It's like john piper jumped into a time machine, travelled back in time, chatted with his younger self, and put it on youtube for everyone to see.

I get it, I think though i've been in this mindset for so long that i've needed the reminder of the grace and beauty of God's love for me. It actually makes me desire him more, to know his grace is deeper than my darkest sin. I find joy in that. I think when you rest in that truth, it motivates you to please him. Not to save your soul but because you love him.

The church needs to hear this! I need to be continually reminded of this! The hole is so big that what Scripture teaches on holiness sounds foreign, even heretical to many Christians fed on grace, grace, grace alone for salvation. True, true, true, but thank you for noticing the ABSENCE of the other side of our multifaceted Gospel.

DeYoung is one of the most clever biblical thinking discerning young teacher of his generation. He's not a one subject centered preacher.

He is definitely anointed by God to help us understand clearly. I am grateful for both of these humble men.

I think we have to be a little more precise when we say a transformed life is necessary for final salvation. Yes, but I'd qualify that like this: holiness flows from a true faith. In other words, faith is the root, and holiness is the fruit. Faith takes root and springs up in the believer's life, producing Christ-likeness. However, faith alone remains the basis for God counting us righteous in Christ. DeYoung and Piper were saying that and would totally agree with that, but I just want to put this cliff notes version here for anyone confused.

@@Goldtaker23 examine yourself against God's Word. Are you bearing the fruits of salvation? Have you truly realized why you need a savior? Examine yourself against the ten commandments and find that you fall short then turn to Jesus for his forgiveness and salvation.

I get what you’re saying. I think the point is that real regenerative faith is evidence of salvation.
“Salvation” that doesn’t bear fruit isn’t salvation at all.

I think the problem is that we think that holiness is something we force ourselves into, as if it was a duty, something you need to demonstrate in your life. I don't think so. I think God invites us into holiness, it's like being invited to the event. It's God's work and our cooperation. Otherwise, the pursuit of holiness ends up becoming a work of man, which we know it is not. It's God's work and our submission. It's a blessing, a gift, a privilege. It is not a duty.

The reason these pastors seam so confusing is because they are convinced good poeple get to go to heaven and bad poeple go to hell, witch is contrary to the bible in many places.

Is it by Faith alone (sola fide) or by faith + works? I see this video like they are trying to have it both ways.

It is satan who said "I shall be LIKE the most high". Your definition of holiness is to mimick satan.

"You shall be holy to me, for I the LORD am holy and have separated you from the peoples, that you should be mine." (Leviticus 20:26) and "since it is written, You shall be holy, for I am holy." (1 Peter 1:16)
If we ought to be holy, and God is holy, we ought to be, in that sense, like God. Also, the New Testament every where commands us to be like Christ (in the sense of being good and virtuous as He is); Christ is God, and therefore we can safely say we ought to be like God, in that sense. Seeking genuine holiness is seeking Christ-likeness.
Thus God demands us to be like him IN THAT SENSE. We need to be careful not to try to be like God in other senses; we ought not to desire to be powerful like He is, for example. God may bless you, that you may pursue Christ-likeness!

You aren't Holy unless ALL your works are PERFECT. If any of your works are sin, your father is the devil (1 John 3:4, 3:8).
All my works are PERFECT because JESUS is all my WORKS and HE is PERFECT.

    • @chrishuffman6734

Satan's sin was not the desire to be holy "Like the Most High" His desire was to take God's place. I don't see how you could come to the conclusion from that passage of Scripture that it's Satanic to desire to be holy as God is.

    • @jjjj-ss8dq

@@chrishuffman6734 the concept is the only way we can a n be holy is to be" born of God" the only one born of God is his son Jesus. The only way we can do this is to be in christ. This is done by simply believing in Jesus. This way God sees us as holy. 1st john says who is he that overcomes the world, he who believes Jesus is the son of God. The whole concept of imputed ritiousnes is there in 1st john. It is an insult to God to think we can have a holiness in our flesh.
