- This is the 5th episode of a 30 day motorcycle road trip series that takes us from Washington up through parts of Canada, east to Tennessee, down through Louisiana, and then back up through Utah and places in between. In this episode, we pack up our campsite and battle the wind through South Dakota. The day does not go as planned.

Sorry about the issues guys, but really enjoying the videos!!!.
Always a thumbs up from me!
Thanks so much!
Your videos are great. Keep rolling.
As always - just about the perfect relationship of bike, road and each other! So great how you conquer it all - together too!
Thanks so much!
What a great way to spend a night! Beautiful scenery! 👍👍
Too bad about the head winds there; hard to tell the gas consumption battling those. Great ride, nice weather otherwise. Thanks for sharing. Nice countryside.
ЛАЙК !!! 😊👍
Love following your adventures guys, cheers!
I want to make a copy of that Harley, except for that oil leak. It looks and sounds exactly right.
Youll never find one that dont leak, its part of harley, embrace it
great video and it showed up on my day off. I was able to enjoy watching with my morning coffee. I appreciate the Joy Machine videos. IF you ever get out east to hear in Connecticut. I will gladly show you some good roads to ride and take you out to lunch.
Hope to get out your way someday!! Thanks for the supportive comments, we really appreciate it! Cheers 🍻
Bad ass, I did trips like that on my old Electra glide shovel head when I was younger than got married had two fantastic sons, but still always had a Harley, now there gone and successful, and married, I am back on the road although 60 years old and drive a 2022 road glide still love, be safe and keep the videos coming
Awesome, we love to hear you’re back on the road!
Awesome, love the authenticity and the storytelling, keep rolling!
Thanks so much!
love you guys!
Thumbs up guys look forward to watching the next one !
great job on the videos. I wish I had done this with my wife when we were young like you guys. Take care
Thanks so much for the support!
Your well ridden Evo is leaking oil like my shovelhead 😀 I'm enjoying the new videos.
You guys are the best, love you're videos
Too kind, thank you!
No hassle ,no stories!!
That feeling you get when you are on the side of the road...not fun. Your trip looks like so much fun. Love the morning walk.
Again, it's just awesome.
You sure find some great places to camp! All those oak trees, what a find that was. Saving a ton of money on lodging!. Yes, you learned the hard way about those stiff head winds and gas mileage. We all have been there. It soes work in the opposite - great mileage when the wind is at your back. (: Great episode!
I've done several cross-continent trips and can't imagine doing it without cruise control. Calen, you are a stud. Even when everything goes right, not having your wrist cramp up is amazing.
I understand your point. I have a 1985 Moto Guzzi and boy, the throttle is hard. I need to stop every half hour just two give my hand a break.
Haha yeah it’s tough for sure. Cheers! 🍻
:) THANKS MUCH for sharing! So unfortunate for issues along the way :( SAFE TRAVELS and ENJOY! ALL the BEST from WA!! Cheers :)
the rolling shots from behind and beside the bike are super rad. You two are lucky to be out on the open road, canadian winter has set in up here and it will be another 6 to 8 before we get to ride again. great video.
Thanks so much! Yeah the winters in Canada are so long, hope you are getting out and riding lots this summer!
Cant beat to be on the road and over come all these unexpected situations and issues!!! Happy you made it through .... The road always provides!!!!
Nika really gets some really good views while riding with the 360....oh man, could you tell where it was leaking oil?? i couldn't tell....
Thank you! Nika really enjoys chilling and filming on the back. Some out the breather which is pretty normal, but we also had a problem on a seal on a corner of the motor. We gave it a temporary fix on the road with some cast iron stove sealant in a later episode.
@@joymachinetheshow ahhh gotcha, base gasket......she does a good job!!!
Very cool shots in your vids lately. The ones from behind are pretty cool. What kind of camera does this? Thanks!
It’s an inst360 x3 on a stick, two lenses so it can remove the stick from view. Really cool camera for sure!
I ALWAYS LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR VIDEOS,NO MATTER WHAT ISSUES ARISE,YOU GUYS ARE ALWAYS GREAT TO WATCH. VERY PEACEFUL AND SCENIC.
My wife and I enjoy your videos. Camping under the stars , do you have problems with snakes and insects?
Not snakes so far but we do have some trouble with bugs! A few times we got up in the night to set up the tent cause they were just eating us alive haha
Great trip! And a trip without adventures is not complete
Simple fix
it is just fascinating to go from place to place with a bike, carrying the minimum stuff one needs. I have no better words to describe it.
Question: when you start the bike, you have removed the starter relay, and just activate the solenoid? I have seen this mod around.
Tomorrow a quick ride home for me, 200 miles with my GS, I will leave the highway and cross the Apennines (passo della Cisa) just to enjoy the turns.
PS: I appreciate you have full face helmets - way to go, for long torus.
PS2: you better watch the fuel level more closely in the future!
We have the start button the bars still too, but added this solenoid button to start that way as well. Thanks for watching!!
Just ran across your video … watched it , and I’m hooked. Great videos 👍 Just subscribed
Awesome thank you! 🍻
is it a 70's harley? what year ? so nice to watch your videos
1999, thanks for watching!!
❤
Wind can really throw off your gas consumption.
😉👌
bck tire l👀ks jus like mine!!
😁
s0 may b all dat 0il way bck was all u?
🤔
how are you filming those shots on the move?
We have an insta360 x3 on a stick. Two lenses so it can remove the stick from view, very cool system!
who records the the side by side footage as you're riding
We have an insta360 x3 on a stick. It has two lenses so the stick can be removed. It’s a really cool camera system!
If you put a cat whisker on your mic it might help with the wind.
Another great video. That area has a bunch of nothing and in the winter its a real motherfucker.
