The Riverside & Great Northern Railway is a small 15' inch gauge railway that runs about 2 miles of track in Wisconsin Dells. They are considered a "museum" for the old Sandley Light Railway Equipment Works. They have 4 operating steam locomotives: 4-4-0 American type #98 , 4-4-0 American type #82 , 0-4-0 nicknamed "Tom Thumb", and 4-4-2 Atlantic type #129 . There is also famous 4-4-2 Atlantic type #128 that is currently being restored after a newbie rolled it over a long time ago (8-15 years ago). Also sister locomotive of 128, #127, which was either scrapped or sold off. I'm unsure. However, 129 is actually not a Sandley built locomotive. It is an extremely similar design to 128 and 127 however, just slightly different (as do other engines built by different builders). Also back-up engine #55 : A Diesel designed after a CP NW2. On this occasion, 98 had blew it out cylinders after a long time of running, 82's water plug had busted, and 129 lost steam late in the day so re-firing wasn't really a good option. Fun fact: 129 is actually an oil burner. Good for dry days. Visit the R&GN's website at www.dellstrain.com

What scale are the locomotives made to? 1:4 or 1:3? Locomotives have a prototype?

Most of these locomotives are 1:4, although I've heard mixed sources between 129 being 1:3 or 1:4. There's no real prototype for 129. The closest there is a Chicago & Northwestern 4-4-2

What happened how did she fail or why did she fail?

The engine ran low on fire temp, which caused the boiler PSI to drop. The engine then stalled out but the fire was already out. The engine is oil fired, so you can't just throw more coal on the fire.
