    Love it. I like the idea of alternating the wire direction. I am going to try some surgical tubing over the wire also.

    A very beautiful garden! Try slipping a length of paracord jacket over the wire to prevent adhesion and scarring. It works well for me!

    For Japanese maples, I insert the wires into clear fish tank tubing. It stops it from biting in, a little. Once maples are scarred, it's there for a long time.

      that's a good idea. Some people wrap wires with paper towels or tapes as well.

    Lots of meticulous work going into each tree. I’m friggen diggin it, brother!!
    With your net pots, are you still top watering all of them? Or do you submerge them? I’ve been top watering, and coming back with a dunk every week or two. I’m trying to be more proficient though, and would like to know how you’re doing it so well

      Lots of fun training each tree for great future :) I just top water them daily. What do you mean by coming back with a dunk?

      @@MomijiEn once a week or so, I grab a 2 gallon bucket and scoop up rain water. Then I place the pot into the water to just a little below the soil line (dunking the root ball into the water). I’ll let it soak for maybe 5 mins to really saturate the soil and roots. Then back out and on the bench again. I find this helps maintain moisture in the bark fines I mix with my substrate, as well as the porous stones.
      I’m always nervous that with just top watering, the water trickles out the side of the pot before it wets the substrate at the bottom. Especially when the beneficial fungi are fully active in summer and slow down/clog the soil.

    I have a question, whats the best course of action if an air layering fails ? can you go again at the same location ?

    • @MomijiEn
      @MomijiEn  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would try a different location so you have a new freshly cut pholem that would produce roots. I also determine why it failed the last time - it could be simply due to technique issues or the tree might not be healthy.

    I’ve heard letting young seedlings grow in baskets slow down their growth on nebari supposed to having it in a pot. Is this true ?

    • @MomijiEn
      @MomijiEn  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think using a shallower basket with more drainage would accelerate the root / nebari growth
