İt is a "rebuilding". You have to clean and repair old spareparts and make usefull to say "restoration". Anyone can buy spareparts and make the istallation. Sorry for bad comment but that is my opinion. For "rebuilding" this work is great.

Bravo, un restauro ben fatto, economico e che ha salvaguardato parecchi componenti originali, temevo che la forcella facesse una brutta fine come accade in altri video dove il telaio viene conservato ma buttato tutto il resto.

@@cristianturcios6667 @JannisAdmek @CycleFields Hi all. The restoration project went very well. Turns out this bicycle is a high-end Gitane Vuelta equipped with Shimano 600. I disassembled, washed and derusted everything I could, then bought a few new parts : handlebar tape, brake cables, saddle, tires of course... Apart from a few chips in the paint and the rear brake which works moderately well, I'm very happy with the result. All of it for a budget of 90€. Definitely worth it.

I hope you notice that the forks are bent from a previous crash/collision damage. You can clearly see it in the after shot. Look at the headtube angle, follow it down to the top of the fork and you can see that the fork crown is bent backwards. The fork is clearly bent, and the bike, (fork at least) should not be ridden....

I was surprised you were able to get nearly all of the rusted parts and fasteners loose! I would have expected it to be almost a lost cause with all the corrosion. I've recovered bikes that didn't look quite as bad as yours, which ended up with many parts permanently seized into place.

I’m enjoying the bike so far th-cam.com/users/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA My only real complaints are the brakes and the pedals. I feel like a bike designed for bigger people should have much larger pedals and more heavy duty brakes. I’ve only gotten two really good rides out of it, minimal downhill action, and the brakes feel like they’re already going out. A larger person has more momentum, so I think this wasn’t thought through very well. Also, I wear size 13-14 wide shoes. My feet cramp up on these pedals that are clearly made for smaller feet. Since I’m not a pro rider (and I don’t think many are who purchase this bike) I don’t think that the straps on the pedal are necessary at all. None of this takes away from the enjoyment I get from riding, however. I’ll just head to a bike shop to improve on a few things.
