I actually thought that this movie was better than Kong Skull Island. Don't get me wrong, Kong Skull Island is a fun movie. But this one was lovely, it was long yes, but I still really adore this take on Skull Island. It feels a lot more realistic than the goliaths in Kong Skull Island, like this is an ecosystem that could exist or did exist at one point. The music too, I loved the music in this movie. Kong Skull Island's felt so generic, especially when compared to the last entry in the MonsterVerse at that time, Godzilla 2014. But the Peter Jackson film had quite a few memorable tracks, be it from Kong's battle with the V-rexes or his fall from the Empire State Building. My favorite track overall has to be the one that plays when Kong and Anne are in Skull Island's mountains looking over the horizon. It's so somber yet so beautiful even.
A correction on the bug pit scene: there's no evidence supporting the claim that the scene was cut for audiences sake, more-so, that it was cut because it didn't serve any purpose for the film's pacing. Great video!
I remember being the only person in my family who liked this film when we all saw it together. We agreed that all the scenes between Ann and Kong were excellent, abd the long voyage on the boat certainly needed some pruning, but no one else enjoyed the creepy, atmospheric, creature-filled Skull Island scenes as much as I did. Its a film that's gotten more enjoyable for me over time. The dinosaur aesthetic derived from the artwork of Charles R. Knight and Zdenek Burian is beautiful, and I would like to see this aesthetic done properly in a new movie (not in a half-90s half-retro Jurassic World way, and certainly NOT in a 65 way). The World of Kong artbook is a treasure of lost world art design.
I just picked up the 4K this year. "Lost World" is my favorite genre and it's amazing to see it brought to a modern (lol, 20 years old now) film by none other than Peter Jackson. I also really enjoyed the mockumentary in the bonus materials that shows the lore the filmmakers were thinking about as they designed the island and its creatures.
I watched this film when I was basically a baby when it came out in theaters; 3 year old me remembered pretty much all of the moments on Skull Island and the ending with Kong's final stand but it was only until I got older and I learned about the behind the scenes of everybody making the film that I really started to appreciate everything else. This is easily one of the best remakes of a classic film ever. So much passion and effort was put into making everything feel just right: from the damn near accurate representation of what New York was like during 1930s to the fantastical and terrifying yet believable and breathtaking world of Skull Island itself. Yeah, it's long as all heck but whenever I watch it, I don't really feel the length... I just enjoy the ride like I did back when this movie came out. Also have to give the film credit for introducing me to dinosaurs and giant monsters in general; without this film... I probably wouldn't be as much of a fan of those topics as I am now. I'm surprised young me didn't get traumatized from all the carnage but guess I was a weird kid since I ended up loving it so much. 😆 So yep. Still holds up but then again... that's coming from a long time fan. 😁
Kong's battle with the V. rexes was always my favorite part of the movie, and I love how they portrayed his relationship with Ann. I'll admit that while I'm not a fan of the long boat journey, I've gotten used to it over time, though that's probably because of how much I used to watch this film. Also believe it or not, most of the deleted scenes for this movie came from the boat ride, so the crew at least attempted to make the journey not too long.
@TheGhost-rp3ko I agree with Skull Island. However, I don't know that much about the island. I've seen Jeff Bridges, Jack Black, and the newer series with Godzilla. Those islands seem scarier because of those slug things and like that stick spider thing (from the godzilla Kong island) I don't think JP Islands had stuff like that. However, camouflaging theropods are scary, too. 2 more things to note is 1, from what I could gather, Skull Island seems 100% natural and lost to time, whereas JP Islands are man made (in terms of fawna and a portion if not all flora) And 2 I don't know direct size/strength comparisons to each Islands inhabitants. Regardless, it's a lose-lose for humans.
My all time favorite movie. The World of Kong: A Natural History of Skull Island is one of the greatest works of world building. Peter Jackson is a genius.
I recommend checking out - "The World of Kong" book that goes really in depth about all of the creatures that live on Skull Island. For example: Brontosaurus gives birth to live young instead of eggs. 😁
Man, in 2005 we had 3 hours long movies and no one would complain that they were too long. Now even 90 minuts movies have to be fast paced & have a cut every few seconds cuz audience gets "bored"
I think I remember that I saw this movie when I was eight years old during December. Also, I think a week or two later we want to see the Chronicles of Narnia. I miss the old days.
I was 11 when I saw this and I was really excited to see the dinosaurs, but I was scared of the natives and bugs and had to cover my eyes during those scenes.
Not sure I'd say this depiction of Kong is "conservative" in terms of size; he can't really get much bigger than that if he's supposed to be climbing buildings. Rather, then newest one just has to be scaled up like crazy to match Godzilla.
As I said. It’s not a slight on either portrayal. Simply just an observation. And there has been larger depictions of Kong that climb skyscrapers. This guy is still relatively small.
I love this movie mainly because it's more than just a movie with a giant gorilla and dinosaurs, but I like how the dinosaurs are highly evolved monsters
When the monsterverse kong was first introduced, I thought it was a sequel to the Peter Jackson film and was confused as to why this Kong was so massive. Part of the reason I thought that mighta been the triceratops skull on that island, cause i remember one in the PJ film for a few seconds, so I thought it was a sequel with the skullcrawlers coming outa the earth and ate everyone, and a second kong grew massive to fight em or some shiz...
Wsg my man I have a question about jw chaos theory Do i need to watch camp Cretaceous first to understand what’s going on in chaos theory? (I’m asking bc i never watched camp cretaceous but i want to watch choas theory when it releases in my country)
I use to have the kick ass game as a kid based off that film, But the story was a lot different compare to the movie, Cause of having scenes like where Mr Hayes dies by getting stomped by a V-Rex besides being thrown to a wall by Kong during the bridge scene, It's cool that Jack Black and other actors from the remake did their roles in the game Creatures from the game and movie where sounded different, I prefer the PS2 version besides the 360 one because the graphics on characters like Kong and the V-Rexes in the 360 version look like shit, Some might end up saying like " Well it's my opinion"
Movie is 20 years old and has the best CGI of all time. Hollywood cared about how their movies looked. Now, marvel can put whatever unpolished turd out they want because theyll still get millions going to see it
@@dagoodboy6424 Yeah Universal should rerelease it. But Legendary Pictures has the Monsterverse and their own Kong and Skull Island. But then again Universal Studios Orlando has the ride there. So it could happen.

