The dark sides really do have emotions they are technically people but I don't think the other sides realize that and Virgil's to scared to mention it.

I’d like to think this actually happened after the episode. But I know it didn’t. Because of Thomas’s look when Virgil said he was a past Dark Side, and Virgil has been friends with him for over a year now. Deceit pops up sometimes and he does that. He didn’t do it when Remus popped up, although he was sleep deprived so it’s understandable. He thinks that Dark Sides are evil. They aren’t.

This goes along with my theory that Deceit is in charge of more than just lies, but that he's also in charge of self-preservation. Even if it's to the point where it hurts others.
