    I hope this goes on sale soon... I have been looking for something like this for a while. I have a 2016 renegade.. but only ones I can find are cheap knock offs that run android and have alot of bugs.. hopefully this one can have its bugs sorted and I can get one ordered to the uk

      Hi Mark, even if they do please keep in mind there are usually software differences between Europe and US vehicles. Recently ran into a similar issue in a different vehicle, 2021 F-150 using a pre-amp adapter from Mobridge which is based in Australia. Something in the coding was different between US and Australia F-150's and the module didn't work out. I ended up using a pre-amp adapter from a US based company that worked like a charm. Do you have access to iDatalink Maestro modules in the UK? We've done aftermarket radios in this model vehicle too. Look into using any Kenwood Maestro compatible radio with the ADS-MRR Maestro module which should retain the camera, steering wheel controls, data, etc. In the last one we did with the aftermarket radio, the only thing lost was the compass display in the cluster which was actually part of the Uconnect 5"radio.

    My Jeep renagade 2018 has a bubble or air inside the screen. No more warranty so it’s hard to find a place that’s willing to change it and fix it

      Infotainment - Beta test, not sold to the public. It didn't work out though unfortunately, watch part 2. Either faulty parts or wasn't programmed properly by the dealer or possible combination of the two.

      Thank you 🙏 maybe they will have the OEM upgrade figured out in the future. In the meantime if I did this job again I’d use the Scosche dash kit with the iLX-407. Looks more like factory than the Metra kit.

    • @carstereochick
      @carstereochick  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I take it you didn't see part 2 ;) It was OEM, but didn't work out due to programming issues. It was part of a beta test run from a US supplier, but they are not available at this time. I've read of others having success using OEM parts and an AlfaOBD, but we ended up putting in an aftermarket iDatalink Maestro compatible Alpine in order to retain OEM features.

      Yes, the Alpine would work and we also have options from Kenwood and Sony. Just needs to be an iDatalink Maestro compatible model. Our shop is Sounds Incredible Mobile in Brookfield, CT. Link in video description. Feel free to call or text for more details, thanks!

    Did you ever figure out how to add a factory unit?

    • @carstereochick
      @carstereochick  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope. We made a part 2, we ended up putting an iDatalink Maestro compatible Alpine stereo in there. If I were to do it again, I would have tried using a programmer. I forget the name of it, someone in the comments thread figured out how to do it. I think the biggest issue was the dealer trying to code it. And if I were to ever install another aftermarket iDatalink Maestro compatible radio in one of these, I would do it using the Scosche mounting kit, rather than the Metra dash kit.

    Ive seen a radio on ebay, called Xtrons for Jeep Renegade, using android 10- Are you able to do a possible review on this radio?

    • @carstereochick
      @carstereochick  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, unfortunately I really don't like to install any products that are shipped directly from China to the end use consumer because they have zero US based product support. Too sketchy for my taste, I'm sorry. I'm a stickler for good customer service and product support. They don't even have a phone number on their website.

      Someone commented somewhere in this thread about how they were able to get it working in their car using their own programmer. I think the dealer just didn't do the proxy programming right. I think it's an Alfa OBD programmer? We ended up putting an aftermarket Alpine in which you can see in the part 2 video.

    • @carstereochick
      @carstereochick  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, super annoying. Auto manufacturers have been incorporating radios on the databus communication lines for years and it's just getting more and more advanced. GM started with it in the early 2000's, BMW back in the 90's with the Z3 radio being part of the alarm system in the car. At least with the BMW it was super easy, you just had to jump a wire to complete the communication loop. Now? Not so easy. Thankfully there are companies out there with very talented engineers who are staying on top of it and developing compatible aftermarket parts so consumers aren't stuck with the original factory components.