Love this movie!!! A worthy remake
The best remake

The V-Rex is definitely one my favorites in this film
The piranhadon in the extended version is up there for me with the V-rex

Video idea: what's the biggest nightmare? Skull Island or or isla Sonrna/Nublar (or the other islands)
Imo Skull Island
Isla Nublar you can potentially find a place to be safe but on Skull Island there's nowhere you can go to be safe

Kong ballooning up in size is accurate to his history. When making the original Godzilla vs. King Kong, he was scaled up to match his opponent
Yup!
I was stuck for the longest time in the game during the stampede level because I was a child and didn't understand what I had to do
Dino Guy you should watch the extended cut, It adds more animals scenes
The giant fish scene (cant remember what its called) was terrifying and I wish it was left in the movie.
I’ve watched a few of the cut scenes. The Ceratopsian one in particular is my favorite.

For starters the CGI is great. The Skull Island fauna is always spectacular. V-Rexes are sick as hell as well! Definitely a great monster movie!

Still my favorite Kong movie tbh
can you do the many interpatations of gigantosaurus
i still can't get over how the v rexes just wanted to eat a woman
The vrex are 20 tons which is the same weight as a blue whale which makes king kong 2005 the strongest.
It was a slow moving movie until it wasn't! But it was very good...I believe. Also, I believe the natives might have scared you more than the bugs!
My Dad brought this movie up recently Lol.
found a v-rex figure on ebay just now and it costs $7,000.00.
really? I got one off amazon for 30 bucks
I feel like anns reactions at some times kills the vibe in the latter half of the movie.
Did you know it has an extended version too?
I did not!
@@prehistoricchannel128 ah, you gotta watch the extended version man. it's way better than the theaterical one
