    Thanks Josh - As a dad of 3 who has recently returned to the hobby after a short break. Thank you for all you do, if it wasn't for you many of us would have no idea how to fly. I've done all this before, probably 6 times (once per build) but its so easily forgotten. Building is almost the easiest part. Thank you dude!

    • @JoshuaBardwell
      @JoshuaBardwell  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You should not change the configuration or tune on the Evoque as it is very good already. Especially if you're a beginner, there is no advantage to you flashing new firmware and setting it up from scratch.

    I've got the jumper t lite pro with built in elrs. Now I see where that extra money goes in the Tx16. On my receiver tab all four (throttle, yaw, pitch, roll) main axis of flight when set to midpoints and neutral are twitching like crazy. ~30 points of movement back and forth at the worst. With no dead band and a properly calibrated quad, watching the 3d model in the receiver tab it's slowly moving on it's own. Had to play with deadband for everything until it finally sat still under no input.

    Hey there! I need some help with my Tango II settings. When I push the pitch or roll fully on my remote controller, my drone doesn't achieve the full range of motion. It won't do proper dives or flips; instead, it responds slowly and with limited movement. I've followed various setup guides and checked my remote controller settings, but I still can't figure out what's wrong. Interestingly, when I test the controller in Betaflight's Receiver menu, everything appears to be working fine. Any ideas on what might be causing this issue?

    I have been desperatly trying to be able to read my RSSI in my betaflight config, to add it to my obd. BUT it didn´t work, because of my SBUS protocoll i couldn´t send telemetry.Then I figured out that I (and I have no idea why) have to enter into the CLI (after selecting the correct AUX channel in the receiver tab):
    set rssi_channel = {AUX CHANNEL NUMBER}, then pressing enter. To then save it I had to typ save into the CLI and again entering it.
    so in my case I entered:
    set rssi_channel = 11
    {ENTER}
    save
    {ENTER}
    and after a quick (automatic) reboot the rssi value was immediatly visible in the setup screen in betaflight.😄

I'm having a small issue trying to set up my FlySky FS-iA6B receiver to my SpeedyBee F405 V3 flight controller soldered to R2 using Betaflight Configurator 10.9.0 (697943b). I set the Serial RX to UART2 (where I soldered the PPM output pin to), and saved and rebooted. Then in the Receiver tab I set the Receiver to PPM/CPPM but when I save and reboot it changes back to Serial (via UART), and I have not transmitter input showing up on the screen. TELEMETRY, and RSSI_ADC are off. The receiver was set to output PPM from the transmitter, and they are bound. What am I doing wrong. This is my first build and It's causing me to channel the spirit of Yosemite Sam. Thank you for your help.

    When I set up my Radiomaster, I had the option of different channel map softwares. Which one would you install? I know you can change the order in Betaflight, but do the map orders need to be the same between tx and Betaflight?

    • @truggles120
      @truggles120 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The channel mapping must be the same from TX the flight controller. But you can change the channel map on both your radio and your flight controller. But the map you change on one will not change the other so when you change betaflight to something like an TEAR channel map from an AETR in betaflight, if your radio is AETR it will stay AETR.

    @ Joshua Bardwell, I wonder if you or someone in the community could assist as I’m in South Africa KZN, and there’s not a person to talk too about my hobby. I have a speedybee F7 mini stack with 35a esc, transmitter is a Flysky FS-i6 updated to ten channels and receiver is the FS-ia6b receiver and using the sbus slot, motors are 2203 cobra, the problem is my receiver is bound and soldered with no cross joints to the FC and was working perfectly for a while, then I bought a new frame and changed over without having to re solder anything so more plug and play, yet now I cannot see my receiver in beta flight. I have reflashed firmware to latest but with no luck. I do realise that my setup on the transmitter side might be outdated to what you guys are using that side would you feel that upgrading that would possibly solve my problem or do could it be something more sinister?

