😃😃😃 Got this blend awhile back, love the flavor, I have it cellered, and the flavor has mellowed out a bit, but the room note has become a bit more intense. My wife loves the smell of it, plus on occasion I share a bowl with her.
I give it 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻/5. My friend and I have started to participate in the blend club at work. This blend had been one of our top Aromatics for 2018. We tend have a bowl every shift, including different ones as well. Downside to this blend, like most Sutliff Blends is the left over “goop” at the bottom of the bowl. Other than that, a very enjoyable smoke with no tongue bite and is very pleasant for others around us. They tend to like this blend when we smoke it.
I agree this tobacco smells great in the bag and the room note is pleasant. I tried the tobacco first right out of the bag in one of my Briar pipes and I could only taste the vanilla topping with a hint of the honey and mostly tasted the burley and black cavendish tobacco not much of the virginias or cinnamon . Next I let some of the tobacco dry out for a day on a paper plate and then smoked that in a meerschaum pipe. This way was much better, I tasted the virginia and the cinnamon notes blossomed along with the other cavendish honey&vanilla flavors. the room note was subdued but still nice. would I purchase the tobacco again maybe, But think it is a good winter time holiday tobacco for times when you might be smoking your pipe around others.
:):) Smells great, but tastes a bit bland to me. It was nice to try, but i do not think i will purchase again. Semper Fi Brother. Thank you for the great review.
😏😏😏 I think your review is fairly spot on. The only difference in flavor I have noticed is that I felt like I could taste the burley in this one. Which I actually really enjoyed! The nuttiness from the burley reminded me of “chestnuts roasting on an open fire”. I’d also like to add that I purchased all the tobaccos for 2019 and I’m excited to be in blend club this year!!!
⭐⭐⭐/5 Im new to the hobby and started off thinking I would like aromatics best so I bought a bunch of different kinds, turns out I like English and non-aromatic blends best. Aromatics seem to always give me tongue bite! This however did not and the flavor was enjoyable.
👍👍 The tobacco is very moist and I agree that it is probably due to the toppings. It almost felt like an air freshener. I ordered this tobacco about 8 months ago when I got I let it sit out for 24 hours on a cookie sheet after that I put it into a mason jar that I shook up weekly and opened once a month for 10 minutes to let it breathe. The end result was a very flavorful smoke that has the essence of Christmas; it was very mild and mellow with intense flavor. Once it dries out its an amazing, light, very flavor blend. However due to its high moisture content and the fact that it pretty much can't be smoked until its allowed to dry and cure for several months I wouldn't recommend for a new pipe smoker unless you're very patient and know how to store and age tobacco. My rating overall is it ok but nothing to write home about. Please don't let this rating put you off of the tobacco because it's wonderful but you need to age it be for you even think about smoking it. The other reason I give it two thumbs up is that there are much better aromatic tobaccos out there.
Have had this a few times now and it's not bad, smooth, light hints of spice, id recommend it but I think it lacks something, maybe more spice. What makes this better is adding a small bit of ROs firestorm 👍
You pretty much said exactly what I was thinking about this blend. I enjoyed it more than i thought i would. I had high hopes for it and wasnt disappointed. Probably helped i smoked it during the holidays as well. I used a corn cob and only had to light it once. Very smooth. 🎄🎄🎄🎄!
😉😉😉 I really like the scent from the bag. Smells very much like "Christmas-time". Strong vanilla/caramel with a very subtle cinnamon to it. Came a bit moist so I let it dry out for about an hour. First smoked it in a corn-cob, then tried it in a briar. Smoked straight to the bottom without re-lights both times. It doesn't taste like it smells, although it is not bad....non-offensive. It never bit me - I was actually surprised that with all the topping it has it stayed rather cool. For an aromatic, not bad. I think that a person could also smoke this all year long - not just a Christmas blend. There was not enough cinnamon in it to make me think just Christmas time. Room note is pleasing. Not bad. Thanks Muttnchop.
🧙🏻♂️🧙🏻♂️🧙🏻♂️ rating for this one. Just got some of this for Christmas 2021. I agree that it is very wet. I put two jelly jars away. One to smoke Christmas 2022 and one for more long term just to see what happens to it over time.
😀😀😀 Tin note is sugary and reminds me of a Yankee Candle store. I let the tobacco dry out for about an hour due to the high moisture. It’s a mild and pleasant smoke. Fleeting vanilla taste, but delicious when it hits. An very decent wintertime aromatic.
😀😀I agree with you saying it’s “not bad” but it’s “not bad”. Had a few pipes of this over the Christmas break. If it had a little more spice to it I think in would be a more enjoyable blend.
😃😃 Mild with not enough flavor for my taste. Others who enjoy aromatics more than me may find this more to their liking. As always, thank you for blend club.
Patrick Petrowsky I have a couple of piping buddies down here. Perhaps we should explore the possibility of an Indiana pipe club/group? Indianapolis would be a decent meeting place-not too far of a drive for any of us. ...something to think about.
:) :) :) Quite nice. Mustache note is pleasant. The smoke can bite if you aren't careful, but the taste is quite 'spicy' and nice. All in all a pleasant smoke, although you need to let it dry out for at least 30 minutes before you smoke it.
I would give it a 3 as well. It is actually the first aromatic I have found that I actually like. I was surprised that I liked it. I'm not a fan of the smell so I thought I wasn't really going to enjoy it. But like I said, I was surprised.
I really enjoyed this video, I'm tempted to try this just for the room note. Does anyone know what pipe he's using? I am in love with the size and look of it!
Joey T Thanks for including the accompanying drink. I think we should talk quite a bit more about what beverages we pair with what blends...it can really enhance the experience and hobby, I think.
Mine came in a tin. Personally, I enjoyed it and will definitely continue to do so. Not sure what score I would give it since I'm really pretty new to the hobby. But I think I can agree with your score.
AMAZING! you are the best at what you do! I have been toking Christmas Spice for a few years now, basically as my primary. Noone could have done a better job at perfectly detailing the characteristics of this tobacco. I had learned very early on that it is always quite moist and smokes so much better if it has been left to air out a little. I also have been making a custom blend by mixing in a 50gm tin of Formers Private Flake : 2oz of the Sutliff, to give it the umph the Christmas Spice sadly lacks. I have an idea which I would love to try, but I need some of your guidance and experience to make it right. I would like to try to "reproduce" the Xmas Spice, by blending the best quality/flavor tobaccos that contain each type/flavor that Xmas spice is made up of. Basically a "Premium" grade Xmas spice. Sorry for the long rant...you really have the most relaxing and informative channel on youtube. Please let me know what your choices would be for the "Premium" grade Christmas Spice Blend, and I will make it and send some of it your way for a review...thanks so much!

Very much vanilla, creamy and sweet. The cinnamon is light. Testing during the Christmas season enabled the enjoyment I think.
Just got some of this as well as some Sutliff mulled wine to try and see which wins out as my Christmas smoke.

:) :) Caramel, cinnamon, sweet taste, no bite. Funny room note: My wife and my colleague said that it smells like grated apple with cinnamon.

I've been smoking it in my Missouri meerschaum freehand
1st time viewer from Maine, USA. Very enjoyable to listen to. Informative as well.
😊😊 ok for a holiday blend
"It's not bad." 👍
For a special Christmas blend to be...
at best "not bad" that's pretty bad. 😅 and that's to bad... cause I wanted it to be pretty darn good. 👍
