
💖Hello new friend, We loved watching your educational video. It was so fun to view, and it looks like your Channel content is a gold mine. Your passion shone through and was inspiring. We look forward to your next upload. Keep up the fantastic work! Thank you for sharing your talents with the world. We send you all our best wishes for good health, peace, and joy. Thank you, Sonja, Christopher, and Little Aggie.🤸🐾🤸♀
So good to have the good man Deane back...gonna rewatch ...for the 5th thousandth time....all of your videos. My heart cried happily to see you back...never was the same with all the up comers... on what only Deane from the start ...always knew. Sorry for your loss sir. Strength and Love to you from California desert
@@greendeane1 Don't I know it...Happy living life and take your time living it. I will always be checking in for you ... and my goodness, I have so many of your vids to help me with light studying in the meantime💜💜💜!
@@greendeane1 Have you thought about remaking some of your older videos? I just found out that American Lotus exists and went immediately to your channel for more info. Maybe do a great remake of all of them for Rumble?
Glad to hear you are in the process of publishing a book, I am eager to use it. I hope to be able to meet you someday too and take a class Deane. Thanks so much for you works, have a blessed and great 2023.
Hi Grean Dean, when I was younger my grandfather and I would watch all of you videos and go outside and eat the weeds, this really increased my interest in becoming a botanist, unfortunately 4 years ago my grandfather passed away which took away all my spark, a memory of he and I watching your videos, has just inspired me to try to become a botanist as I am in high school now and I really think this is the career I want, thank you so much for lighting my spark
I’ve been getting really into Foraging. I aspire to make videos like yours. Just discovered Natal Plum, Chickweed, & Okinawa Spinach this week and I’m making videos about them all
Just wanted to say thanks for all the great videos. I been watching over 5 years. Your vids helped me a ton learning what I can and more importantly Cannot eat LOL appreciate the attention to detail
I will be pre ordering your book tomorrow, I'm sure it will serve fantastically as your videos have for a decade now. This community can't thank you enough. Thank you Deane! Your work is always versing me and keeping my brain occupied with plants.
I collect these coralwood seeds on the side of the road of this tropical island rainforest (really is a cloud forest). My husband drills holes on them for me to make bracelets and earrings... they are a lot of fun and a beautiful hue of red color that doesn't fade with time . Now I can collect fresh ones again and cook a few and see how that goes. Thanks!
I think that you may have listed that last video you uploaded as "for all ages" because TH-cam closes the comments automatically when you do that. Thanks for all you do
There are edible legumes trees but they are not that many. Here are a few examples: Carob (Ceratonia siliqua), Icecream beans (Inga - pretty much the whole genus), Pigeon pea (Cajanus cajan), Stink bean (Parkia speciosa), Stinky toe (Hymenaea courbaril)
I just discovered your website. It sounds like your childhood was quite magical. Do you remember it fondly like that? I wish I could offer the same richness of nature and freedom to explore to my own kid but unfortunately the area is being actively "developed" and we will become one of those people who one day will have to hop in the car to get in nature.
Thank u for your great videos!! I live in central Florida. I have a question. In my compost soil do I need poop to make it healthy soil or is table scraps and ground clippings good enough for nutrients?
CLipping and some table scraps are fine but if you toss out bone and the like it can attract animals you might not want in your garden such as possums or raccoons.
Was just talking to my husband about seeing you post in a long time and sure enough... you haven't made a post in a good long time... I certainly hope all us well with you Dean and we certainly muss being schooled .. most of all hope you are well. 🥰✌️
Thanks but there is nothing I can do. I am told this is a setting on your end. It is recorded with a steroe mic, it is edited on the latest version of Imovie, and others can hear it.

I'm always surprised when I learn of the existence of a plant I've never heard of and this is another one from your videos.
So glad to see you return to YT! I've loved your videos for ages now.

Thanks. Mole crabs are tasty... and good bait.

I really enjoy your videos. ♥️♥️♥️
Over here, kids usually use these as slingshot ammo :D
_im really getting into this channel_ 🏴👍🏻
please make more video. truly amazing work.
Morning you teacher.
Would be helpful if when describing leaves, flowers and seeds to post a visual on each that we can see as you describe the plant.
Your videos are very much missed. Please consider doing more.

Great info!
It grows wild in some parts of Australia, it's considered native as far as I know.
Great video.
Fuchs Park in Miami has several trees...

In Puerto Rico, people used the seeds which we called "granate" to make necklaces and rosaries. We did not eat it.

My book has been taking much time. I hope to do a few videos between hurricanes.
This is interesting

Hope hes alright
Anyone know if classes are still being offered?
Every weekend, usually in Florida, sometimes the carolinas.
We use the seeds to make necklace
Re: next video, "sign up" , No links, Comments disabled, WTF?
Anyone know how it disperses its seeds?
They drop.... and collect on the ground. I imaging birds move them around.
Mr. Green, have you left the earth?
Love the color of your shirt. Is this the same tree that the Hawaiians call the coral tree…you just answered….no.
I think the "coral tree" in Hawaii is Erythrina sandwicensis, which I think has toxic seeds.
GD only getting audio on the left side.
That is often a setting on your system. It's a stereo mic and stereo on my system.
Are you still ok?
Thanks for asking. Had a stroke after a COVID shot... life goes on.
id like to make a suggestion for a rule in the community. honor thy mother. no other rules. i found a fantastic book.
Come back
I think Sasquatch mostly eats all of the plants that you featured on your channel. Humans, not so much.
Can’t hear anything, please do this one again
Thanks but there is nothing I can do. I am told this is a setting on your end. It is recorded with a steroe mic, it is edited on the latest version of Imovie, and others can hear it.
miss your videosss