    Hello Bardwell,
    love youre videos very helpfull been a subscriber from a few years, binded and build a few drones but latley I accedenly deleted all my modes dont ask me how and had to set them up again.
    I came across a new problem which I never had like this as I remember maybe you can help me out.
    I recalibrated my mambo tbs radio and the stick still seem to jiggle somehow a bit, this I notice a lot inside BF when I go to the receiver tab where the drone starts to move in unwanted directions.
    tried to change AETR1234 to TAER1234 and visversa also re-linked it to the right receiver in the configurator tab to CSRF updated all to the latest firmware. Still having the same problem this happens exact the same to when I enter in all my other drones, my conclusion is that it might be a problem coming from my radio but it strange.
    Hope you have a solution for my problem :/

    The official Betaflight tuning notes tell me, and let me quote "Crossfire users should lock to 50Hz or 150Hz and use an 'RC_LINK' preset in the configurator preset system to set up. We have encountered problems with the default Crossfire dynamic system."
    Does anyone know if that's here to stay, is it a feature or a bug?😄

    Hi Joshua, I've just recently got back into my drone after a few years. I am having to relearn everything!
    I have run into a problem. I can confirm that my Tx and Rx are linked (green light on Rx), however, when I move the sticks, the rotors don't spin and no signal change is noted on BetaFlight! This only started since I updated the Firmware the other week.
    I'm thinking it may be an issue with the receiver protocol I have selected... I don't remember ever having to choose one on older versions of Betaflight (circa 2018)!
    Is there a way to find out which receiver protocol your Rx uses? I've googled the model number with no answer!
    Tx is Taranis X7, Rx is a FrSky XM Plus Micro D16 SBUS, FC is a RacerStar Shot 30A 4in1.
    Any guidance would be much appreciated!

      Connect signal wire to UART tx, not rx.
      In Betaflight receiver tab set protocol srxl2.
      In Ports tab enable serial rx for the UART number you soldered to.
      In cli type
      set serialrx_halfduplex = on
      save

      In an opentx radio, channels can be reversed in the OUTPUTS screen.
      In Betaflight, reverse the throttle using the CLI command
      rxrange 3 2000 1000
      save

    I'm on bf4.4.1 and just above the RSSI is a telemetry on/off switch. My FCs came with telemetry and RSSI off. I run ELRS on all my kwads and from what I understand, ELRS receivers send out telemetry and RSSI automatically. Do I need to switch either of those options to on? Thanks in advance for anybody's help.

    rc smoothing is very important! much more than you say! a freestyle preset can take your 150htz and turn it into a quad with >50htz latency! you must always use "race" in the preset in order to take advantage of your fast radio link, because the smoothing rc in the "freestyle" preset adds a lot of latency. me personally (crossfire), either I put "race" on the preset, or I cut/disable rc smoothing. quite simply. this is the only way to optimize the latency of your system as much as possible. and not be slowed down by rc smoothing. after if you have no problems with latency, it's ok, but why have a good system if it's to curb it with this function? especially for 2.5ghz links, for crossfire, it's less important, but for elrs, you have to take full advantage of the equipment, otherwise there's no point in buying it! No?

    I'm using BF 4.3 (Bi-directional D-shot enabled and using dynamic idle) and when I changed my low throttle threshold from 1090 to 1010 (stick ranges correctly from 1000-2000) it started wobbling like crazy every time I lowered throttle all the way down after a punch out, as if the pids just turned off. People talked about this for BF 4.2 where one needed to adjust the idle value alongside with dynamic idle, but in 4.3 only the dynamic idle is supposed to be used. I moved it back to 1090 so I can keep flying. Do you know why this happened? It was a 3.5" quad and I tested 30-65 dynamic idle but no change.

    • @JoshuaBardwell
      @JoshuaBardwell  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The low throttle threshold is not related to the idle value. As long as your throttle goes below the low throttle threshold at all, Betaflight doesn't care how much below the threshold it is.
